Quick tip; you’re suppose to turn your gun upside down before you spray. You pull the trigger until the liner crinkles up. That way if you spray upside you’ll have no issues. The 3M guy came to our AutoBody class to show us how to use the PPS. Almost 20 years of painting experience here. Also you turn the spray can upside down and spray until nothing comes out, they punch a hole in it. OG showed me that in the 90’s. Love the vids man! Respect from Southwest Texas🤙🏽
rustoleum 2x/painter's touch use an any-angle spray tip that doesn't let you tilt the can upside down to clean the tip. the idea is that you can be underneath something and keep spraying or use the can in hard-to-reach areas. the only way to keep the tips clean is to remove them and clean them by hand/soak them.
I've been emptying old spray cans into my PPS cups to use on practice panels for almost a year now. Cheap, works great and it's fun to blend some of them. Thanks for the video 👍
We used to do this in the 80s.... Turn the can upside down to release all the pressure from the can....then puncture the can to make a hole + another hole. This way you can pour the paint out with no need to spray....
Been doing this since the mid 2000s. Especially with things like pb blaster cause the aerosol would always run out before the can was half empty. Saved a lot of money and have a whole pile of marbles lol
Thanks for doing a pearl with the intercoat. It came out great. It looks like Lemans Blue that Chevy used on many models. I am looking at something similar, but adding very fine silver flake to the pearl for my Isuzu Pup.
back in the 80s we would turn the can upside down and just let out all the air, these new cans are on another level, my point is we just drill a hole in the can after the air was gone. now they have tips on the cans that lay a wider path. the gun still is better. thank u for the video, i know the time it takes to film and edit.
I've used that can paint in my spray gun before I set the can up in a vise and poked a tiny little hole in it with a nail in the top. I poke one on each side let all the aerosol out and then the paint flows out nicely. Another way to do it would be just turn the can completely upside down and spray all the heirs all out without losing any paint and then poked a couple holes in it when it doesn't have any pressure and then it dumps out really nice
Nice! I love the idea of using the rustoleum in the spray gun. I’m going to give it a try…..for some reason rustoleum doesn’t make all the colors in qt cans……looks super nice….i bet it looks even better in the sun.
Should i do a pink with a white pearl over instead? I want the white to mostly show and only a tiny bit of pink to show through. Sorry never painted let alone tried a pearl. Youve inspired me.
I had NO IDEA this was even possible! I had wondered before, but I figured I'd be laughed at if I asked. Wow! Just wow... Thank you for teaching me something new today!❤
Great video and explanation of the process. I have a ‘63 Impala SS that’s all original that I need to do some body work to and eventually paint…this will be a huge help. Got a subscribe from me!
Dang man, you are a legend! Such a gorgeous blue! I have a 92 Lumina that is gray, faded with minimal clear coat. I wonder how it would do to sand the remaining clearcoat and respray it with the eye candy and the clear. Or would I need to do a base coat like you did here?
Love to see results spraying over primer! Grey, red, black! Would be super helpful to do a small panel! Primer then clear coat with a few different shades! Set out for several months! See how it holds up! I’m thinking the clear will make primer hold up fine! Why spend hundreds of dollars for paint? If not needed!
Im here to learn. I'm horrible at body work and I'm on a tight budget. Haters gonna hate. Arc orange and a 👻 gold or red might be a nice combo. I used your code btw. Thanks
I think one of the design advantages that you’re missing is that the cup liner is supposed to shrink down giving you no interruption in paint supply when the gun is inverted or semi-inverted ✌🏻 I’m also wondering if you pull the paint out of the gun between coats if it’s not drying in the tip
Olla mi amigo. Bro that paint looks good not over the top laity just subtle colour blend I like it.. tip for future reference if u gonna use a rattle can debase the can first then cut it and pour the contents into your sprayer cup of done it a few times when I only need to do a small section saves buying a whole lot and mixing it with the thinner an what not cos it's already mixed into a very thin paint... but again awesome job I love the subtle colour gradient light to dark stay blessed bro
GT your videos are awesome keep up the good work. A request though. What would happen if you mix the storm gray and the Senshi red and sprayed them over a red or black base? Or better yet a dark plum base
Idk how I got to watching this. 😂 But...as I do I keep looking over my shoulder at my 05 Ram. That blue looks a lot like the Atlantic Blue Pearl that's on it.
Great video, quick question. when putting platinum clear, do you mix it with the activator ? If so, what quantity do you put in the cup for putting clear coating on a whole car ?
Is that car damaged by dogs the same one I saw a video on TH-cam about? Two pit bulls chasing a cat and they tore up the front left fender of a car. Maybe that happens more often than I thought.
That spray paint is an enamel, correct? All of it is either enamel or lacquer unless it has the button to push and release an activator as far as I know. Do you know if (besides the propellant) spray can paint has anything in it that makes it any different than cans of inexpensive enamel or lacquer? Is it just pre-reduced? I also don't understand if some is labeled "oil-based" enamel whether that is different than any other.
Have you seen the gold video? th-cam.com/video/pkka9mNVWDk/w-d-xo.html I added some pigment to the rustoleum base (5 grams to 7oz.), but it didn't seem to make a difference. Maybe the colors? or just needed more?.. 🤷♂️ I'll try again. The pigment is best used in an intercoat or a clearcoat, so it floats on top of the base. Adding it to the basecoat will lose a lot of effect because the basecoat coverage is too thick and covers the pigments. You could try as a control coat. After the panel has a wet coat, continue spraying at a distance so the pigment has a longer time to land on top of the paint. But then you're wasting a bit more material. I recommend an intercoat and then clear for the best results!

