    Beautiful design, with the large brightly colored butterflies, and the contrast between the salt pattern and the blended colors. I do that with my leaf prints, sprinkling the background with Epsom salts as I put the dye on.

    These are beautiful. I really like the layering of colours.. think I’m going to try this in a sunrise with reds and yellows

    what type of silk are you using? I've tried a 16mm silk twill and the gutta doesn't stop the bleed - love some tips

    awesome! How do the black lines resist the bleed-over of color?

    Hey superb amazing work my signature color is also purple n my brands name is going to purple butterfly, I wanted to know how have you secured the fabric? As I’m interested in silk painting but I don’t know how can I find or make something to secure n tighten the fabric ? Please please reply

      I just use push pins, simple set up with cedar wood set the distance of the fabric width apart then if you look close you can see the pins holding the fabric to the wood

    Beautiful! thank you for sharing your lovely creations. Did you make your own frame? do you use an adjustable frame? thank you in advance.

      Hi Marilyn , sorry to take so long to reply
      I have 2 long pieces of wood 4 " x 4" 8 feet long and because they are heavy enough to stay in place I just move them to the width I want and pin or tack the silk. I usually have a size in mind of what I am making and If I use a frame it is made to that size.

    I have watched your videos over and over. I love your work. I struggle with blending, laying the colors without a hard line. Can you tell me specifically which colors you use on this for the butterfly?

      I use dupont French silk dyes. First orchidee 903 then blue roy 265 then cyan 221 then lighter caraibe 211. I dilute them usually with dupont diluent but if it is not flowing smoothly I mix a bit of alcohol water mix to that mix. I layer dark to light. Try washing silk to remove sizing . Good luck

    Hi, lovely work, do you work on wet silk fabric, I mean did u dampen the fabric before brushing the dye into it?

    • @LynneKiel
      @LynneKiel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always work on dry silk. I wash my light weight silks before painting to remove sizing but I don't wash the heavier silks as they have less sizing .

    For best results white is the colour. You can use any colour but you will get different results. These dyes only work on pure silk

    What steam after painting?

    • @LynneKiel
      @LynneKiel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The dupont French dyes need a process called steam setting to fix the color. This process involves using a pressure cooker or bullet steamer to apply heat pressure and steam. The fabric must be protected from getting any moisture directly on it. Google how to steam set dyes for silk painting and you will find instructions

    love it ... but i have a question ... are you using regular fabric color to paint in silk ... ?

    • @LynneKiel
      @LynneKiel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The base color of the silk is natural white. This gives the brightest base color for more brilliant blending of the silk dyes.

      lymne thank you for your reply ... my question was can i use normal fabric color to draw ? or other color ? may i make the color at home ....

    • @LynneKiel
      @LynneKiel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use Dupont French silk dyes. It is not a paint , it is a concentrate liquid dye that need steam setting to make the colour permanent. You can find silk painting supplies online ,there are many types you can use but Dupont makes the most brilliant shades.I paint only on white fabric colour

    Hi dear .. can these dyes used on some other fabric rather than silk ,? And what are these dyes ? 🙏🏽🙏🏽tel plz

    • @LynneKiel
      @LynneKiel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The dupont french dyes I use are specifically designed for silk. I am sure you can find less expensive dyes for other fabrics. Dharma trading company has a wide selection

    • @LynneKiel
      @LynneKiel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use an plastic applicator bottle with a fine metal nib filled with black solvent base gutta, Then the outlines are drawn by hand applying gentle pressure to the bottle to allow the resist to flow
