That Cheslin charge down, that Etzebeth brute strength and power, Arendse's decisive speed, de Allende's grit, Kriel's kick pass to Cheslin's try and man of the match performance! What an epic and iconic game! Oh, and Sita asking the ref if he could have a go before engaging
I don't usually comment a lot on TH-cam, but I finally summoned the courage to rewatch this game because as it was happening I knew that it will go down as one of the best games ever played. I was afraid that if I watched it again that the result might change, but luckily it didn't and our (SA) magical run to become champions remains in tact. It's disheartening to see so many rugby fans try to take away and bash our performance/our style/complaining about the refereeing and some being downright nasty to our country and players. These commenters say that we are the worst team to have won it, that we do not play with any style, that we were lucky and that we do not deserve to be champions. Please watch this game again. There will always be elements in rugby that are out of your control. But when I see teams not converting their tries/penalties you are going to have to criticise yourself first for not putting points on the board when things are under your control. France in this game missed out on 4 points with their kicking. There are plenty of great videos showing that Kolbe's chargedown was legit so I don't think there's room to debate that. New-Zealand didn't convert in the final as well, but still some fans are overlooking these instances and jumping straight to the refereeing - the things out of their control. I'm not saying that refereeing shouldn't be criticised, but all teams played under these rules as they were instated. Going forward things might change and the TMO interactions might change, but all teams were playing under these rules as interpreted by the officials. So don't put our Springboks down, 3 points were the difference between three teams that could all have won it. We played some of the highest quality rugby we have ever played and we had the hardest road to a final out of any World Cup thus far. We deserve it, just like France, New Zealand, England also would have deserved it had they won. I would have been sad if we lost, but I would also have accepted it. I would have accepted that there will always be contingencies you could nit-pick that might have changed the outcome, but the game goes on and life goes on. I hope when all the emotions settle that people will look at our boks' performance with a bit more grace and realise that you can't will the ball to bounce into your hands at all times. I'm beyond proud of our Boks and country and thankful to be alive to have witnessed one of the greatest teams do what they do best. Winning.
There are no videos showing the charge down was legit, there are only videos where SA fans try to tell you it was legit. The rule is that you cannot start your run off the line to the kicker until the kicker takes a step in the direction of the ball. It's that simple. It's clear that the run was started before any step was taken, the most ridiculous videos will try to convince you that the slight shift in the weight of the kickers feet before taking any step counts as a step, but it does not. That's not to say that South Africa are not worthy champions, but on that one point regarding the blocked kick I must disagree with you. I have no problems with South Africa's style, teams don't have to be flashy to win games. Rugby is about getting from one end to the other however you can within the rules of the game.
@@cigh7445 Nope. The rule says as soos as the player begins his kick, meaning moves, then the opposing side can charge down. Some players step forward straight away and kick, this no 10 started his kick by swaying and doing other stuff before stepping forward. And South African fans don't have to tell you the charge down was legit. The referee did that for us as well as the commentators, all who know their rules better than you mate.
@@cigh7445you can't come force your understanding of the rule upon others. If World Rugby and its referees confirmed that it was legal, who are you to say that it was not?

@@sportrocdoc2237 Thanks for the kind words. However the 2015 AB's stand on their own pedestal. They won 90% of their games for almost 2 years straight! What a way to win. Maybe one day South Africa can also achieve that. Hoping the AB's match us for 4 cups soon!
@@marcellvanrooyen921 If that All Blacks team faced this Springboks team in the Rugby Championship they'd definitely win. But I think it would be a different story at knockout game in a world cup coz this team is tailor made for KO rugby. The bag of tricks of this Springbok team is endless.
@@marcellvanrooyen921 been thinking about that team, I think man-for-man they more talented, but this Boks side has something else in their resilience. PLus for that 4 yr cycle there wasn't much in the way of opposition to the ABs (not their fault, but they were never pushed to levels this Bok team were), but the level of competition this time round, meant they would need that bit extra, for when the tank is empty.
Far from the greatest team in Rugby History. 3 unconvincing wins in a world cup final is no bragging right. How many rugby championships / tri-nations?

