  • Vibration on takeoff, jolts and kicks at low revs or at slow speeds, unstable revs. All these are symptoms of a faulty automatic transmission. Mostly narrow down to a fault torque converter as the single largest component of an automatic transmission.

I have this problem at 39,000 miles on this ZF transmission. I’ve cleaned the mass air flow sensor, air filter and throttle body. Seems it’s the torque converter. Thank you for the video, very well presented and explained.

Thank you. I believe that this is my problem on my 2003 range rover

When you say vibration under load, do you only mean only while shifting? I have a vibration under load between 30-40mph but not while it is shifting, just while accelerating moderately. Maybe propshaft bearing? It shifts between gears smoothly.

Vibration under load without shift, then if you give it some throttle then it will shift smoothly.

Good explanation from a good man , my Range Rover started shaking / shuddering going uphill yesterday but it’s not like you fault . I guess it’s prop shaft or bearing or something like that .

      Check prop shaft center bearing

@@aswanation I spoke to my mechanic yesterday and he seems to think transmission fluid is low . As if you floor it on the flat it’s silky smooth .

My 406 Peugeot is at 433000 km, original auto. The reason for such long life is fitting oil cooler and regular oil change. Pity the dealers repeat the silly thing "sealed for life".

They are never sealed for life. It’s always a very huge white lie. Your routine maintenance is key to the longevity. Good job.

The oil and filter must be changed every 30, 000km.
