Michael, I think you've been out behind the barn practicing. Your operator skills and confidence have come "a ways" since I last watched you operate. Well, done Lad.
You are a diamond in the rough but you are polishing up beautifully. I really trust your ability as an operator alot and I feel you really are learning alot.
Thanks for the cracking video mate, when you said you can be shown something 1000 times and you’ll forget it, but the best way for you to learn is by mistake’s, please tell me that doesn’t count for your job as a firefighter. Something I’d tell all of my apprentices over the years is, nobody wakes up in the middle of the night instantly knowing how to do something, and a good tradesmen never stops making mistakes, they just know how to fix them. Cheers from down under.
Making mistakes and learning from them is a whole lot better than repeating mistakes and DP could never be upset about your comment on watching and learning from Jerry because he says he still does the same thing.
All those years of fire fighter training came in handy pulling that hose up the hill, very professional!!! Is it finders keepers losers weepers on the chain? Great job can’t wait to see it all clean and dry!!👍🇺🇸
Cap'n. You continue to amaze me with every one of your videos. I think Jerry might just give you a nod of approval on this repair. If not, I'll give you one.
Watching you work by yourself is how I do it myself I’m a one man operation and at the end of the day it makes you proud of what you have accomplished! Good job sir!
Great video Captain! Ya know, the quick way to clean up that chain is to drag it down a gravel road for a bit, you might be surprised how quick it cleans up.
At the 13:00 mark when you found that chain, I had a similar experience a month ago. I was pushing out some Autumn Olive bushes and in doing so I found a logging chain that I lost four years ago! It was like Christmas in August!!!!
I like when I see someone doing a job that in my opinion is being done correctly. I learned to run equipment over 50 years ago the same way as you. I started when I was big enough to reach the controls.
Man you weren’t messing around on this job..hustling for sure! Don’t sell yourself short , this job showed that you know what you’re doing..slicked that damn up pretty nice with the tilt bucket.
Captain 40 years ago I use to help a friend clear land on his farm. We piled up the brush in an out-of-way location and then piled dirt on top as we built the pile up. After about ten years it became some of the richest topsoil you have ever seen. It ended up making a few acres productive. You moving that old brush around reminded me of that.
Nice job Captain, I've absolutely no doubt that the property owner was happy with your work so far. Can't wait to see you finish this one up and the final product. Thanks for the Sunday afternoon pre football entertainment.
Very good operator you’re willing to learn more and get better some people know better in 10 years than what they started with have a happy and wonderful day
Great video Captain. I've been doing grading work for 40 years and seat time in a machine is the only way to get better. You figure out something or a better way to do things every time you sit in a machine. You're doing a great job. It makes for a long day on a job when you have Harvey the happy homeowner standing there watching you too. Even more when there is 2 standing there.
Now that is better !! Not much topsoil to be had, was half expecting you to take a few buckets of silt out the pond and let it dry out, if there was enough for that...... Best way to learn is on the tools, theory is handy for knowing the specs and limitations of products, and safety procedures etc. too !!
As you say, you are learning by your mistakes & the path to an expert is "A person who works in a narrow field and has made all the mistakes possible"! Excellent work!
Well the only thing I can tell ya is great job and get faster !!!! But it's hard with a one man band to do everything but your hanging in there. Outstanding job Cpt keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍
@@CaptainKleeman 4 I guess ???? Man wish I lived close I could be your Jerry !!!! Would love to hang with ya just to hang out !!! I'm worse than Jerry I'm a big joker always having fun on the job.
Great job Mike. I am with you on learning to operate. Yes, I like advice and for some verbal training, but it really comes down to doing it and as you say, making mistakes. Thanks very much for sharing.
Captain, Your Work this Day repair a old Dam and make a new Overflow. A great Work for one alone! But You make this with great Insertion. Good Work and Video. 💪😭👍 Greeting 🇦🇹
Well obviously you want weight on the drives. But if it's too much, the nose will be too light to steer and see that's an issue around a corner, because you need to steer. More of an issue uphill, but on a Friday....crazy things happen 🤣
Hey, It’s Captain letsdig35😜 Nice work!! And thanks for the tractor advice, I picked it up with a great story! Video out today also. Keep them coming!!
@@gullreefclub I don't even have a bird feeder. That wasn't a negative comment. I would love to have a little getaway like that one. It's small in comparison to what dirt perfect usually does.
@@likearockcm The funny thing I found out about ponds from building a little couple thousand gallon natural style pond in my backyard last year is that regardless if they are big or small pond construction follows the same building principles when it comes to needing the right kind of dirt not to leak, or constructing an overflow etc the only thing difference is the scale of the project. How do I know because my first try was an absolute failure. The second time around I sourced a 8 pickup truck loads of good clay, compacting it well, as well as building a proper overflow just to name a few things I learned on my simple “weekend project.”

Concerning the "outro".... I find it "just about right" 😆
Yes we could see the light at the end of the pipe. Enjoy watching your videos, your not fussing with someone all the time.
Michael, I think you've been out behind the barn practicing. Your operator skills and confidence have come "a ways" since I last watched you operate. Well, done Lad.
its nice when you find things that you can use
Yup!
So muchof running a dozer is listening and feeling how the load is building and carrying. Same with any machine. Can't teach that out of a book.
Exactly
That didn't look like the pond.
Oh grabbing a bucket .
Great job.

It's great watching Jerry. You have learned well.
He's the best!
Finding a 10’ + length of “DOT Approved” chain sure beats out DP and his spoons.
I just hope that chain wasn’t holding the dam together. 😉
nice job. great to have a hand but working alone can be more peaceful and less pressure. cheers captain.
I definitely prefer working alone