So, the yellow card worked out in the end as it gave Etzebeth a breather for 10 minutes right in the middle of the game. This meant he could play to the final whistle without being subbed. He came back fresh after his rest to be at his best for the last 35 minutes and score the decisive try. Thanks TMO! What a legend
This was the play of the game for me 14:14. SA could have used a long pass option to left-wing with a dummy cover but decided to play smart secure rugby and give it their No.4. What a try under so much pressure!
For as long as I live, I will never forget Mandoza leaking in through the stadium speakers as these French blokes, who felt they were pre-ordained, stared into the middle distance. Vanquished.
9:05 is why the Springboks are the GOAT. All the European teams care about is the win rate. For us, it's about developing our players, taking our losses, learning from our mistakes, and winning when it really counts. Our losses have been arguably as important as our victories. We are the first team to abandon shame to leverage losses to navigate our course through both World Cups. The first and only team willing to utilize losing as a valid strategy to achieve victory. The first team willing to take an outside of the box approach with such great success. Who would think of using the bench as a tool! You can copy us or change the rules as much as you wish, but creativity is part of who we are, we'll just come up with something else.
16:45 I’m a South African springbok fan! As much as my country fought for this! That very excellent sportsmanship is needed in that stressful situation. ❤❤🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 Go springboks always in your heart forever. Will die for you guys
This was the sweetest win in the World Cup! The arrogance of the French media…made all of this so much tastier. Funny how the flair of the French team only scored using their forwards and the unskilled Boks scored 3 of 4 tries from their backs. I’ll be back here every year to reminisce. Still celebrating 😄😄
I'm late to this thread, but just to leave a small internet mark, I must say that this was the most amazing game of rugby I've seen in many, many years. The greatest world cup of them all! I hope to see something like this again before I leave this earth!
Before this match, I was fully ready to feel empathy for France if they lost, same as I did with Japan. But I was at the stadium and the way the French fans behaved both individually and collectively was so appalling that I’m glad they lost.
As a Frenchman, I say the Springboks are world class, they just wanted it more than my beloved France. Yes, the Springboks deserved the victory, and the referee was actually very fair.
Thank you, I appreciate your comment. As a South African who has learnt some French due to an interest in the language and country, it's been hard for me to see thousands of anti-South Africa comments in French online. Is the whole country still upset about this game including a dislike of South Africa or does it just appear exaggerated on social media? this boks team plays incredible rugby in a lot of different styles very adaptable play
The mighty Springboks, it was an honer to watch you play. The best team to ever step on a rugby field.🏆🏆🏆🏆
But not the best rugby winning team,,,,,,,,,, ABs….are that
@@MagicHu The world will not remember your wins or losses, they only remember how many times you won the World Cup.
@@Rooster1212 Its just a matter of time before the AB took that back from the Boks. They already outmatched them in every other metric.
They will remember the best team ever. That is the All Blacks ❤❤
❤@MagicHu only because of Apartheid sanctions, since 1994 SA has levelled the playing and NZ is found wanting.
I don't know how many times i watched the highlihights. I just can't get enough❤🇿🇦🙈
This game should have been the final
The intensity was insane🔥🔥🔥
That Cheslin charge down, that Etzebeth brute strength and power, Arendse's decisive speed, de Allende's grit, Kriel's kick pass to Cheslin's try and man of the match performance!
What an epic and iconic game!
Oh, and Sita asking the ref if he could have a go before engaging
This was, and is, the greatest rugby game I have ever watched.
You are arrogant cheats
It turns out it is not that simple. Rugby has laws, not rules.
@@cigh7445you can't come force your understanding of the rule upon others. If World Rugby and its referees confirmed that it was legal, who are you to say that it was not?
I watch this every night before I go to sleep.
As all south africans should.
I do as well 😊
Definitely the game of the tournament and of the best ever . France played an amazing game but South Africa showed strength grit and determination our rugby is on another level 💪. This game could've gone both ways i feel so gutted for France , the best team for the last three years . With the quality that France have , hopefully they'll win the next one 🇿🇦 ❤ 🇲🇫
Jesse Kriel turned into beast mode here!
i was astonished like where have u been my guy😂
This game had my heart beating harder than the semi final and final combined. What a match

