So much of the story is held back because it has to jump through hoops and bend over backwards to accommodate the open world, any-order-you-want format. Early on In Wind Waker there were times when the open sea was restricted and you were forced into story beats, but I think the story was better for it. I guess that reinforces Vinny’s point about 3 different Zelda formats.
Sad to see it end. The BotW playthrough is what brought me to Vinesauce. The TH-cam algorithm was serving me up BotW content in that era and I remember clicking on a video, and it was Vinny in the Gerudo desert. I ended up going back and watching the whole playthrough and started watching live.
For a sort of size reference for how enormous this game is (to have an idea of how much you haven't gotten to), I've reached 100% in it. I've gotten everything, even all the korok seeds. The hero's path records up to 256 hours of gameplay, and I've gotten close to filling that up completely. (My Switch says I've played the game for "415 hours or more". The difference in time between those would be time spent in menus, cutscenes, and conversations.)
Ganondorfs 3rd phase when your shield gets hit by his magic orbs it does a colossal amount of damage to shields for some reason. They two shot every shield in the game
I need to keep testing this but I'm pretty sure it almost immediately breaks every piece of gear that isn't the Master Sword He's outputting a concentrated version of gloom that shatters weapons instead of rotting them, I think, which is why it was so crucial for Zelda to juice the sword

I liked this ending, it was symbolic to what Link failed to catch her at the beginning. The action of catching her at the end feels a lot more powerful to me.
Having Zelda stay as a dragon doesn't work because we've only seen her being captured or as a dragon throughout the entirety of these 2 games. The only freedom she had in the present day of the story was between the two games, and that was several years but we saw none of it, so it may as well not have happened. For that reason, keeping her as a dragon would have just felt cruel. In a different story, the sacrifice and the bittersweetness would be appreciated more, but in this one, she deserves to live her life free.
YES she deserves to be happy. It really feels like her whole journey in TOTK was a way for her to get closure in regards to her lineage and her vision for Hyrule. Sonia and Rauru really gave her that love she needed. Now she can go forward her own way. To take that away for the sake of making a story tragic would be a massive disservice to how far she's grown.
@@diegomedina9637 There's 20 minutes of music spread across 6 different phases(no damage, one section broken and two sections broken, both for the first and second halves of the fight) for Colgera. It's a LOT of excellent music for a fight that lasts 2 minutes unless you actively force yourself to fight it very slow🙁
Also represents the ouroboros, representing things of a cyclical nature. History repeats itself in-game and if you wanna get into fan theories, TOTK being at the end of every timeline with sky islands and skyward sword being at the beginning of the timeline with sky islands, the ouroboros could also represent the cycle of the whole Zelda mythos coming to a close, only to start again back in skyloft generations later
@@jonathanwilson7949unfortunately/fortunately they said they wouldn't be doing linear/2d anymore, they believe it's too restrictive. However, they could do remakes, such as Links Awakening, that was pretty good.