True true 30 years here and I always turn my pressure to 26 to 30 and turn my gun upside down to spray at first gets all the extra air out
@@GenuineRage thanks for the pro- tip bro!🤙🏽
@@ericlomax5135 yeah I also spray at about 2 bar. That PPS also saves alot of material, you’re just about able to spray every drop!
Bro you got some bob ross vibes going on
That black at the bottom man looked killer!

So two holes? And where do you puncture the hole, from the bottom of the can or side?
Thanks for doing a pearl with the intercoat. It came out great. It looks like Lemans Blue that Chevy used on many models. I am looking at something similar, but adding very fine silver flake to the pearl for my Isuzu Pup.
I like how it fades out with the black base. Nice color

Love it it looks like lemans blue by Chevy in the late 60s early 70s
That’s exactly what I was thinking. One of my favorite colors. I’m thinking I might wanna get some of that blue pearl
That was a great color, I'm partial to blues and deep reds but that blue was awesome!!
Very good presentation and paint job
GT, beautiful color and great outcome! Thanks for showing the way to lower cost auto painting!
That color is great. It’s really close to the metallic blue that Ford specifically made for the NY state police Crown Vic’s. Love it.
Dude! Looks great, thanks for the experimentation for us beginners! Cheers
Good work. Beauty comes out of the end of the spray gun.
You always do nice work, it's inspiring me to paint my own car.
Came out clean
Great color choices

Looks great and its economical especially when doing a small job such as a motorcycle,
Planning to do this very thing with the hammered color gray
what is the wait time before reassembling the cart....I am thinking a week
Impressive skills and results in the paint.
Nice job! I like the technique to use the spray can in a paint gun. There are times where I can only find a color in the spray can.
Nice job! Thanks for sharing it.
Makes me want to paint now 😄
Real nice for spray paint
Wow, that ultra flat looks like it laid down really good for being from a rattle can. Sprey paints are getting good now days.
There are videos on decanting aerosol spray paint. Works great I use mine all the time.
Nice! I love the idea of using the rustoleum in the spray gun. I’m going to give it a try…..for some reason rustoleum doesn’t make all the colors in qt cans……looks super nice….i bet it looks even better in the sun.
That is so cool. I didn't think you could do that. Thanks for sharing
Can you do the same thing with clear coats
Should i do a pink with a white pearl over instead? I want the white to mostly show and only a tiny bit of pink to show through. Sorry never painted let alone tried a pearl. Youve inspired me.
Galactic ghost blue over a bright white Rustoleum, would love to see that!
Rusto Bright white?...well matte white is not bright...a off white. Looking for a new bright white,
GM had a white white on their older Corvette
Great video. Your work has really inspired me!
I had NO IDEA this was even possible! I had wondered before, but I figured I'd be laughed at if I asked.

