In this video I am water marbling white plastic Christmas ornaments using acrylic paint. Use your imagination to determine how to use these unique decor items.
Please let me know if you have any questions or want to try marbling for yourself. I do offer some of the supplies and even a "try it" kit.

Fantastic. Can’t wait to try this
I'm going to have fun now! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. ❤️✌️🙏
I’ve been doing the pouring paint. This is my next ornament experiment. Orange and purple
Thank you for watching. Have you poured over a vase before?
just came across this video what an awesome craft .I love the colors ,the designs that come from dipping.
Thank you so much for watching. It is so much fun to create with this form of art!
omg, u just threw that big paper away aftet cleaning the surface, u should have shown us what it looked like, all those colors & de
I must have missed something . For beginners do you have something for beginners? Like what kind of paint you use . How to mix everything to what to use. Thank you

Your acrylic paint looks thin, did you mix it with something, if so what do you use and what is the ratio.
Thank you for watching! If needed, I thin it with distilled water. I cannot give an actual ratio, because it depends on the type of paint used, the brand and the color. Each paint (and brand) is slightly different. As stated in my book, it should be 2% milk consistency.
Hot pink, purple, turquoise 😮
Love your work , buuuut it seems you sure waste alot of paint which is expensive, are you thinning down your paint?
@@francescrosse4301 Thank you for watching. It depends on the paint. Some floats as-is, some needs to be thinned.
Your local newspaper probably gives away or sells there paper end rolls. They have lots of them here where I am from.
Did you have to prep the ornaments before you marbled them? Have you tried marbling on silver ornaments or do they have to be white?
Thank you for watching. I prep all my items for marbling, including ornaments. The ornaments can be any color, they do not have to be white.
Green blue purple😮
Que hermoso es agua de sola y que pintura soy de argentina .gracias // 23:21
Thank you!
Would love to do this with my daughter! Looks like fun. You said you use seaweed powder. Where do you get that? And how much do you use? Thanks 😊
I sell seaweed powder. I also sell a kit to get you started, complete with an instruction booklet. www.etsy.com/shop/AqueousSilkLLC
Thank you for watching! :)
Hello, Linda from VA. Do you always prep all materials such as (glass/plastic), prior water marbling? Thank YOU!
What finishing product do you use after craft is fully dried? Diane from VA. Thank you.
What is your suggestion of prior to start prepping, spray, fluid, etc.?
@@dianemiles8909 Thank you so much for watching! I do prep all items before marbling. I only seal the items that are on glass, plastic or acrylic. A lot of the information is contained in this book: aqueoussilkllc.etsy.com/listing/981954510
I am currently working on a book containing more advanced techniques.
Try dipping at an angle and rolling the ornament
First time what do you seal these with
Welcome and thank you for watching. I use a clear spray sealer.
How were you able to get the acrylic paint to adhere to plastic? Did you seal the baubles with anything prior to dipping them? TIA
I prep all my marbled items before marbling.
@@aqueoussilkllc9654 what do you prep them with? Do you also prep the glasses and how do you seal them?
@@pattiharper264 I have an instruction booklet that explains the entire process: www.etsy.com/listing/981954510/diy-water-marbling-instruction-booklet?click_key=4950c1bc9b633ae34ba29ed830924e745f949d5a%3A981954510&click_sum=93802359&ref=shop_home_active_1&crt=1
Do you add anything to your acrylic paints?
Sometimes a surfactant or water; it depends upon the paint and even the color of paint.
Why do you need seaweed powder if the water is filtered? What does it do to the water? Would filtered water alone work ok? What about filtered tap water?
The seaweed powder thickens the water slightly to support the paint. I do use filtered water, as I use well water at home, with lots of minerals (which can impact the performance of the paints).
What do you seal it with?
Thank you for watching. I spray them with a spray sealer.
Just saw your two year video it’s cool do you did to put anything on the ornaments ?
Thank you so much for watching. All items are prepped with alum before marbling.
What is the ratio water to seaweed pwd.?
Everything you need to start is in here. aqueoussilkllc.etsy.com/listing/981954510
Do you add anything to paint
It depends on the paint. Each color behaves differently, even within the same brand. Sometimes it needs to be thinned.
what is in the pan where you stick them all after they have marbled?
It is gaps and crack spray foam - I buy the cheapest brand I can find. I just filled a plastic container to hold my items. Very inexpensive.
What do you seal these with
Thank you for watching. I use a spray sealer.
I want to try this on Easter ornaments....you stated "seaweed power" is in the water? Can you please let me know how much seaweed powder to how much water??
thank you
It depends on where you are - humidity and temperature. As a starting point, I would use 2 tablespoons per gallon. You could use less or more, depending on your local conditions (and the day). I hope this is helpful.
Hi could you use this method to marble candles ?
I have tried, but haven't been able to get it to work. That doesn't mean it won't, just that I haven't determined how to do it. Once my broken leg heals, I plan to get back at the tank and try again!
I recently successfully marbled a battery operated candle!
How deep is the water?
It only needs to be deep enough to accommodate the piece you are marbling. For cloth and paper, an inch will do just fine. If it is a more dimensional, then it needs to be deeper. I often use the bin shown in the video because it fits well on my table. 😁
You use any bauble thats coloured
Yes, you can use any color. You just have to be mindful that the paints you are using will show on the color upon which you are marbling.
Can you do this with plain tap water..no seaweed.
Unfortunately, no. The paint will not float without the water being slightly thickened.
@@aqueoussilkllc9654 Is it possible to use a product like Thick-It to thicken the water? I know I'm late to the party here but I have a large container of the stuff I'd like to use :)
@@JeanandKenny thank you for watching! I don't know what "Thick-It" is, but why not give it a try! :) I will look into this and learn what it is and come back with my thoughts.
Do you use a medium in the water?
just a little seaweed powder.
Can u marble on plastic ornaments?
Yes! I have marbled many plastic ornaments!
Hello what kind of paints are you sing please
Acrylic paint.
Where do you get the seaweed powder?
I order it in large quantities and sell it in my Etsy shop. www.etsy.com/listing/1010193607/lambda-carrageenan-powder-for-water?click_key=cfa347268fd1e2eda68c1b1d0d668296b667dbae%3A1010193607&click_sum=4c88bf91&ref=shop_home_active_27
Can you tell me again what is in the solution
Water and seaweed powder. :)
What is in your water?
Thank you for watching! Seaweed powder is added to thicken the water slightly.
What time do u go live on mondays
I am live on Facebook at 7:15 p.m. Mountain Time.
Ok, 5 minutes 38 seconds into the video and the only action on the screen is "hi becky, hi molly, hi shmolly, hi smecky". People need to see what caught their attention. Noone has time to watch you greeting every viewer. At least i dont have time nor patient for this. I put your channel in "dont recommend" and go watch tens and hundreds os marbelling channels with no additional, unnecessary chot chats.
