Experiment with Paper and Crystals ... and a Pumpkin
This video was originally a Facebook Live - so there is a lot of interaction with my live audience at the time.
In this video I marbled crystal ornaments, a bisque ceramic pumpkin, wooden witch hats and paper. I had attempted to marble the paper before and it did not work. I prepped the paper in a new way and you’ll get to see the results. I had a great time during this Monday marbling session. Enjoy the video!
Water marbling is an ancient art form. I use acrylic paint floating on water to perform my art. Please let me know if you have any questions or want to try marbling for yourself. I do offer some of the supplies and even a “try it” kit, just see my website! Watch for an online class in the near future!
A Marbling Kit, a Digital Booklet and lots of marbled items are available at: www.etsy.com/shop/AqueousSilkLLC
Let me know if you are interested in a custom piece! We can determine the size, colors for marbling and your time deadline! You will be able to watch marbling being done and guide the design!
Want scarf, hat or other marbled item ... let me know!

Yesss. Having redone a one bedroom apt floor over two weekends. Well worth it since I lived there for a few years.
I can never get my water right
@@mex700g8 It is challenging.
Soooo cute 🥰
Thank you!
What is the measurements of your tank are where did you purchase the water tank I been trying to figure it out the size and the width your work is so beautiful
Thank you for your kind words. The tank measurements must be slightly larger than the piece you are marbling. This tank was made to marble my 14" x 72" scarves; it measures 18" x 74". My husband and I made the tank - plywood, 2x4s, a "something or other" for a drain, silicone and exterior house paint.
Hello, Linda from VA. Do you always prep all materials such as (glass/plastic), prior water marbling? Thank YOU!
What finishing product do you use after craft is fully dried? Diane from VA. Thank you.
What is your suggestion of prior to start prepping, spray, fluid, etc.?
@@dianemiles8909 Thank you so much for watching! I do prep all items before marbling. I only seal the items that are on glass, plastic or acrylic. A lot of the information is contained in this book: aqueoussilkllc.etsy.com/listing/981954510 I am currently working on a book containing more advanced techniques.
I must have missed something . For beginners do you have something for beginners? Like what kind of paint you use . How to mix everything to what to use. Thank you
I must have missed something . For beginners do you have something for beginners? Like what kind of paint do you use everything how to mix it. Thank you
What do you seal it with?
Thank you for watching. I spray them with a spray sealer.
Teal and pearl white
Look nice. Do you ever marble any wood items? Thanks.
Thank you for watching! I do marble on wood from time to time. I've done wooden earrings, wooden signs, and key chains. Oh ... you've given me an idea! Thank you! :)
I like what you are doing. Can you post a short tutorial one day?
What you making
Do you use regular acrylic paint or specific kind? Do you have to pre-treat the wood before dipping it? Thank you
@@SpunbyGreenJeans Thank you for watching. I use regular acrylic paint. I do pretreat wood, many do not.
Thank you!
You should save the paper, for scrapbook purposes. Waste not want not. Lol can use that paper for rolled tubes, or maybe just sheets of background paper for many fun paper projects. Just a thought . 😮😮
Thank you for watching. Great idea. That would be a lot of large sheets of paper drying in my garage. :)
@@user-ux6vq9eq4u thank you for sharing your information
what paint do you use for the marbling on glass?
Talking too much. Just explain the procedure. Don't need your life story.
Thank you for watching.
❤
Hi I'm new
Thank you for watching, Jackie! I'm happy you are here!
Good presentation
Thank you for watching and for the kind words.
Taupe is a grayish brown and it goes real nice with teal.
I'll have to mix a taupe! Thank you.
What do you use for a sealer after you color your ornaments and wine glasses ? 😊
Thank you for watching. I use a spray sealer. On the glasses, I'm careful to tape off the upper part so the sealer only goes on the painted area.
What is the tray you are using ?
The tray is a custom tray built by my husband and myself. It's wooden.
This looks like a cool process but I have no idea what you did once you pulled it out of the paint.
Thank you for watching. I rinsed it in a bucket of tap water and hung them on the rack. At the end of the video, I show all the pieces hanging to dry.
What is in water. Is it thickened with Carrageenan powder
Thank you for watching. The water is slightly thickened with seaweed powder.
