Thank you for watching our Toyota Highlander fender replacement video. Toyota really went above and beyond when assembling this fender. It has a lot of bolts and in some places, is hard to reach. Worry not, we are here to help you and show you how to get this fender off. Toyota did try and make this a bit more difficult compared to how easy the rest of their cars are to work on. Let's get right into it!
    TOOLS NEEDED:
You will need a flat-head screwdriver or panel clip removal tool for the plastic push-pins and clips. You will need a 10mm wrench or socket wrench with an extension.
    PROCESS:
The process is very easy but it can be a bit tricky with the inner fender. You want to start by mounting the fender onto the car. Slide it in towards the door and drop it onto the hood side last. You'll want to put in a couple bolts so the fender holds. We're going to be checking the fender spacing or placement and you don't want the fender falling down. You'll want to watch the door spacing first, make sure that when you open or close the door, it does not rub the fender. Once you get a good spacing insert a couple of the top bolts to hold it in place. Check the hood spacing next. Once that is to your preference, start inserting all the bolts. You can start anywhere but we did so on top. and moved our way to the bottom. When you get to the fender nose, be sure to insert the bolts before you snap on the bumper retainer or bracket. You'll have a hard time if you don't, that plastic bracket won't sit right. Make sure the inside bolt or the bolt behind the fender line is in before you insert the plastic piece. The side with the markings or print faces towards the tire or bumper. Snap that in and secure it with the plastic pins. Now you can secure the fender liner and fender molding. These are held on by plastic push-pins and are easily inserted. If you need new clips, you can get them from your dealership for a few dollars each. Snap the mudflap in and you are all set and good to go!
