Silk painting with dyes - Everything you wanted to know

I filmed this while working over 10 days! Follow each step, no shortcuts! Let me know how it worked for you. Any of the accessories that are not available in your country can be reworked. To give an example, I couldn’t find stretching pins when I started out. So I used paper clips and rubber bands! Use what you have and just get started. Everything will fall in place. Request to give details of dyes used and where to get. For fixsation of the colour what is used? For not to spread the colour and getting mixed with other design what is done? Steaming for how long..

Your video was quite helpful..but please can you tell me about the resist uou used..is it colorless?..i too used a resist ..but it was too transparent..just couldn't see the lines when it dried ..and it was difficult to paint without seeing the outline..can you give me a suggestion on this please..and also ithe color washed off even when ironed..please guide me with these doubts 🙏

Hi Ishita.. thanks a lot for explaining the process.. it truly has sparked a liking towards this art. I wanted to check with on the frame size...
1) What is the frame size that you use for painting sarees (curious as sarees are 5.5 meters ).
2) When you paint the background I haven't seen any breaks in between.. so do u paint the entire background at one go?
3) what frame size do you suggest any beginner can start with?
4) and if possible pls let me know where can I source the frame in India?

I assume you’re asking about the time. 30 mins steaming time is all you need in a pressure cooker.

Yes. Setasilk can be used. silk colours have to be heat fixed. Dyes have to be steam set.
