New CV Axle Assembly Set from 1AAuto.com trq.video/ia-1...
A CV axle has flexible joints. Often, these joints wear out, or seize from contaminants due to the protective boot tearing open. A worn joint is prone to breakage, or other hazards. If your vehicle needs a new CV axle, install a quality TRQ axle that is engineered to your vehicle’s specifications. This video shows you how to install one in your 2008-2012 Jeep Liberty.

I wish every repair video would like this! Detailed and straight to the point.
Hands down the best instructional videos on TH-cam.
Good lighting.
Good camera angles.
Knowledgeable instructor.
Give info as needed.
Give info when needed.
No wasted time or words.
Except "perfect".
I have an annoying coworker who says that in a sarcastic, irritating way so now the word annoys me.
Oh well.
The clearest, most professional, and best DIY video I've watched! Thank you man! Volume was perfect, and instructions were perfect. Amazing!
Great step by step, Bless you brother, Now on to me repeating the process.
36mm required to install new axle nuts!!! Not mentioned but you'll need it for the install. Let's hear it for TRQ
He makes it look easy, though we know he's done that a million times
Those fork bolts on mine are such a PITA, I am going to replace them along with the entire lower cta, as I have spent days trying to just get the bolt undone on one, both sides are that way... great video...
for a reference for everyone planning to do this on a dodge nitro: the cv axle is the right fit but it requires an intermediate axle shaft to be able to slot into the vehicle transmission
Did my driver's side wish I had half the tools ya fellas have but it was a ltl easier that what it looked like but I changed allot of stuff while doin the drivers side but y'all have never failed me if I was confused just found easier ways round it without a few tools but kudos on the business
Muy buen vídeo, gracias a ustedes por su pasión cía en explicar con mucha claridad. Gracias
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos!
upper ball joint 30ftlb + 90 degrees
tie rod end 30ftlb + 90 degrees
lower ball joint 40ftlb + 90 degrees
video was good apart from the torque on these components, don't want to leave nuts/bolts loose.
I live in Argentina and there are no mechanicals for the Jeep Liberty KK. I'm earning from youtube. Now i'm replacing de pistons rings.
It says to retorque the stabalizer bar link with full vehicle weight in the service manual. How important is that? And is it even possible to get at that with the tire on? Working on this on my 2010 Jeep Liberty now
You SHOULD replace the intermediate axle every time you replace the CV.. You also need to replace the axle shaft snap rings if you hope to drive off road at all
Exelent, very clear,I like how you explain, step by step. Thanks very much. You are goood
Where do you add the CTV fluid for the axels?
This was a very clean video, made it easy to follow what you were doing. I do have to say, that i would feel comfortable performing all torques after vehicle was on the ground, that way i know it is at specs with full pressure on the joints.
For ball joints the weight is carried on the taper so the torque doesn't affect the suspension weather raised or lowered. The ball joint itself is the pivot. The stud portion is married to the steering knuckle and doesn't move once tightened.
Like the caliper bolts they are all static applications. They don't pivot or swing.
But for dynamic joints that pivot like control arms at the frame, then yes. Torque those bolts with the suspension under load so the bushings are at their loaded height.
Is this the same for the dodge nitro?
Great video. If you're calling the cv axle the "axle", what is the name of the shaft it was connected to? The two didn't separate easily and I ended up pulling that shaft out, possibly from the differential, to get them separated. (Be careful not to smash the small o-ring on the end of that shaft). It did come all of the way out, but it spun freely. Do you know if there is a particular way it needs to go back into the differential? I just spun it until it slid back in and I'm hoping there's no alignment requirement.
Mine is doing the same thing. How did you separate the CV axle from the shaft?
Very good clear with a torque down specs 👍
Thanks. I did it yesterday using your gide. Perfect.
I have an 04, gonna use this as a guide, thanks
My axle is coming out with the CV axle. What does this mean?
So did mine
Yeah ive tried watching several none explain that part. His did to but it cut back to it once he got it loose.
@@mdk083003 did you figure yours out??! Currently doing mine now and can’t get it off!
Ours did too when we removed everything to drop the oil pan. Thinking about replacing the cv axle with a reman. from NAPA instead of messing with replacing the boots. It *looks* like it should come out relatively easily, just being held in place by ring clip. And of course rust, time, seizing to overcome.
This happened to me, my axel is coming out with CV axel. I cannot get them seperated, does anyone have a fix?
What if the axle pulls the shaft out with it 😢
Very good Job, congratulations
Super clean presentation!!
Very nice job! Made my life easy. Thank you!
Excellent job, doing this later with confidence
Can't say Thanks enough! Great video.
Very detailed and well spoken those impacts💪
i dont know what to do the inner axel is pulling out with the replacement axel.
How do you do the rear one
Very helpful
Did you use a left handed or right handed pry bar also o noticed that the horizontal Wayne shaft is 32° past the vertical flux capacitor. Other than that great video. I have to do this on my 2010 dodge nitro which is the same damn truck. Thanks for the video again dude.
Is one of the best videos.,thanks for share
Buen trabajo amigo
I dont know why I noticed, but at 13:11 I can see that you guys replaced some bushings, maybe a tie rod end, etc. right before you put the tire back on. I was like, wait... wasn't it rusty just literally one second ago?! haha
What are the symptoms of a bad axle? Or when to change it?
A bad CV joint will make a popping or clicking noise when turning. It needs replacing when you here that same noise when going in a straight line.
Is this the same on a 05 ?
Hello sir i have grand cherokee 2008 overland 5.7 i need axle right and left can you help me im living in qatar
Great information and very detailed 👌
If you remove the Tie-rod, do you gotta get an alignment done?
Do you need to drop oil before shaft pulled
+Mark Barnes No you do not need to drain any fluid before replacing the CV axle. If you lose any during the process just be sure to add some back when the job is complete!
You're talking some of them bolts down only 30 lbs 40 lbs the ball joints and whatnot your impact is already got them over 30 or 40 you need to explain to people to back them off and only torque them down to 30 or 40
Yo lo hice pero se me sale hacia afuera del encaste.
Great breakdown!
+Dawson Rossman Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Great Job! Thanks!
Thank you
This process the same for 05 jeep liberty rocky mountain edition
Great video. Very well done.
I would expect that the inboard end of the axle is lubricated by the differential oil - and the copper spray on the inside splines (female) is not needed
Great video!!!!!
