You'll find out majority of us grew up playing with no pads & pads necessary because more than half of our tackles are illegal in your sport. And it's not like you can't feel anything when you have pads on.
depends on the position but, probably not, the nfl guys train the skills required from childhood but most of them are to big and slow to play the skill positions, to small to play on the line (also footwork and skill issues there) and definitely can't play linebacker unless they have a natural aptitude for pickingup the game fast they wont be able to learn defences and offences, runningback is probably the best bet, the most skills lineup and crossover plus the size is similar (jarrod hayne actually did pretty good in his limited time at san Francisco, but still got cut)
The rugby players can do very well at combine tests but the huge problem is they don’t know the game. American kids grow up watching and learning the game, as they get older they specialise in positions and know the plays inside out because of years of repetition. By the time they finish college, they’ll have been playing for at least 10 years! Yes the rugby players can learn plays but what about when the play breaks down and they haven’t got the years of experience to fall back on. It would take a season just to catch up on the lingo lol Oh I’m British and love rugby but they wouldn’t stand a chance in the NFL.
What position was the guy throwing the ball ? Like a scrum? Should have got a scrummy have He have him test his accuracy with rugby passes against a QB

Bored with these pointless comparisons, World Rugby. Maybe you should spend less time trying to convince NFL fans to watch rugby and more time / money promoting rugby to American and Canadian kids. That’s your future in North America, and one you have neglected for decades.
Sound advice. Although in most rugby centric nations like South Africa and New Zealand we start playing from primary school, 6/7 years befre the RWC is still decent time for some college student talents to get into the game. After the RWC, world rugby should not let the momentum subside and should start promoting rugby to children similar to the NFL. Xavier Worthy has a 4.24 40yd dash. Has unreal speed
Definitely rugby period
This is awesome
should have gotton some fijian,nz,france players
Rugby requires so much more endurance where americam football is probably the most explosive sport given the sprint, rest, sprint, sub out, or sit out while offense/defense takes their turn.
Thats why american football players would struggle playing rugby. They just train differently.
Any rugby players are brutal, imagine with pads on hitting or running backs....NFL should try and recruit more of them
actually the nfl does actively recruit international athletes. so far very few succeed making it in the nfl other than as kickers.
RUGBY all the way. The nfl can’t compete with a world renowned sport 🏉. RUGBY has a world wide fan base whereas the nfl is an American sport.
Nfl players are drastically more athletic...
i like how the rugby fans don't even realize a number of important facts 1) this is professional athletes vs school boy teenagers 2) this stadium is in England...why? because the NFL academy is in England. These schoolboys are not Americans. The academy is for students outside the usa that want to try and play college football in the usa.
@tedosmond413 even so it's almost embracing how mid the school boys are at sports...go gwt any random kid that plays for a traveling 7v7 team and there leaps ahead of these kids
@@gabetalent7360 I would not know how this group european teenagers compares to other european teenagers.
@tedosmond413 well you'd think they'd grab there best athletes since this was posted to spread the word about all of what there doing
Would be interesting to see if nfl players could make it in rugby with out the pads
The pads don't make the game any safer. In fact they make it more dangerous.
Its not the gear that makes its dangerous, its the way they tackle that's dangerous. Those rugby tackles will demolition a Nfl players.. You should remember kids play rugby from an early age in the Southern Hemisphere so, by the time they hit adulthood they've already build up that strength to take and give heavy tackles
@@ashlouw5350 "Those rugby tackles will demolition a Nfl players"
Many NFL tackles would be red or yellow cards in rugby. You don't have to use your arms, for starters.
" kids play rugby from an early age in the Southern Hemisphere so, by the time they hit adulthood they've already build up that strength to take and give heavy tackles"
Do you think NFL players *don't* play the sport as kids? And don't do specific conditioning to be able to withstand tackles? Have you not noticed how large they are?
Would it not just be easier for you to have said 'I love rugby and know nothing about American Football'?
NFL players would make it in rugby but rugby players cant make it in the NFL
I love how the rugby players play football better than the football players
and doing drills that rugby players never do, like the jump ect.
These are children bro. Foreign teenagers. There is a reason they didn’t find a 5 star wr or rb recruit lol, would’ve made those 7s guys look slow asf
Someone needs to come up with a hybrid of flag football and the 2 versions of touch rugby. That would be a better sport to have in the Olympics.
It already exists called Oz tag
No goal kicks? That like the one thing almost identical in both sports
They definitely can and already have. They have scouts watching junior rugby teams for future prospects.
This was interesting but seemed a bit unfair when those were kids vs pros. I'd love to see pro Rugby 15s vs pro NFL players compete in both sport's challenges including tackling. But I guess there's no chance of that happening from either side 😅
Anyone know who the tall football academy guy, with frizzy hair is? Looks so much like someone i played rugby with a couple of years back
I mean let’s be honest I’m not even going to watch the vid NFL will be faster over a 5 second blitz but the rugby lads will run and run and run, short power needed in NFL long lasting energy and mental sharpness over long period for rugby.
i wish the springboks can do a usa tour or something and then link up with the NFL
Rugby has the best all round physiques in sports hands down.
NFL focuses on speed and agility (Offence) then big and chunky (Defense)
Back in the 90’s Rugby was the same, nowadays the forwards in rugby has speed and agility too, all 15 players on the field should handle offence and defence, as for the 7’s guys… they are all round built with strength, agility and speed.
In short, rugby is a more demanding sport.
Make them do a tug of war next
Some of those NFL players are well over 120kg and running 4.65 for the 40-yard dash.
Shows you how athletic guys can be when they train purely for power and speed.
That’s just a blatant lie
@@jameswyatt4443
Aaron Donald 4.68 at 129kg
Myles Garrett 4 65 at 120kg
Rob Gronkowski 4.68 at 120
Montez Sweat 4.41 at 119 kg
Jadeveon Clowney 4.53 at 121kg
Travon walker 4.51 at 123kg

