Rafaela, I must say this has been the most useful video I have watched. I was frustrated with my Portrait... I Google forums, even in Silhoutte's web page looked for answers and absolutely nothing worked I even changed the settings for the print paper. Thanks for taking your time to show us how you figured it out. Kudos!

This worked! Thank you. As a side note, instead of worrying about directional light (like a flashlight on a phone) or a tripod. I got my Trond daylight lamp (from amazon but any daylight lamp should work) and clipped it to the table- I put it on the lowest setting. Worked perfectly the first time with your hack 👍

Thanks! I tried like 10 times for it to register and it wouldn't, but adjusting the light and holding it up worked great!

Thank you! I have a portrait 1 and was having a lot of issues and i wasn't sure if it was because my machine was old. I bought it cheap off the internet to "make sure" i would really use it before spending big moo laa's on it. I have been using it. I wasn't sure if it was these old mats it came it or because of the machine being old. I did your little trick with the light and BAM...worked.
Question...apparently, my gaming laptop is too GOOD to work with this thing, because it has a hard time connecting because it will only connects through the the USB (doesn't have blue tooth). I end up unplugging it and plugging it into another USB and keep going back and forth until it will connect. I have to do your light trick EVERY time or it will not read. Just having little issues like this...but it does take more time to cut one sticker sheet. I have been looking all of the internet and these seem like issues everyone has at some point with all machines. Does anyone notice things being a lot easier on the new machines? Just wondering.

hii, i just got my machine today and ive tried everything but it's not working for me 😭 im using matte paper so there is no glare or anything, ive tried manually, i tried this trick with light, i used full thickness of my lines and i tried colouring my square too 😭 pls help

@@jessay1530 heyy i figured out my issue, maybe its the same? turns out my printer wasn't printing the guide lines properly, it kept cutting it off. And it was because on the software my paper setting was 'letter' instead of 'a4' so it kept printing the guides wrong and cutting off at the botton. check your settings if its printing all the line properly 🤍🤍

Nor me it’s hit and Miss I have tried putting the light.non and now it’s cutting anywhere bar where it should seriously thinking of going back to cricut tr ied sharpie and magic tape, tried flashlight and lifting and it’s so hit and miss I am in Uk and a4 and cutting on second line is this correct.what is the right way to put the mat in

thanks for the video but it didnt work for me, i dont know what to do, im so stressed right now because i have a project and the machine only reads whenever it wants, even with the same settings it register some and others dont, im really frustrated and i have watch so many differents videos and i still dont know why sometimes does it and others failed, i have lost so much material by now 😭😭

I have a little list of things I try if it doesn't register I do each one separately and usually one thing will work. 1) use the phone flashlight 2) close the the lid 3) copy and paste the design into a new file and send from there 4) eject the cutting mat, turn it off and turn it all back on again 5) manually align over the registration marks 6) draw over the registration marks with a sharpie or pen. It really sucks but hopefully one will be able to help.

@@Jj-np7cn hi! Yes did find a way, what does yours says? That its not reading? my problem was related to how i was putting the material on the mat because sometimes i put the right way and others didnt so thats why it wasnt reading, it has to be really precise, so since i had another extra mat i put some tape o it and use it as a guide to always put my material on the same place, if you dont have one you just have to make sure that you always follow the lines of the mat depending the size of the paper you are using, like letter or a4.. it has to be really precise. Also i put all the registration marks to 394 and put them as thick as possible and all that worked! If i can help you in other way let me know

@@susy4511 hey, I was gonna message you back. It worked when I downgraded on the software to 4.9 and to lift the mat up a bit for the registration lines to read. It worked wonders. I think the newest updates have a bug and prevents reading the lines
