      GM lost my business years ago. I grew up in a "buy US" military family but after multiple bad experiences with sub-par quality on GM cars and terrible dealer experiences both on the sales floor and in the service department for warranty items, I will NEVER buy another one of their cars again. Can't assign a value to the time and frustration dealing with that company.

    You fail to mention the BYD Seal is available now and being delivered in Australia now. The single motor 82kwh battery version is A$20,000 cheaper compared to the Tesla Model 3 long range. This is bitting very deeply into current Tesla sales in Australia.

    • @zunzoo7080
      @zunzoo7080 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      20k cheaper is great but what is the quality and how can BYD make money at that price, If BYD can do it Tesla will find a way to beat it 😂without sacrificing safety and quality

    • @TB-up4xi
      @TB-up4xi 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The BYD seal premium is $59k - and the Model 3 LR is $72k, that's $13k difference not $20k. The premium is much closer in spec & real world range to the RWD at $62k.
      I would buy the $62k RWD Tesla over the $59k BYD every day of the week.
      Neither BYD or Tesla have released Q4 sales numbers by country, the model 3 Highland has been available to order since 1 Sep but began deliveries mid December. 6000 Teslas just got sent back to China because of bugs on the ship.
      Claiming the Seal is biting very deeply into Tesla sales in Australia is complete bullshit , we won't know for at least another 6 to 9 months.

    • @wolfgangpreier9160
      @wolfgangpreier9160 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      BYD Seal RWD Austrian Edition 48.380,-- Euros
      BYD Seal AWD Austrian Edition 51.380,-- Euros
      Model 3 Standard Highland 46.170,-- Euros
      Model 3 Long Range 54.170,-- Euros
      If BYD lowers their prices for the Seal by 8000,-- for the RWD and at least 5000,-- for the AWD it becomes much more attractive.

      I just want to note that a lot of the spec hype is because of comparing apples to oranges and getting excessively excited over a CLTC range. CLTC ranges are total fantasy ranges, even more so than the EU or US range standards. Just look at Model 3 or Model Y CLTC ranges to see how inflated they are. The Zeeker 007 does have a big battery but seems to perform in line with expectations for an EV with a battery of that size--not anything groundbreaking like the CLTC numbers would suggest.

    Having just leased my first EV, a Tesla Model 3 RWD a little over a month ago, I'm not gonna be in the market anytime soon, but I am glad there are more coming out. Competition usually makes things better and hopefully cheaper. Fo me the most exciting upcoming cars will be either the new Tesla 2 or whatever they may call their smaller EV or the new Mini electric that is supposedly gonna be in the US in 2025 or maybe 2026 which would be great as my lease will be up in late 2026. I’ve already looked at it and the build quality, road noise and the almost luxury level interior is far superior to the Model X I thought I was going to buy. no EV is going to be worth the money, nor the savings or convenience or decent range if cheaper that fits your needs.
      battery's are massive, and expensive and 2x the size of most EVs. range is poor, charging times are long, there is no such thing as effiency in a large heavy brick driving down the road.
      EVs are best as mid sized sedans and crossover sized vehicles.

      As @rosetheblackcat stated, EV9 looks like your better option.

    • @FarhoodEnsan
      @FarhoodEnsan 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you truly need a vehicle that carries 4 adults and 3 children comfortably, I'd suggest a hybrid. Toyota Sienna or Grand Highlander are great options that will work for you family for 10+ years without much compromise. They get great mpg in the city and are plenty spacious for a big family.
      If you must go EV, Model Y 7 seater is the best sub 50k option (counting tax credit). It's a tight fit at the back but for under 10 year olds it should be fine. Find an inventory one for even cheaper outdoor prices. Having reliable home or work charging is a must to get all the time and $$ benefits of owning an EV.
      If you will only use the car in the city (no long road trips), and rarely or never drive more than 150-200 miles a day and have charging figured out as mentioned above, then Kia EV9 would be a good choice. Just don't expect it to be your family road tripper, or have the same performance and technology as the Tesla.

    Honestly, I'm more concerned about charging stations. I was driving around with my wife and sister-in-law over the weekend in another state. I dropped them off at the mall and while I would have had enough charge to get back home, I was at the point where I was at least looking at how much charge I had left. It just so happened that there were about 10 superchargers, so I charged while watching Netflix.
    Even though I have a MYLR and Tesla is very good at adding more chargers, I want the day to come where finding a charging station will be like finding a gas pump now. When the time comes and you need a charger, almost certainly, if you drive 5 minutes in any direction, you'll find a charger.

    Hyundai/Kia has been the best at actually delivering cars beyond just showing prototypes or concepts. The Ioniq series has already provided limited production of the EV9 although the price is a bit too high. I think Hyundai will be first out of the gate with the 9 which hits the American buyer market of medium SUVs. A number of the rest in concept seem to be targeting the timeframe of Tesla's next-gen car which will push Tesla to stay close to that $25,000 price. Tesla will be very smart here as they watch these ghost cars move toward real production level, setting their offering to meet or beat the solid contenders and ignore the smoke and mirrors.

    Went to buy a model Y this morning. Today was supposed to be the day that dealers can provide the $7,500 incentive as an "instant" discount. Our local Chevrolet dealer claims to be offering the rebate for ev purchases. Tesla is not. This is a major incentive (to say the least). There has been a significant amount of time for Tesla to work on this transition from tax incentive to "instant" incentive. From both a customer's and stock holder's perspective this seems to be a major fail by Tesla. The result was we did not purchase the vehicle.

      Yes, the tax "rebate" seems to be unchanged. However, as of January 1st, 2024 the dealerships are supposed to be able to provide the $7,500 as an instant discount off the purchase price. It was a part of the original legislation to allow those with less than a $7,500 tax liability to afford an ev purchase. Tesla seems to have elected not to provide this for its customers.