@@jameswyatt4443
PS. The guys i mentioned are on the defensive line(except Rob). That means they are the most unathletic players on the Defensive side.
I havent even gone to linebackers or defensive backs.
@@georgerichter3930 Hey genius, can you read? The comment says ‘well over 120kg’, it also says ‘4.65’. You named 1 player all over 120kg, and he didn’t do a 4.65.

@@jameswyatt4443 i think you butthurt at which Sport has the superior athletes 🤣🤣
Can nfl players last In rugby league let's see
I think they would do alot better in league
They wouldn't last.. Its too fat paced for them with all the stoppages in NFL games

Rugby 7s, Union and league over NFL period 😤
My question is why do all the rugby channels insist on making videos like this? Are they trying to grow rugby or NFL?
The better question is can NFL players make it rugby?👀
Shocker the rugby players beat the hand ball players

These academy kids aren't professional athletes yet lol
my 40 yard dash at 14 was a 4.93 bro😭
the timing looks to be inaccurate hand timing, you can add about .2 to those times. The NFL uses laser timing.
Also the dude who ran a 4.99 in the 40, If he had the right cleats and running form 😅 but them cleats are diabolical lol
Wait why dont they use actual back line players like a outside center
If you haven’t played football or rugby it’s hard to speak on it accurately. For example big guys in the NFL and even in college weighing close to or over 300lbs can run 4.7 4.8 4.9 5.0 40yrd dashes
I don't feel bad anymore, these NFL academy kids are not from the US. It showed, especially in the speed area!
Need to tell the ruggers that the lateral is still legal in football
They should try put fijian, Argentine, south African and New Zealander 7s player there
NFL players are good at short bursts where as rugby players are better at endurance
The real speedster, in the rugby sevens game a Africa's team, and some USA players
Basically just watched a bunch of professional rugby players play flag football with a bunch of kids. A better comparison would be NFL Professionals Vs Rugby Professionals
lol and they only did nfl drills which they would of never done ever before and it wasnt even any sevens players of note.
Full time NFL players doing football drills v Full time rugby players would be a no contest.
Doing half NFL drills and half Rugby drills would be more interesting and highlight the differences between the athletes.
@@robmcrob2091 nfl would get blown away nearly all positions in a drill involving them catching, passing running and tackling. In rugby everyone is attack and defence. Not in nfl
@Edgycoo I expect they'd struggle with rugby fitness drills like Bronco or malcolms but would be awsome at anything involving speed, strength or agility.
@@robmcrob2091 sure id like to see tyreek vs rupeni or something
Sevens Rugby 👏👏👏
7s players can't even hack it in Rugby
im 100% for rugby but... people are forgetting that the academy players and quite pro yet, youve but the some of the best svns players against developing player who arent yet at the pro level.
if they added cheslin kolbe from springboks the nfl would have no chance
Super bowl rugby edition 😂
The true legit question would be to ask if NLF athletes could make it in rugby union...
Considering both sports involve a lot of running, why has no one taught them good running mechanics?
So basically rugby wins.