So this is it, the final stream. I will miss the Teats of the King streams. I was half hoping Vinny would just keep going "When's the final Zeld...? Uh I don't know chat" for months then randomly in November stream the final episode
I agree and disagree with Vinny about Zelda staying a dragon in the sense that I wished the game had a good and “bad” ending. Personally, I would have liked Link to really dig deep and figure out a way to fix the whole dragon thing, but if you didn’t you would get a bitter sweet ending. The story is definitely the weakest part which is a little weird when I really like how the side quests are written, they felt like Yakuza sub stories which is one of the highest complements I can give. I could go on with a handful of problems but its still a 10/10 game for me because god I love playing it.
What an amazing ride, even got goosebumps again during the boss-fights and the ending sequences. Definitely my goty of 2023. Gonna be very hard for the next Zelda title to live up to TotK with a bar set that high, especially if its not open world. Pretty sure there is gonna be a lot of backlash if they go for another linear Zelda adventure a la Skyward Sword for their next main entry.
I think the problem with Zelda remaining the dragon is that it means there will never be another Zelda again (person, not game lol). All Zeldas have the blood of the Hylia in their veins. They're descended from the original Zelda, who was Hylia reincarnated as a human. If the last Zelda is stuck as a dragon, then there isn't anyone to pass on the Hylia bloodline. The royal guard's bloodline is still around, so there can still be future Heroes, but no Zeldas. But maybe it would've been best for Tears of the Kingdom to be the very end of the series (timeline-wise). Game is so far in the future that I guess they could just make a new Zelda line. Either Hylia reincarnates, or her sealing power comes from elsewhere. I am a bit confused on how Hylia's bloodline was passed down with Sonia's death though. Maybe they had a child we never saw or something? Zelda has both Sonia and Rauru's powers so she has to be a descendent of them.
Sidons power is fantastic. It lets you get wet anywhere (lol) which activates the attack doubling power of zora weapons. So if youve got a good Zora fusion, you can get fucking bonkers powerful weapons this way.
feel like this game has a lot of themes of sacrifice. aside from the obvious, you also have mineru, the zora king was ready to sacrifice himself, and theres many examples in sidequests amongst the sparse story. I hope the next game has a zant or vaati-like sub villain beneath ganon that you can follow throughout the story
@silverhand9965 nope. It's a demon. Someone akin to Ganon, Mad Batter or Ghirahim. (Remember there's an entire dimension of them that has yet to be explored) The barganers are akin to angels or valkyries, who bring souls to the afterlife, Heaven/Hell or Valhalla/Hel, etc. Demons are nothing to sneeze at in Zelda, we've only met a few, but each of them demonstrate tremendous power. Demise. Perhaps the strongest character we've seen on screen, went toe to toe with Hylia and won, and this guy has an army of near equivalents just waiting to be released.
Sacrifice is definitely one of this game's themes. Rauru sacrifices his life for the people of Hyrule, Zelda sacrifices her sense of self to protect Hyrule and especially Link, while Ganondorf sacrifices his sense of self in a selfish gambit for more power.
@@silverhand9965 The dealer statue is an aspect of the horned god, just as the goddess statues are an aspect of Hylia. They aren't the gods THEMSELVES, they're separate spirit entities that act as emissaries for their deities. guessing him switching from hang gliding to normal dropping (not diving) caused Zelda to have an issue pacing to where he was. which I didnt think was possible. I thought the camera push was to sync her forehead position to link in a way you wouldn't easily notice.

whose master sword?
I can’t believe she would swallow Link’s master sword like that
So much of the story is held back because it has to jump through hoops and bend over backwards to accommodate the open world, any-order-you-want format.
Early on In Wind Waker there were times when the open sea was restricted and you were forced into story beats, but I think the story was better for it. I guess that reinforces Vinny’s point about 3 different Zelda formats.
Vinny really does have an uncanny ability to accidentally ruin cool moments. How does this keep happening 😂
Cause he's old now
If he does end up finishing FFXVI, he's gonna accidentally phaseskip the final phase of the final boss like several other streamers. I can feel it.
This entire stream was just vinny talking about how much he fears his community and dislikes interacting with it then messing up the entire final act.

Cant wait for the $30 dlc with another 100 hrs of content.
Ganondorfs 3rd phase when your shield gets hit by his magic orbs it does a colossal amount of damage to shields for some reason. They two shot every shield in the game
it breaks the Hylian shield faster than Guardians ever did.
I need to keep testing this but I'm pretty sure it almost immediately breaks every piece of gear that isn't the Master Sword
He's outputting a concentrated version of gloom that shatters weapons instead of rotting them, I think, which is why it was so crucial for Zelda to juice the sword
@@smcb9979 I think they're the same blasts that outright completely removes one (or more of your hearts) only way you can counter that is with the Master Sword, in a nice little reference to past Ganondorf encounters (more specifically OOT Ganondorf fight)
@@diegomedina9637Ohhh I'm thinking of the dragon phase as "phase three", do you mean the Demon King fight? Yeah, it's the return of the Fisherman's Gambit, I was so excited to see it
If your shield gets hit by the gloom attacks, its durability is immediately reduced to 1. Happens for every shield.
Vinny when hes fighting the hardest enemy in the game: doesn't heal at all or change his armor.
Vinny fighting the literal last victory lap boss: healing, changing armor and nearly dying.
Nearly dying on the one boss that literally cannot kill you in most cases. Real Vinny hours🤔
When Vinny missed the head I actually burst out laughing while saying "you fucking jackass". God that was amazing.
Only Vinny could somehow manage to miss Zelda several times and then also miss the head in that fight 😹
Same, but I kinda just shook my head like a disappointed parent.
Fr, I've never seen anyone actually miss landing on Zelda until now

