This is still very improveable. It looks fairly clean, but there are some obvious mistakes. I think a sub 1:55 will eventually happen here, but this run is decent enough for now. Will probably come back and get the sub once we have some more tools. Bruiser and bdasher are about equal, it just felt easier to me to take the corners with bruiser. I think it might make pasta a little harder, but beyond that it's the same.
Strategy changes/discoveries:
Implemented Leg Strat (Tree Boost)
Shroomstrat changed to 1-2-0 to beat cycles
Hopping out of the smt around the last corner is slower
Doing a proper ssmt rather than an mt into the smt on lap 3

I love how this time is pretty much identical to the non tas record in Mario Kart Wii.
The non tas record in mk7 is a 1:55.7, so they're all pretty close

@@tatesscripts4782 it should be possible. There's improvement to be done on all 3 laps, and any improvements made to the first 2 laps will result in lap 3 being faster because of the first escalator

mk7 is slightly different, but yeah 8 has a very different aesthetic

There's a fairly decent sized community around the game. I can't speak Japanese, I use an online translator. I can speak english and some french

A lot of the rest of it is a bit more complex. kart hitboxes aren't documented anywhere as far as I know. Character hitboxes match the weight class, outside of metal Mario who has a smaller hitbox than the other heavyweights. Most specific questions could probably be answered in the discord server, which can be accessed through the players page (www.mariokart64.com/mk7/)

This was recorded in citra and it was way too much effort to try and import the miis faces into citra. That's the texture that shows up if the game can't find any miis to pull from
i never knew about that wall ride at 0:59 and 1:37. Could be used for MK7 hide and seek if it ever comes...

TAS (Tool Assisted Speedrun) means that you use external tools to give yourself an advantage. William is playing on Citra with tools such as save states and slowdown, used here to create a theoretical maximum on the track

What’s the pasta you talk about in the description? Is it a strat/section?
It’s the wallride he does at 0:59 and then again on lap 3. For some reason, the mk7 community calls wall riding strats pasta. Hope that helped!

@@FoxyGamesYT Ohhh. just take tighter corners and learn how to delay drift (don't input a direction you want to turn until as late as possible before your kart touches the ground after hopping)

@@ethanchoudhury8620 Yeah, it's pretty precise, you have to land as far down the rail as you can and hop as late as possible before the slope starts

It's not actually off-road, it has the same properties as the sand on the road in Bowser castle 1
