  • I show you a beginners guide to the Full Valet. I take you through the step by step process to getting a clean car. We take a look at the difference between Detailing & Car Valeting and why they both have their place in the industry.
📰 A Little Blog to follow up from this video:
This car did not need an exhaust polish. In most cases like the engine bay an enhancement would be a good idea however discussing with the customer first is always best as they may want it fully polished so take the extra time during the phone call to work out how to make the most money from the valet.
Also When I mentioned getting the brushes out for the Exterior I meant using the super soft brushes as featured in my exterior detailing videos.

@@epicautomotivedetailing agreed. I don't understand why anyone is a fan of car washes. Expensive and scratch yards tbh. Rather have a dirty car until I have the time to do it myself properly. Even a lazy prewash and blast down with a pressure washer is better than a hand wash.

Brilliant video Dave and I agree with you about most drivers’ perception of a ‘valeted’ car…. most of them would struggle to even see or appreciate the extra steps which take you on to a ‘detail’.
I’d leave detailing for customers who understand it and more importantly are willing to pay for and enjoy that next level of treatment.
I’ve done a few 8-hour heavy jobs for friends and have felt disappointed when they didn’t even notice some of the detailed enhancements I’d carried out 😢

Valeting is a good way to make big money if you do it right. 90% of customers on the roads today just want a nice clean car, not all the fancy ceramic coatings and extra's that the higher end car owners want. Most people have a normal (affordable) car that the masses drive and just want to keep it clean and shiny which does increase the resale value by a lot because you have kept your vehicle valeted for it's entire life and it's clean and in good condition when (or if) you sell the vehicle. Of course this only works if the customer is a regular and truly keeps their vehicle clean for it's entire life. Even if you did this type of valeting two to three times per year, you would keep your vehicle in pristine condition throughout it's life! I had a take home police vehicle for about 25+ years when I was a cop and i would do a full "valet" on my patrol car at home about every 3 or 4 months with maintenance wipe downs and cleanings in between. My patrol cars were always sought after at the auctions after it was time to switch them out for new ones due to end of life cycle as it was in like new condition, even after 150,000 to 200,000 miles!. Taxi cab companies would buy them and use them for many more years. It doesn't take much to keep your vehicle in great condition. By simply doing a quick vacuum and wiping down the interior with an interior product for all surfaces like Soft 99 Was Mist+ and you will be good to go for many months to complement the valet you just paid for. Get the Valet repeated every few months and your vehicle will stay pristine for a long time. It's just simple, 10 minutes worth of maintenance per week with a vacuum (Hoover), and a quick wipe down to keep the valet going a lot longer. A product like Wash Mist+ can even tackle the windows (along with all the other surfaces inside), with light cleaning and a slightly clean and fresh scent left behind and your interior looking fresh and factory (matte) showroom appearance on the leather and plastics. A further product I would highly recommend that's fairly affordable is their So2PUR which has no scent but kills any odor inside your vehicle and leaves behind no scent. A quick spray down (if you do have odors) will tackle that, and you will have a quick clean interior with only a few useful products. I just wish Soft 99 sold Wash Mist+ in a gallon format in concentrate form. Detailers would probably use it more for quick wipe downs if it was available in concentrate gallon form to make it economical for the valeter or detailer.

I work for a company in the UK called "SVS" (specialist valeting services), we are contracted to the car dealerships and wow, i can't say how much i agree with this video, im just a "valeter", but what these car folks don't understand, each car needs a different cleaning method and each car is in a different condition... it's so frustrating because dealerships think a full valet can be done in 1 or 2 hours (2 hours if absolutely disgusting)... but just the start of this video explains, clay barring, polishing, engine bay cleaning, fall out, wheel cleaner, steam cleaning carpets etc... and this is why a lot of car valeters quit their jobs, as they are under appreciated.
i too have thought so many times about quitting, but what else is out there where i travel the uk... almost nothing.