There have been some successful rugby players to make the nfl it's not impossible or vice versa not impossible. Regardless of rugby the nfl has seen some british players 😅 The uk is starting to love the nfl and there has been some ballers esp in the 1v1s
Depends on the heart

Pleaseeee...Id love to see nfl players try playing 15 man rugby, they'd be broken without any of their protection
It is hilarious that u rugby fans genuinely think football players can't take a hit without pads 😂 look up that A7FL. You'll find out majority of us grew up playing with no pads & pads necessary because more than half of our tackles are illegal in your sport. And it's not like you can't feel anything when you have pads on.
Rugby? NFL?
They're the same right?
Not even a competition, Sevens athletes are levels above almost any athletes
depends on the position but, probably not, the nfl guys train the skills required from childhood but most of them are to big and slow to play the skill positions, to small to play on the line (also footwork and skill issues there) and definitely can't play linebacker unless they have a natural aptitude for pickingup the game fast they wont be able to learn defences and offences, runningback is probably the best bet, the most skills lineup and crossover plus the size is similar (jarrod hayne actually did pretty good in his limited time at san Francisco, but still got cut)
Hoping the USA team will be top tier when 2031 comes along. It would be disappointing for them to be knocked out before the playoffs.
They can, they just have to hand in their man cards.
Almost the same ball but 2 different games.
What position was the guy throwing the ball ? Like a scrum? Should have got a scrummy have He have him test his accuracy with rugby passes against a QB
what if Marcos Moneta was there?
Dayum I can run under a 5 at 230lbs 😂
just imagine etzebeth in the nfl...
4:40 the fastest rugby is 4:71.....which is slower than the AVERAGE nfl player at wide receiver, running back, cornerback, free safety.
Try Louis Bielle-Biarrey
Cuz Rugby runs like 7 miles worth sprints one little break in the middle, no commercials, and no subs. NFL gets 40 sec breaks each play, commercials, quarter breaks, unlimited substitutions. If NFL got none of those things, they too be slower.
Try using the Fiji team next time

athleticism difference is obvious
Bored with these pointless comparisons, World Rugby. Maybe you should spend less time trying to convince NFL fans to watch rugby and more time / money promoting rugby to American and Canadian kids. That’s your future in North America, and one you have neglected for decades.
Sound advice. Although in most rugby centric nations like South Africa and New Zealand we start playing from primary school, 6/7 years befre the RWC is still decent time for some college student talents to get into the game. After the RWC, world rugby should not let the momentum subside and should start promoting rugby to children similar to the NFL. Unfortunately, I think the draw for the NFL is greater due to finances but i still think the 2 sports can find a way to exist side by side
@@floatpoint1050, rugby has been played in the USA since 1874. They’ve had plenty of time to grow their infrastructure, but they didn’t. Rugby union struggles to compete for money and attention against gridiron football, baseball, and basketball. Hosting a Rugby World Cup should be a major boost for rugby in the USA.
Saw on the Kelces podcast, Jason Kelce wants to promote kids to play multiple sports not just 1, heard that in USA there are quite a few rugby school teams but football coaches hate it when their players play rugby in the offseason cause they are afraid of injuries
@@garywagner2466 They’ve had plenty of time to grow their infrastructure, but they didn’t.
The US is the only Tier 2 country with a professional club competition.
Rugby is actually pretty big in Canada, and growing quickly. My highschool didn’t even have a football team, we played rugby
I think Basketball players would make better converts to rugby.
haha i would love to see that although it would be quick - basketball players would not last 2 minutes of contact.
Who is this for?
Bring Cheslin kolbe i want to see something
i would say poloso tuilagi would is the only player i know could make it big in the nfl.. could be the best ol ever
I always thought rugby and american football is same thing
Just looking at this video rugby players look way more athletic 😂 rugby wins all the time can’t compare football to a sport where there’s no breaks only half time
Just why did louis reese zammit get cut??
lmaoooooo
In your dreams. You should search video interviews of every rugby player who has tried to play in the NFL what it's like? The NFL player is way faster and more athletic than anyone in rugby by a mile.
