Hi Clara. I'm from Pakistan. I've learned silk painting many years back and now planning to do it again. Watched the video and I remembered all that I have been forgotten. Thanks.
Good Morning Tahira Salman, I am thrilled that I could help get your creative juices for silk painting going again! CHEERS! Thanks again for your kind words. Happy silk painting! 👌🏾🖌✨
You are very welcome Sandeepkokane7069 A few more videos to come, sorry for the long wait. Do check out my Instagram page at:- @claradesignsart and enjoy!
Good Morning Meera, Thanks for joining my channel. You will definitely enjoy the process. Remember, to read the labels on your paints or dyes, to see which heat-set process is required. I use the Dye-Na-Flow paints, which are made to the consistency of silk dyes. These paints are heat-set with a hot iron. I make sure to iron both sides of the silk piece, and then leave it to cure. Easy, easy, easy! Do enjoy, and send me any questions that you may have. Please visit my website at www.claradesigns.com, or my Instagram page at claradesignsart. Enjoy!
Hi there Meera, There is gold and copper colour guttas. These tend to be raised, and if you are using it as a scalf, it may be a bit uncomfortable to the wearer. I usually use the metallic guttas for my wall-hangings. You must try to use the specific tools for the technique. Acrylics are too heavy for the silk. Hope this helps.🖌🙂
Good Morning Again Soon, I do wish you the very best. Feel free to send any questions or concerns that you may have, at clara@claradesigns.com All the best!
Thanks for your kind words, and for your interest. If the silk is store bought, it will have to be washed, to remove the 'sizing' or starch from the surface. Then you must iron it smooth, for work. I am not certain how light or dark this 'perrot green' is, so I really could not say. The blue, may work better than the magenta, but if the green is light, the magenta should show up. Remember, magenta and green will make a kind of brown colour. Experiment as much as you can with the silk paint or dye, to see how they react on the silk. Hope this helps. All the best! clara@claradesigns.com I do have an online class for beginners to silk painting. You may check the link in the description of this video below.
Thant you for all your videos You have inspired me to have a go at silk painting 🇬🇧🐇🦋🦩 Have painted in many mediums and substrates but never silk what quality of silk is best for a newbie Clara ?Practice makes perfect so I don’t want to add to my initial costs 🤣
Good Afternoon J, Thanks for your kind words. I was taught on Habotai silk, 8mm, but now I enjoy working on Habotai 10 mm. I purchase yards of the silk from Dharma Trading, based in California, as I cut, and hem my own scalf lengths. (I am not sure where you're located, but please check out the Dharma Trading website. This is a store specifically geared towards artists and crafts people. They also ship internationally.) Hope this helps, and it is wonderful to have you on board! 🖌
Good Morning, So sorry, but I cannot read your name. 'Gutta' is NOT glue, it just looks like glue. 'Gutta' is the resist that is used in the 'gutta serti' or silk painting technique. Once you have drawn the design on the silk with the 'gutta', it is left to dry thoroughly, and the the silk paints or silk dyes, which ever you choose to use, are applied. The paints or dyes, will not go over or through the 'gutta' lines, hence 'resist'. Another example, would be wax, as the resist in batik. Hope this helps. ENJOY!
Thanks for reintroducing this video of mine.🌺🖌️
