    People need to stop throwing shade at upscaling. I get it, but while we're out here getting gouged for GPU's, why not take everything we can get from software/driver enhancements? Great vid, thank you!

      I wanna wait till there are some Oculink enclosures that aren't super janky like the current ones that are just the riser and need a separate power supply. I wanna test something that is actually a viable option for people to use.

    Great video! You are totally at fault for me getting this system when all I need is a console emulator and video streaming station!
    As for games, Fallout 4 London (expansion mod) is coming out in April...try the Tale of two Wastelands mod if you want to revisit New Vegas. Finally, any chance of seeing how this thing handles 7 Days to Die?

    These powerful mini PCs have totally changed my outlook on high end hardware and high resolution. For years I've gamed at 3440x1440 and while it's great, the additional resources to run the higher resolution are hardly worth it (and games often will feel sluggish without upscaling), while 1080 on a big 75" screen still looks pretty good, even for a graphics snob like myself. Framerates are way more important to me for >60 FPS (preferably >120 FPS), and similar to your conclusion, it's becoming clear to me that 1080 on my mini PC & TV have been basically just as good has high resolution. My next monitor is going to be 4k and have more screen than 3440 and I'll just game at 1080 at perfect integer scaling when 4k is too taxing. The unspoken benefit of course is lower GPU requirement since GPU pricing is really getting out of sight. It's a win win, win...

    • @eduonkhl
      @eduonkhl 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you really think 1080p looks good on 75 inches you're either nowhere near the "graphics snob" you think you are or sit so far away that you might aswell just play with binoculars. You'd be surprised how bad 1080p can look on a 4k display despite being a perfect pixel match for integer scaling. Many scalers just don't have this functionality and always use bilinear so make sure to turn on gpu scaling which should help with this issue. Pixel aperture ratio can also make 4 pixels displaying the same colour look worse than a single one.
      Otherwise I do actually find the idea of a mini pc neat. Current ATX desktops are incredibly inefficient at idle/low and sometimes even medium loads and I really hope that in the future we'll see more radical designs with high end hardware to improve low power efficiency. Until then however a mini pc with laptop like idle power draw and high efficiency at these low loads looks like a nice to have for when you play older games, just watch videos or office and school work. You get the big screen experience of a desktop with the power draw of a laptop, not to say none of the drawbacks that come with laptops like the battery becoming useless within a year if you use it in this stationary kind of way and you can still switch to your high end desktop easily if you hook everything up to a KVM.

    Did you try to set the vram to higher GB to get a better gaming result? i doubt you did that.
    The 780M works at 1080p with 4-8gb, at some games are 12-16gb vram needed to work fine. Less GB result into outsourcing it on the ram, which if its also not enough, outsource it on the M.2 SSD which cause very bad performance.

      I have used my quest 3 with the 680m igpu. It isn’t good enough. 1440p is basically half of what you need. Half life alyx was 100% gpu with the resolution turned down to minimum at 60hz it would also stutter because of heating. These minipc are incredible but only good for old games. There is the eGPU route but I don’t recommend that because it’s bulky and expensive. You may aswell just get a regular PC

      @@tysonristau4995hadn't made it back to post about it yet, but kicked off the Space Engineers VR preview using the Quest 2 (have no other PC VR games currently) was running at around 10-15 FPS on a UM690S with the 680m, 48GB DDR5 4800 and running at 85 watt to maximize performance. I have not yet given it a go on the UM790Pro with the 780m yet. There's also a learning curve since the Q2 kind of takes over the display, making doing most things a bit tetchy...

    Would have subbed, but showing that you watch Hasan Piker and then go on to mention reddit in the same sentence. Well that turned into an immediate no for me. Maybe stay away from suggestive political bias on your videos (not on either side here, but just hate politics in general).

    • @EVOTech1

    • @seditiouswalrus
      @seditiouswalrus 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@EVOTech1 It seems self explanatory to me, the problem is that it (politics) runs and ruins everything piece of content consumed, even if attached to it superficially like your video does. Reddit and Hassan, just like Twitter and Ben Shapiro, all go hand in hand, some of us are just quite literally just fed up with it. I could care less about your views, bias, etc, all I am interested in is tech.

    • @EVOTech1
      @EVOTech1  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      that really just sounds like a you problem. To any person who actually doesn't give a shit, they just see a random ass video playing on there. You choose to get upset over it and take way more meaning in it than anyone really should. I think it's better if you learn to ignore things you don't like instead of angrily shaking your fist at the sky.

    • @seditiouswalrus
      @seditiouswalrus 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@EVOTech1 When these `political` patterns emerge in random videos, then I do take some issue with it, after all your video is being pitched to me via the great youtube algorithm because I like to watch _tech related videos._ If I don't say anything nothing will get done, so I make a point to at least _say something._
      Then again, you are but one among many creators who either willingly show some sort same of suggestive political bias (intentional or not) or just outright do so.
      Personally I don't like it, but you take it as you will, I still say your content would do better by not showing political alignments of any sort. Good luck to you!