What Vinny is describing is an ambivert, someone who recharges from solitude and being social in varying intervals. I think most people would fall closer to that than strictly introvert or extrovert.
As an autist, it really just sounds a lot like the 'tism lol
@@codybrady6940fellow autist, wouldn’t be surprised if it was revealed but he also doesn’t immediately strike my radar
@@codybrady6940 Eh I have adhd and he is sometimes relatable to those experiences as well. But I don't think we have any way of knowing truly if vinny is neurodivergent. Ambivert is the next best explanation for him being drained by social interactions.
@@Hikarixhikarixhikari You ain't wrong, though the two do end up pairing together a lot. I'm one such lucky case lol You're right though, and it does border on the parasocial aspect of things to even talk about tbh. Just an observation I've made before
I liked this ending, it was symbolic to what Link failed to catch her at the beginning.
In a different story, the sacrifice and the bittersweetness would be appreciated more, but in this one, she deserves to live her life free.
you are so real for that i feel like i'm going insane seeing everyone root for zelda suffering all the time everytime
Too many things have non-happy endings these days.

I will miss the Teats of the King streams.
I didn't know you could take a picture of Ganondorf and then have Hudson make a model of him because i didn't think the picture would save after the credits and load the file again.
Also they seem rather disinterested over "The Demon King" being depicted in their display, i was hoping for some new dialogue from that reveal.
I have my problems with the story, but god that final boss is so good I love it.

Same. Music in games is so underrated/overlooked oftentimes!
When I got to the cutscene where Zelda transforms into a dragon, I HAD to look up if she stayed that way XD I kinda spoiled myself on one of the ending bits but I would have been pretty upset if she did actually stay a dragon haha. I respect your thoughts though Vinny, definitely would have been interesting to see that kind of ending but I don't think I personally could handle that heartbreak.

@@smcb9979 I dunno, BOTW to previous Zelda is completely different so hard to judge it against thos games.
TOTK is just better BOTW in every way
@@silverhand9965I guess that's kind of what I mean, tho. all that kept going through my mind in the third phase was: “Link, hurry! You’re running out of rings!”
I was half hoping Vinny would just keep going "When's the final Zeld...? Uh I don't know chat" for months then randomly in November stream the final episode
Amazing streams for an amazing game. I loved every bit of TOTK, and I am glad to have seen this journey conclude for you as well!

Gonna be very hard for the next Zelda title to live up to TotK with a bar set that high, especially if its not open world. Pretty sure there is gonna be a lot of backlash if they go for another linear Zelda adventure a la Skyward Sword for their next main entry.
Holy fuck, the final fight was a shitshow, i knew Vinny would not disappoint :D
2:16:16 comedic timing
this game was so good, glad i got to experience both of them when i did
I think the problem with Zelda remaining the dragon is that it means there will never be another Zelda again (person, not game lol).
Even without cheesing the wet warrior buff Sidon water attack can pack quite a punch and it also shreds through Gibdos like they're a wet napkin.
@diegomedina9637 the only reason ppl don't like it is because it's not as multi-purpose like Riju or Younobo.
@@FierceDeity35 Then clearly people have never used him effectively enough. Topaz rod plus Sidon does make a great combo
feel like this game has a lot of themes of sacrifice. aside from the obvious, you also have mineru, the zora king was ready to sacrifice himself, and theres many examples in sidequests amongst the sparse story. I hope the next game has a zant or vaati-like sub villain beneath ganon that you can follow throughout the story
Already foreshadowed - talk to Jerrin, Robbie's wife in the Lookout shelter. She mentions an entity called the "horned god", Hylia's opposite
@@smcb9979 Isn't that just the bargainer statue tho?
@silverhand9965 nope.
It's a demon. Someone akin to Ganon, Mad Batter or Ghirahim. (Remember there's an entire dimension of them that has yet to be explored)
The barganers are akin to angels or valkyries, who bring souls to the afterlife, Heaven/Hell or Valhalla/Hel, etc.
All the dialogue from the goddess statues and poe collectors in this game would suggest so, as they perceive themselves seperately from one another.
I didn't want the game to end
guessing him switching from hang gliding to normal dropping (not diving) caused Zelda to have an issue pacing to where he was. which I didnt think was possible. I thought the camera push was to sync her forehead position to link in a way you wouldn't easily notice.
If you get ragdolled by Ganon and don't fix it, she'll completely miss and a cutscene will play to bring you back up.
And finally, Vinny has met the hot Crenando.
What a journey it's been chat. Thanks Vincent Sauce for giving us such a fun playthrough!

Its actually bonkers how he misses such a huge moment where Ganondorf has thr ability to deplete a max heart from you. The game makes a huge deal about it by moving the hearts to the middle of the screen XD