The final got me in ICU 😂
Yeeer the Springboks truly deserved this Rugby World Title, the fought against the best to get to that final and eventually winning the Rugby World title for the 4th Time.
As a passionate All Black supporter i have to agree brother. In my eyes, that was the greatest run to a title in world cup history. Hopefully see you at the next grand final 🇳🇿🤝🇿🇦
@tylerprince4470 nice comment bro..
@@_stutu2JZnice one thanks brother! It's NZ fans like you we love. Mutual respect bro. The Boks were lucky to beat NZ in the final. And the way your players took the loss was pure class on display. The ABs will always be the standard bearer to measure ourselves against. Much love ❤
This Springboks team is the greatest team in Rugby history. They're versatile and have loads of heart. They'd definitely find a way to beat any other top team from over the years.
As an All Black supporter I have to agree with you, they would just find a way to beat any team. I would think they would do so against the 2015 AB's too.
I also think the 2015 All Blacks would have serious problems with that line speed/rush defence plus that versatile kicking game/high ball and ofcoz the scrum/bomb squad.
France played a great game, welldone, go bokke❤️🇿🇦❤️🇨🇵❤️
Dunno how France didn't win, shows the resilience of SA they deserved the World Cup win
France bribed world rugby to host the RWC. They should be permanently banned. Also france surrendered in WW2. They are a dishonest and disrespectful nation and will never win a RWC
Thank you for your humility. We are very proud of this team!
France was excellent, but SA were slightly better on the day. Experience of the SA team was clearly showing.
I know... O Keefe and TMO
@@ninjesus4079 🤣keep crying mon ami we love your salty tears
This was the greatest Bok performance ever imo, given the French record at home and the cauldron-like atmosphere
Yep, a hostile cauldron, which the Boks handled superbly.
Hands down the greatest game I've ever got to watch live on TV. The level of intensity and skills from both sides was insanely next level. Both teams were winners on this day for the display of rugby we got to witness. France👏🏼 just Wow! there wouldn't of been any other team in the world that could of level up to the France on that day but South Africa.
Maybe NZ too. And I'm South african
It’s the 12th of September 2024 and I’m watching these highlights for the 100th time with same excitement 😅
No other team would have beaten France. Most dangerous and most talented team at this RWC, ie. France (apart from SA of course).
there is a chance NZ could have beaten France if they had a match again at the finals
@@scoopspy3065 lol didn't France beat nz properly in the opening game
I'm from SA but Never doubt the All blacks!!!!! Never do that
I never seen such speed in passing and power combined
@@AFFA_VCape Crusader? This AB team is good but not as excellent as the McCaw crop or even other AB teams before that. In fact they are very beatable (like we have seen).
Love them or hate them, the Springboks worked their arses off for every metre gained in every game ~
I keep on watching these games. The Boks were amazing. They gave their country the biggest Xmast give with that tophy. Thank u again and again to all of you. Managers trainers. South Africa loves you dearly and appreciate the wonderful talent and comeradery. Bless you and bless you
They gave us heart attack 😂
10 months later still gets goosebumps watching this
So, the yellow card worked out in the end as it gave Etzebeth a breather for 10 minutes right in the middle of the game. This meant he could play to the final whistle without being subbed. He came back fresh after his rest to be at his best for the last 35 minutes and score the decisive try. Thanks TMO! What a legend
This will be forever be one of the greatest rugby match ever
Came back to relive the sweetest time of our lives I South Africa❤
This was the play of the game for me 14:14. SA could have used a long pass option to left-wing with a dummy cover but decided to play smart secure rugby and give it their No.4. What a try under so much pressure!
He definitely made up for the yellow card!
I liked rugby as a casual sport, this game made me love rugby!
Most welcome.
If you can call their tackling casual wait till you take one 😊
I could watch this every day for the rest of my life!
16:20 - THATS the smile of a man who LOVES his job. XD
For as long as I live, I will never forget Mandoza leaking in through the stadium speakers as these French blokes, who felt they were pre-ordained, stared into the middle distance. Vanquished.
It was amazing!
Hearing Mendoza was a master stroke by sarugby marketing, utilmate party song especially with that bass

😂😂😂😂😂😂
Go springboks always in your heart forever. Will die for you guys
South Africa has been playing the best teams on their way to the final
We will never forget this Match 🇿🇦
This was the sweetest win in the World Cup! The arrogance of the French media…made all of this so much tastier. Funny how the flair of the French team only scored using their forwards and the unskilled Boks scored 3 of 4 tries from their backs. I’ll be back here every year to reminisce. Still celebrating 😄😄

It's safe to call them the Host knockers😅
I'm late to this thread, but just to leave a small internet mark, I must say that this was the most amazing game of rugby I've seen in many, many years. The greatest world cup of them all! I hope to see something like this again before I leave this earth!
I watch quite a bit of soccer too but those soccer games just cant compare to a game like this for excitement Rugby is the real football.
Etzebeth when he took the decision that he wanted the ball and was going to get a much needed try. For me that was the legendary moment
The power of Mr Faf to rip the ball and do it so accurately❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Before this match, I was fully ready to feel empathy for France if they lost, same as I did with Japan. But I was at the stadium and the way the French fans behaved both individually and collectively was so appalling that I’m glad they lost.

Did most French people take a strong interest in the Rugby World Cup?
