      Some may be by accident.
When I first started watching youtube a couple of times I tapped the thumbs down button.
I didn't realize tapping it again would turn off the thumbs down. I thought if I did that, it would add another thumbs down, which I certainly did not want to do.
I eventually figured it out. Lol
      Keep up the fun content!

This is my fourth vlog of the Captain's I've watched.
In the last one he mentioned a 24 hour shift.
    Clue number 2 for me.
    He's a Captain, clue number 1.
Now he shows some firefighter patches and it confirms my guess he's a full time fireman.
Like my Dad was for the City of Flint Michigan.
He ended up retired due to a medical disability from winter firefighting in Michigan.
We lived in the first farm town north of Flint, Mt Morris.
Thank you Captain Kleeman for your service.

Ronald Heit well I am definitely a screw fireman. But the captain kleeman is just a youtube nickname. I’m just a private on an engine company. Hey thanks for the kind words and glad you’re tagging along with us!

      @@CaptainKleeman
My Dad was a Engine driver.
Never got a ticket in his life.
He died about 16 years ago.
His insurance premiums was 52 dollars.
      A year.
He got offered lieutenant then brigade chief.
Turned them down as he watch it pretty much kill his best friend Blackie Warren from the stress.
At that time Flint Michigan was one big tinder box from all the old victorian houses that had electric and gas added well after they were built.
My Dad bought our house in 1960.
When we moved in it was 100 years old.
It still had active gas lines in the upstairs hallway for gas lines and a wall mounted furnace.
He freaked out and immediately capped the gas line off in the basement.
The house also double button on off switches and clothe wrapped wires.
Those got changed the first year we lived there.
Then there was the fact the basement still had a coal room in one corner.
Dad and some of his fireman friends ripped it out then water with sand in it blasted the walls to get the coal dust out.
The semi attached garage was originally a carriage house with a hay loft all the way around the outer walls and a big I beam rail in the center with a rolling block and tackle rig.
He had us clean out all the old hay stuffed in the walls.
That's what happens when your Dad is a fireman by profession and you buy a fire trap.
      Safety first.
Every room upstairs had a fire extinguisher and rope ladder by the window.
God himself only knows how much asbestos and lead paint we kids were exposed to.

Honesty and comedy. Keeping it real instead of trying to put of false image is what makes these videos better than the big time youtubers. We are along for the ride for the good and the bad, and we all learn the same lessons whether they were easy or hard. The lesson about chirt, it's awesome when you put it down on dry dirt, but it can be a problem if the dirt is wet! I'm not a dirt expert, but the difference between wet and dry is common sense. The best part is seeing such a beautiful part of the country in every video!

OK, here are my 'bright side' takeaways: A) you got 5 or 6 loads delivered plus the 2 loads up top. B) the Dump truck is not stuff. C). You did get some compaction on the new road from the dual axle, and D) you got it smoothed out with the Deere before any more rain. SUCCESS!!! Hoorah! thanks man.

That Chirt or Churt (however it's spelled) looks like nice material. I guess we don't have that here. We use crushed lime for a cheap base. It's the left overs from digging and crushing limestone. You can get it in some places for $2 a ton. For even cheaper fill that does not need to pack all that well we use filter sand, which is stuff that's too large to really be sand, but not big enough to be 3/8 pea gravel. I've seen it as low $1.75 a ton. You can literally fill a semi for $35.

Envious of the fill material availability and the "rock bottom" prices you are quoting Watch Wes Work. All the trails at my camp would be well rocked for those prices. Down here in SW MS a tractor/trailer load of what they call 610 limestone runs about a grand delivered @30 miles haul. And it is not that danged much cheaper to self haul. Shipped down the MS river by barge from up north.

Hey Captain I love your TH-cam channel I was a excavation contractor from when I got out of High School in 1970 until I retired. I have to laugh because when you were at the pit and it started to rain you said you were going up the house first and dump a couple loads and then to where you were working. I said out loud to myself now that's not how I would do it I dumped a couple more loads where I was working at and then take the last two up to the barn. I want all of the dirt channels it's funny after doing this work for 42 years before I retired how your brain will talk to you when you see a mistake going to happen whoop before it happens watching TH-cam. I miss playing in the dirt so I've got thousands of dollars worth of RC 1/12 scale two dozers Track Loader two excavators 1 dump truck and a lowboy remote control that I play with now moving dirt is in me no matter what scale it is LOL thank you for your Channel you're a very enjoyable character, the fire department is very lucky to have you God bless peace out

Leave IT IN!!! You gotta leave in mishaps like you thought of editing out. Truck sunk a little but you drove it right out. "AAA" never had to be called. That's what makes it real. Besides, there was a tow rope on the front 'tow hooks' and we (all of your subscriber family) helped pull you out. You do get a real lot out of that John Deere and it's obvious you've spent MANY hours in that seat. Keep on keeping on and all's good! Stay safe and thank you. Sonny

what we did was find the biggest tree log and drive some spikes in each end and chain it to the tractor and drag it along the road flattening it down... rolls round flattening the road out for us... couple of tons pressing down on the road works good...

Cap’n, I know how you feel about getting stuck! I’ve done it many times. But, instead of dwelling on that, please let me tell you about an attempted rescue, instead...
Cold, crisp winter morning with 10” of fluffy new snow. I had a Toyota Landcruiser... it could go through anything. My buddy and I hit the country roads.
At the local lake, we come upon two guys sitting in an old beater that is buried on a side road. No tracks in, a lot of yellow spots in the snow a few steps from each door. The engine is idling and they wave us down.
I back up to hook on the tow rope and ask the driver how long they’ve been there. He explains that they came out to fish the night before but; the lake was frozen so they just fell asleep in the car! As I listen I suspect that the sleep may have been somewhat alcohol induced... but hey... who am I to judge?
I tell the driver to put the car in low gear and just let it idle until we get on the main road. As the car starts to move, he begins to gun the engine. The old car starts fishtailing like a channel cat on a stringer. Within about 40’ he has the car plum sideways with the rear tires is a ditch with a 3’ deep snow bank.
I backup and my buddy and I go to check on them. They’re sitting there giggling and tell us how much fun the ride was. I tell my buddy to unhook the tow rope. I tell the driver that I can’t pull him out but, we can give them a ride or call a tow truck. (Pre-cellphone days.). He requests instead that we go get them a 6 pack of beer because that is where they were going anyway!
So, we load up and leave. About an hour later we go back and check on them. Both are asleep in the car and there are several yellow patches in the snow around their new location. An hour later, the car is gone and the tracks show they were winched out onto the road.
You know Cap’n, I’m not a professional rescuer like yourself... but, I think perhaps letting those guys enjoy the beautiful winter scenery for a little bit longer may still have been the safest move I could make! Your thoughts???

      @CaptainKleeman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

William Harris well sir I have to agree. Sounds like you made the right move. Those land cruisers were great rides. Would be something fun to still have around.

I know exactly what you were going through but not with a dump truck. Back in the 80’s and 90’s when I delivered propane one of the trucks I drove was a tandem axle Ford C Cab delivering 100 pound propane tanks for construction heating. We would deliver fulls and pick up the empties so you always moved the empties to the front leaving the truck tail heavy. On some slimy construction sites you could not get the front wheels to turn with the grip the tandems had.

    • @CaptainKleeman
