Me and my siblings would pick pecans for her in her backyard off er pecan tree. Robert and my cousin were best friends. I always pulled for him during his career USC and later on he was a good player. He did work for the Blazers, Nuggets and even played for our hometown (then Hornets) now Pelicans. I'm glad to see you do his story.
I saw his whole last pro season in my home town team in Lithuania. It was unbelievable to see so much explosiveness from 35 years old. Gr8 player and true pro. Before Westbrook or Rose... There was Robert Pack.

AND, I went to USC my first two years of college, 1991-93 (I came back to the University of Washington at my own choosing). I got to meet Robert Pack. He tried to teach me how to shoot. He was a total NON-shooter, with Portland. But, in that awful Game 5 in 1993-94, we STUPIDLY kept leaving Robert Pack open for 3-Pointers. Pack hit 3/5 3-Pointers, and I'd say THAT made the difference in the game. 1993-94 was one of the BEST times of my life (even with that Sonics loss to Denver), and 1996 was pretty special, too.

Down three with less than a minute to go in game 4, facing elimination, Pack hit a three to send the game to OT and the Nuggets went on to make history. That loss in '94 was the most painful in my Seattle sports memory. Even worse than 2nd and Goal from the 1. I tip my cap to Robert Pack though. He was a difference maker in a moment when the Denver Nuggets made history by being the first 8 seed to beat a 1 seed (the top overall seed, no less)
I know this guy's name for one reason...he played out of his mind in one of the most memorable games in NBA history--when the Nuggets beat the Sonics in Game 5 to become the first 8-seed to beat a 1-seed (first round was best-of-five back then). I recall a play where Pack went up so high to grab a loose ball, came down akwardly and was alsomt out the rest of the game. In the very next round, they fell game one game short of being the only team to come back from an 0-3 deficit (to the Jazz).

Robert Pack had mad hops and could dunk on anyone including big men. Brandon Roy, Derrick Rose and Greg Oden get mentioned a lot as "what ifs" for their career. I've always wondered what Pack would have done if he stayed healthy. Maybe not HOF, but he would have had a nice 10 year run playing point guard.
