    I love that you’re not insecure and trying to hide all your “secrets”. You are so right about “over sharing”, there is so much more to speed running than just knowing the setup. People that know that they are good at something and confident in their skills have no issues sharing their knowledge with others. Insecure individuals are terrified that someone else might become as good as them.

    I appreciate your sense of honor. And the challenge implied.... "yeah, this is what I run, but I bet you can't make one as fast". Love it ! I've been in the hobby long enough to realize that it isn't just about the motor and ESC. There is painstaking hours of reducing driveline friction, suspension tuning, tire selection, lubricants, gear ratios, batteries, aero, etc. etc.
    Just because you have a killer strong Castle motor is just the start.....
    Love your channel, dude...

  • @josephtalbot125
    @josephtalbot125 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    You are the reason I even consider on road builds. Prior to finding your channel, I was exclusively an off road and dirt oval guy. But the stuff you do show, like how to build a 150mph car, has shown me there is a challenge to doing this on road stuff, and has gotten me interested in it. It has also convinced me to convert my Jato to a 6s electric system, and use it as an on road car.

      I don't think that's how it happened. Like most technologies, it comes from research groups at universities and if manufacture-able, becomes a reality on the market. Competition only really comes in at the corners to squeeze more performance per dollar. In the case of li-ion, and eventually li-poly, John Goodenough was one of the inventors. He's supposedly working on the next battery technology which will be ceramic based.

    Awesome video! I'm not much of a speed run guy because of the high maintenance cost, but this video was sick, and the fact you didn't hide your build deserves major props. Most speed runners on YT won't share their components breakdown, but you gave pretty much a full breakdown on what you were running. I'm actually blown away that your tires held up at 190+mph. I've see a lot of speed run videos before and blow outs are very common over 165mph...some happen at lower speeds than that. I'm probably guessing a lot of that was attributed to those springs your were running. The springs seemed to keep the car perfectly stiff at the desired ride height and also reduice the vibration traveling through the wheels and chassis. The fact hose tires held up like that for two runs is insane! I appreciate everything you shared in this video! Thanks!

    The first time I watched you, I understood nothing about what you was saying especially anything about the XLX, XLX2 and their functions. I loved the fact that I knew basically nothing about this bit of the hobby and it forced me to keep watching you and doing my own research until I understood what you was saying "Mr Talbot isn't good with the techno babble" 😂. It took a while to understand it all, but it's quite simple once you understand the equipment fully. I'd like to thank you for giving me the push to expand my knowledge of the Hobby 🙏

It’s like bro you work in a hobby shop I own my own business and am a firefighter making more money than I know what to do with. That’s why I spend on rc’s. People underestimate how important body stability really matters at those high speeds. Between the new body mounts and stuff I think that's what's helping so much with these runs.
    That older body with the bolted or riveted aero parts on it I feel like has too much play. I would glue the extra parts on or use some sort of adhesive to prevent any bit of wiggle or air slipping through. You have to think at close to 200mph all that force will find any weakness.
    All this will make the car super unstable.

    • @Kyle_R_Wolfe
      @Kyle_R_Wolfe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With all the other things you raz does combined with bulletproof stability = the best runs. Just my opinion from all the videos I've watch raz do thus far.

    I just got a limitless V2 and first time doing any kinda speed build, so I watched you 6 episode build and set mine up except I’m not a castle fan boy, so I went with a hobbywing max 5 esc and hobbywing 4990 1650kv motor and just trimmed the plastics in front and back for downforce and on stock 39t spool and 35t pinion on this tiny road where I live I got maybe a 1/3 throttle pull and got 127mph. But I’ve got your PP batwing, Carbon driveshaft, full carbon fiber kit, bsr foams that will be here tomorrow. Then I’m going to take it to a long wide road and break these castle records with my hobbywing stuff. Everyone on TH-cam uses castle in there limitless and having problems getting pass 130-140. I’m positive I’ll be past 150s after I get my perfect pass stuff on it because I put a 34t spool on it with a 37t pinion. I’m going to try to figure out this TH-cam thing that way I can show everyone what a beginner did with hobbywing electronics. RAZ you’ve inspired me to get into the speed stuff and I can’t wait to make another order of perfect pass parts

    Well done, 315.4 kph. That’s crazy fast for an RC car 😎 Good thing, if you crash your not in it 😅

    Awesome, thanks for showing, I see no point in keeping secrets, I can use my gear app to figure out gearing and get some where near, I've seen some dodgy editing on speed runs when they show the gnss speed app lol

      Was kind of wonder the same. Makes it sound like a single tp motor. He shows a lot of his cars after his passes with 2 gps’s . I guess Raz is just saying everyone should be more transparent with there claims?

    Mr. Razputant. Have you thought about having a body made with golf ball dimples on the surface? Myth Buster's video shows that a body with a golf ball dimple had much less drag than a smooth body. It was much more efficient in the short-term and long-term testing. I believe they said it's because it breaks up the air molecules which causes less resistance. Just a thought?

    • @AntiVaganza
      @AntiVaganza 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am pretty sure Myth Buster's myth busting was busted later on... Meaning, someone with a more controlled experiment could could not replicate MB's findings in reg. to the dimpled car.
      As for why it might work, I think it was more a thing of keeping laminar flow attached for longer. Not sure.
      On that same note, I keep wondering if there aren't a mile or three to be had in getting rid of those clamps on the RC car and the bracket between the rear wing uprights, those flat fronts on the wings can't really be benefitial either. I don't know why aero is still a tad simple on these RC speed cars. Maybe something is going on at this scale that reduces its importance.

    Raz Between you and Josh at RcRecon I have learned a few things in the building of My Limitless V@ I am running an XlX2 with a 2028 1199Kv and I started my gearing at 39 and 49 basically one to one Running 8S Stock chassis so far other than an EMP motor mount, Running GRP S1 Tires, I went 114mph with a built 2wd Rustler This one I am aiming for 130mph. So I appreciate your videos and I do try and learn from them so thank you and Happy New Year, Oh and I did just update to a new Futaba 7PXR Radio.