I’d love that look on my Tacoma!

Man that is nice with that pearl over it.
Nice job. The cans of spray paint are like 2/3 propellant so you are not left with much paint after that.
Dang man, you are a legend! Such a gorgeous blue! I have a 92 Lumina that is gray, faded with minimal clear coat. I wonder how it would do to sand the remaining clearcoat and respray it with the eye candy and the clear. Or would I need to do a base coat like you did here?

I swear this fender will now last a thousand years 😂, how many layers does it have

Awesome. I'm about to spray a similar set up. But on a Honda blue with AOI HI BLUE from eye candy pearls .

A great video brother ! Thankyou 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I like the blue. But thinking of something a lot darker. Almost black and in the sun blue.
Great job!
U should add a little purple in it
Really nice and informative. Thanks very much.
I wonder how turbo black paint would do as a base since it already has that wide fan.
Wow that looks really good 👍
Was wondering if you could show us how to do the marble affect
Thanks
Right on brother
Idk how I got to watching this. 😂

How long does the rustoleum base coat have to dry before you clear over? Thanks
I would wait two weeks but who knows. Spray paint off gases for a long time
Within 12 hours... Any longer then it needs to be sanded or scuffed.
@@gladememmott3001 thank you
AWESOME THANKS
enjoyed the upload bro! great video!
Killer Dude! Nice!
Good video and nice color..wut size compressor are you using?
That came out nice 4sho that looks 🔥
Very nice.
Nice!
I have 3 Sata 90s and i prefer the habor freight guns to be honest. The spectrum kicks ass
Hey man thanks bro!
Looks great!
Hey were do you live at you do a great job need my truck painted .
Looks great
One big complaint! You make the process look too easy! 😅. Great job! How am I going to pass by that spray gun on my next visit to Harbor Freight?
Nice what size compressor do you use with the hte spectrum spray gun?
You got my subscription . And a like for this informative video . Ty
Hey buddy that blue is nice would you do my 66 Chevelle?
Great video, quick question. when putting platinum clear, do you mix it with the activator ? If so, what quantity do you put in the cup for putting clear coating on a whole car ?
Eye Candy has a new blue called 'Umi Blue' can you show the effect please
Is that car damaged by dogs the same one I saw a video on TH-cam about? Two pit bulls chasing a cat and they tore up the front left fender of a car.
Maybe that happens more often than I thought.
Dam bro it looks bad ass. Can you do a black base with dark charcoal gray
It's really eye opening to see how much paint we get for 8-10 bucks per can, it's hardly any. Have you tried another brand like vht or Duplicolor ?
Rustoleum is best honestly.
found the color of my next project!!!
Can you do that for an airbrush too and reduce it down with something ?

NICEJOB CLEAN
Have you ever tried adding Mica powder or eye candy to base coat in order to change the color a bit, or is it STRICTLY for clear coat?
Have you seen the gold video?
th-cam.com/video/pkka9mNVWDk/w-d-xo.html
I added some pigment to the rustoleum base (5 grams to 7oz.), but it didn't seem to make a difference. Maybe the colors? or just needed more?.. 🤷♂️
I'll try again.
The pigment is best used in an intercoat or a clearcoat, so it floats on top of the base. Adding it to the basecoat will lose a lot of effect because the basecoat coverage is too thick and covers the pigments.

I recommend an intercoat and then clear for the best results!
is that rustoleus as durable as the factory car paints?
what spray cup system are you using on the spray gun?
What type of set up did you use? As far as compressor size? Psi? And air hose size ? Regulator
What is the length of time between coats - clear and pearl