@@epicautomotivedetailing im not gonna lie, im not the best valeter in the world either, but i do take high pride in my job, i buy my own cloths spraybottles, shampoo, wash mits etc from auto glym, auto smart, traflagur, maguires, etc etc... so ye, i take pride in my job, and to be honest, i am pretty good, but as i said, ive come across people who are amazing at what they do, like in your videos... but heres another thing, im supposed to use "what is on site" and this is the reason i say i buy some of my own stuff, i turn up and ask for a "clean window cloth", i look at it, its dirty, i smell it, i can smell the tar and glue remover, or the polish, and im like, hey mate, isnt this your window cloth, why does it smell like tar and glue... oh ye well we just use it, then the car has a shit finish.... but i constantly try and watch valeting channels, tino's car care from london for example, now yourself, among plenty of others, because i do want to be one of the top valeters, i want to be up there, i want to be the best i can be.
so in this video i just watched, i appreciate every detail you went into, everything you just mentioned, i appreciate it, as i have now discovered a new exterior trim shine, the turtle wax one :)
however, well done on the videos, i can say as a valeter with some experience, hands down you did a fantastic job!

    • @epicautomotivedetailing

There are a few ways of removing tar but beginners may spend too much time faffing during the wash process in the direct sunlight for example so it could be overwhelming for them. By using this method after its dried you can still achieve removal of the tar by being careful and working one step at a time so its actually easier

Help needed! I've bought my own kit so I can start washing my car and my parents car at home, because I'm sick of finding scratches and mad swirl marks around the bodywork.
After washing both cars I've noticed chips on the front of the bonnets (there were a some dotted around the rest of the car but more prevalent on the bonnet). I'm wondering if this is to do with washing the car from too close? I did try to keep a good distance at all times.
The only other thing I can think of is we have recently washed the drive and there are loose stones around. Could it have been the stones being picked up by the water?

    • @epicautomotivedetailing
      @epicautomotivedetailing  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It's most probably just stone chips from the road. You have to hold pressure washer in paint for a long time to remove the paint

ummm im divided on this one lol
Im not a pro, but am interested in starting something myself, and I dont think i would be offering this as a service. Perhaps you can tell me how many cars you would do this for in 1 day and what returns it would yield?
I would be more interested in detailing than valet, but i think a balance of both would be ideal.
But hand touching a car like that for probably not much money ... its not worth it is it? What about using spray on protections that are done wet.. like Koch Chemie Pw ProtectorWax... or a cheaper spray wax? Be far more efficient with time wouldnt it and give the same time of protection most likely.. I mean you wouldnt use a very expensive wax for this job, so again i would say use a product in a lance or spray it on and wipe off to save time. Valet people arent car nuts....are they ?
If someone knows about detailing, they tend to know about or care about cars, and therefore you would use a different method of care and products... its not just about correction?
Clay mits/towels are great for maintenance washes and leave no marring... in my experience anyway, so a correction isnt something to worry about with those. And If i were to use a clay bar for a valet, then i just wouldnt risk it.. and it would be a detailing job.. period.
Maybe this is where myself as a weekend warrior and not a pro comes in... because my conscience is about my own cars and friends cars.. not about running a business and making profits.
Great vid anyway... and I like your openness about what you do and how you want to offer the advice!

Love the videos sir, congratulations great content again, thanks for anything you do for the industry i admire you.
At the clay bar issue, personally speaking, i always clay the car ( combined with iron decon) independent if i polish or no after.
I am aware for any marring, BUT, the paint is really clean and completely smooth after the clay bar service, witch a customer can feal immediately.
If any marring happen usually means that the paint was heavily contaminated and probably already swirled up. But even in this scenario when i apply a common wax with a simple DA and a simple wax ( red/black) application pad, usually remove any potential marring on the spot.
That is my point of view...
    Again congratulations sir, keep up.
    My kind regards

Such a controversial topic of conversation just now . Personally I feel like too many guys in my area are calling themselves detailers but really they are valeting and doing bare minimum at best , the amount of calls I have asking to go and fix someone else’s work who has overcharged and underperformed . I try to pride myself on immaculate attention to detail and will happily spend longer on a car if it needs it even though I’m mobile I won’t walk away until it’s spotless all over
I also think detailing starts when your really going into the depth of the car inside and out and perfect it with
    Professional techniques

I think the core problem comes down to client expectations and lack of knowledge of what we actually do. They presume a wash is a wash! without realising our costs or the work involved. Im always happy to adjust for the client because its all about giving them the best satisfaction for there money
