Thank you for taking the time to give us a good piece of the puzzle! A tip for the next video: be concise about each area- you like it, love it or hate it. Maybe summarize to end the video. While you're being honest, you are definitely not helping me make a decision on a machine in this video. Each time you said something positive, you walked it back a bit or offset with a negative. So, I would say something like: Power on a scale of 1-10, a 7. But don't follow that up by compare it to your dedicated primetech then say it's a skidsteer. I watched both of your videos on this machine and am looking for definitive and concise strong/weak points. Doesn't matter if you said something in a previous video. Actual testing will confirm or make you reverse direction on each point.
@@VBELTandSON how is your takeuchi holding up? What's your thought on rotary mulchers vs the standard like in this. Video? Seems like the rotary ones for doing standing trees pops the trees like zits
Anthony D, I disagree with your numbering schema. As mentioned at the end of this video you have to be comfortable using the equipment later on. You sit hours and hours and hours in this thing, so ergonomics are most important. Back to your numbering schema, putting things like a little more power or suspension at the same level with a seat with good ergonomics, a none-claustrophobic cockpit, or good visibility might leading into buying something you don't really intended to buy. Later on during the daily use it might turn out a suspended seat helps more with your backpains then a track suspension, and every time you drive over a bump you regret not having the cabin comfort of the other machine. So, I think it's better to go with the product you feel comfortable to use then the product, that scores heights on your score-list.
I agree that a skid steer will never be as good of a mulcher as a dedicated machine. It's a trade-off decision. An ASV-120 can do like 80% of a similar horsepower dedicated mulcher. But on my ASV I also run a digging bucket, rock bucket, mulch bucket, grapple, tree shear, limb beaver, mowers, power rake, forks, auger, receiver hitch, etc. along with mulching heads. That's the obvious trade-off. I can load dump trucks, I can build roads, I can mow grass fields, I can demo old barns, I can grade landscape and prepare seed and sod beds, etc. Once you have a skid steer, then you can get a dedicated mulcher. The first step is the skid steer. I'd like to hear your opinion the ASV MTL's after you have some experience with them. The Takeuchi TL12 is at a distinct disadvantage there. I've run both.
Joe Sternhagen - 100% agree. I’ve got several thousand hours in the seat of various competitive loaders. Simply put, ASV machines can work on days other machines can’t, go places other machines can’t go, and do many other jobs without beating you to death. Not to mention the tracks last longer and they don’t throw them!
Nice review Sam. It really smoothed out when you moved the camera up top LOL 😂. Holly crap you were rocking it literally 😃. ASV / Terex is about all you see up here on the hill. You know I am a hack amateur that has an opinion worth little or no value, I must say after running a Fecon head with no doors and an FAE with a door on both sides on the excavator, I wouldn’t run my set up any other way and especially a skid steer set up without a door. If I’m working near the road/house/barn or other equipment, I can 1) control the discharge directing it straight down minimizing exposure to breaking a front window on my 080 🙄 LOL and 2) with the doors down, I can recycle the material making it finer with fixed teeth tumbling it until I get the product I want. I may end up adding a CTL Skid Steer to the mix for a variety of uses certainly not a dedicated rig, as I have to drive on the road and paved driveways. My tractor handles most of the loader / grapple work and I can’t replace it for road work. Having a brush/root grapple or a plow on a Skid Steer would be awesome too. I think I recall seeing a stereo in that bad Larry...how in the world could you hear it? I’m am looking forward to your next few reviews to see where this all leads. Oh and by the way, you can come check out the 080/FAE anytime. Keep up the great work Sam and here’s to hitting 10K very soon, better blow the dog whistle again boys👍👍👍
Rocking K Videos awesome! Next time I’m headed your way I’ll swing on over if you got time to hang out! And yea it’s a small but huge comfort having the door to contain the mulch from spraying everything but nice to have the option when you want it. And for sure a skiddy is all around handy dedicated is nice but not versatile like a skiddy is. Someday I’ll get one. Most likely be from global;)
If you have a chance you should test drive a bobcat T870, there a very comfortable and good power machine. And there having around a $9000. Rebate for a first time buyer. I’ve have great luck with bobcat. Here in WV it’s really steep and rough ground, the double flange idler keeps from throwing tracks . Good luck and be safe
Here's a review. I'll never own another one. I bought mine in August of 2020 and have been able to out a whole 100 hrs on it. The rest of the year it's been in the shop getting warranty work done for one issue after another
Stay away from the ASV.. strongest, stays cooler, and able to run it all day without letting it to cool off. Now... there’s a lot of issues with the machine (if using for Mulching) we sold both of ours due to both being in the shop monthly. Also ASV doesn’t have loaners
I'm looking to purchase a used machine for personal property, 50 acres in MS and buying land in NC. Eventually, I'll be developing a small landscaping business so my question is which would you recommend between the lamtrac 6125 and any other?
lamtrac isn't good for much more than mulching id go with a good skiddy. really like the tl12 but looking at 299 next and this guys set up in the video was on point aswell