Love your work , buuuut it seems you sure waste alot of paint which is expensive, are you thinning down your paint?
@@francescrosse4301 Thank you for watching. It depends on the paint. Some floats as-is, some needs to be thinned.
Acrylic paint mixed with water? On just plain water
Thank you for watching. The paint is sometimes mixed with water, it just depends on the paint.
Your acrylic paint looks thin, did you mix it with something, if so what do you use and what is the ratio.
Thank you for watching! If needed, I thin it with distilled water. I cannot give an actual ratio, because it depends on the type of paint used, the brand and the color. Each paint (and brand) is slightly different. As stated in my book, it should be 2% milk consistency.
What is the ratio water to seaweed pwd.?
Everything you need to start is in here. aqueoussilkllc.etsy.com/listing/981954510
What are you mixing your acrylic paint with?
If necessary, it is thinned with water.
What kind of paint are you using? Thanks
Thank you for watching. It is acrylic paint.
What kind of paint are you using
Thank you for watching. This is acrylic paint.
THIS IS AWESOMEEEE❤
Thank you!
Would love to do this with my daughter! Looks like fun. You said you use seaweed powder. Where do you get that? And how much do you use? Thanks 😊
I sell seaweed powder. I also sell a kit to get you started, complete with an instruction booklet. www.etsy.com/shop/AqueousSilkLLC
Thank you for watching! :)
What are you using for your big tub/bin to put your water and dyes in?
Thank you for watching. It's just a plastic storage tub.
What do you use to seal these?
Thank you for watching. I use a spray sealer.
@@aqueoussilkllc9654 Thanks so much for Your reply..
Very pretty😊
Thank you for the kind words and for watching.
From where we can buy colours
Can you use this technique on watercolor paper?
Thank you for watching. I have not had success, but others have. My favorite is mulberry paper or a heavy rice paper.
New subscriber. Happened on your video tonight, this looks like fun! Do you have a tutorial on how to prep your water and paints?
Thank you for watching. Sorry it has taken a while to respond. Yes I do! You can find the book here: aqueoussilkllc.etsy.com/listing/981954510
Maybe i missed something. How do you stage the wine glasses so they'll dry and the paint doesn't run?
If, by stage you mean prep, I use alum like I do on all marbled items.
@aqueoussilkllc9654 no I mean after the dip, how do you set them down to dry?
I set them on floral frogs.
@aqueoussilkllc9654 think I learned more about floral frogs than one person should know. Never heard of them before. And now I have so many ideas how to use them!!!
What do you use to thin out the paint?
Thank you for watching. :) Distilled water.
Do you use a certain type of paint?
Thanks for watching! I use acrylic paint.
I am so fascinated now!. Would've loved to hacmve seen the pendant before you marbled it. Do you seal any of them after you're done? Going down a rabbit hole watching your videos 😂😂😂
The pendant was just white glitter in epoxy before marbled. I do spray seal the front of the pendant.
What type of paint do you use?
Thank you for watching. I use acrylic paint.
Their gorgeous!
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words.
The paintings made with marbling are very interesting.
Thank you. I want to keep trying until they look like I know what I'm doing! LOL
Como preparas tus pinturas para que floten tan bien y tengan bonito color? Gracias
I thin them with distilled water.
MNG 💜 504 😘
Oil-based + 🔥 doesn't seem like a very safe idea. Please Be careful.
That's what I thought, but it burned perfectly. No smell, no flare-ups. I did have the candle is a larger candle holder ... just in case.
Love your work ❤ I have just finished watching a lot of your videos 🙏 I have a question what do you make sure acrylic paints with… To break them down to being so fluid… Do you mind answering this question? Thank you very much.
Thank you for watching. I thin my acrylic paints with water, adding just a tiny bit of water each time until the right consistency is achieved. The amount of water varies depending on the consistency of the paint and by color.
… thank you for your answer… So it’s just straight acrylic paint, thinned down and nothing in the water tank?? Just water.
@@eliz1957 The water has seaweed powder mixed in. What is the water set up chemical? And what kind of paints used?
Thank you for watching. These are Easy Marble paints. It's just normal tap water in the bucket.
