I personally am not against these type of paint jobs for those who are on a budget because at least you're trying to actually fix up the car. Besides these paint jobs are just temporary. I see many people just have old cars sitting in their yards and never have a plan to do anything with them.

Dude, that turbo stuff had actually a pretty big fan pattern! You know, that $25 green harbor freight gun is actually pretty decent. It only works well for 2-3 paint jobs, but for $25 can really help minimize the orange peel. Napa/Advance/O'reilleys typically mix paint and have a entire base/clear system for reasonable. Never thought of a ceramic coat for clear, very nice!
Yeahh, but then I gotta buy a decent size air compressor which is hundreds of dollars and whatnot... I was also rushing spraying this car because of time and weather, I think I could minimize orange peel with more time on my hands and not relying on the wood stove to dry it overnight. I also never do this really, haha. I didn't even prime the box on my Toyota before painting it and it came out actually as good or better than this. It's just a work truck though. And thanks man! Yeah the ceramic coat works very well. Makes it easy to clean too

If you listened to the video, this is just a temporary paint job to make the car one color until I find better panels and save up to have it professionally painted back to the original color, red. I mentioned in the video that this isn't a professional paint job. This is also spray paint, so it's obviously not professional. I also chose white to hide imperfections like I've stated and so it's easier to paint match when I add other body modifications like a lip, spoiler, etc. The car is nowhere near finished. I was just sick of it looking like a stolen, drug mobile. The goal of this paint job was to make the car all one color. Not to teach someone how to paint a car. I thought I made that clear throughout the video as other people have noticed.
I too have a primered gsr.. not because i want to but because i want whats best for my teggy yet i have another lover that can take me up a mountain. Its tough

one tip i will give you. if your hoping to get a car painted by a pro one day. Spray paint body will only cost you an extra 1200$ they will charge you or more to deal with it. trying to sand down spay paint gums up the pads fast. when i finally after years had the cash to paint my crown vic. i got hit with a extra charge i was called about it and yelled at by the paint shop every 3 days about how many sanding pads its gumming up they almost told me to go F my self and handed back my car unfinished they got so upset. what should of been a 2 week turned in to 2 months of sand and body work for affectivly a shop called Day One Paint and body. they do alot of taxi service and paints so legit 2 3 day turnaround for fleet cars. what a nightmare for them AND ME.

Definitely looks good and I'm gonna be honest most professionals tend to hate this because they loose customers because of these types of paint but it's more worth this than spending 8k dollars on a paint job that the next day will get wrecked by pebbles on the road and people using trimmers on the road.

Unfortunately, keep getting bailed on. I don't understand why. They'll be all for doing it and then just ghost me basically. I have one other lead on someone that may actually do them. Otherwise my only option will be to find a clean shell and swap all my stuff over to it
Your shell isn't to bad it's pretty clean. I say fix that shell, If that's the only spot that has rust. I know the feeling I helped some people in the past doing swaps to have them ghost me once the job was done. Only wanted to hang out and enjoy the cars lol.
Just remember, you can paint over anything with the oil based rustoleum, but not the other way around ! You will have to strip off all the rustoleum, or use a special sealer coat to paint that car base coat ,clear coat.

But doing something 90% good is better than doing nothing at all for sure ! DIY can't be as good as work in a shop by professionnals with skills, tools, expensive products of course, but in my opinion it is not only about saving money, but about the pride you get from knowing you did it yourself. Don't let a minority of critics loose this pride.
Bro..... if you already have an air compressor, just pick up a Harbor Freight Special Purple Paint Sprayer for $20 or less. Learn how to prep and paint, it ain't hard and you can make your car turned out professionally looking.... at a budget. Just use Rust-Oleum paint, it works and a lot of folks have done budget paintjobs that turn out damn good.
Yeah, only problem is you want to set that up down low. Only way I could do that is if I plywood the whole height of the opening in my garage door and have the fan on the floor. Just doesn't work well with the door on my shop. If I had a normal garage door, I'd totally do it

Honestly you can make this kind of paint job look good if you sand the orange peel out and use a 2k clear coat

I did the same paint job on my integra
I couldn't get the moldings off so I took off all the panels to get to the clips. Your way is so much easier

Wait till paint tacks up and drys up for 2-4 days then buff it with rubbing Compound but go to your nearest paint store or auto parts store.
