    The ability to watch content on the small screen and save power is a game changer. I like to fall asleep to content at night and the small display is perfect.

    This is awesome! Moto has successfully tranformed a gimmick into what people actually want!

    • @SLOBeachboy

      What exactly is your definition of a “gimmick”? These new modern foldable phones fill a very real need and they were never a gimmick of any kind. In the early 2000’s phones kept getting smaller and smaller until they were ridiculously small because that is what people wanted. But not long after the iPhone came out they started getting bigger and bigger until they were ridiculously big and bulky to cart around. And if these types of new flip phones had come out right after the iPhone was introduced they would have been hugely popular. But today most people have become so accustomed to carrying around these huge phones that they cannot even see the need for a more compact phone even if it has the same size screen as the larger phones. As more and more people see the utility of these things however they will become more and more popular over time. As for me I was never happy at all carrying around a bulky modern smart phone and I was always counting the days until they developed the foldable screen. Anyway, I bought the Razr 5G a few years ago and I could not be happier with it, although I will likely get the new Razr Plus when it goes on sale here.

      @@SLOBeachboy I think he means the external display is actually usable instead of the "strip" (ie gimmick) Samsung external display. Maybe this will lead to phone options becoming smaller / more portable? With no flip optiobns?

    • @SLOBeachboy
      @SLOBeachboy ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@JoffreyJoseph - That’s certainly possible, but you seem to be forgetting that even more than 20 years ago, back when phones were just phones, pretty much ALL standard flip phones had a tiny external display which would give you information like the time, date and caller ID, etc. They were not a “gimmick” 20 yeas ago and they are certainly not a gimmick today. The very small external display on the first Z-Flip was basically just serving the same very useful purpose as those external displays on the early non smart flip phones, only with a bit more functionality. Then Motorola decided to change the game and make the external display so big that you could have almost full functionality on it. Still, I'm afraid this will never lead to phones getting smaller overall, as you say. In the early 2000’s people wanted phones that were smaller and smaller but since the original iPhone came out people have wanted bigger and bigger displays every year, which has driven phones to become so massive compared to the original iPhone that you can hardly wrap your hand around them. And this of course was the impetus for coming up with foldable displays which allow users to have those giant displays but still be able to fold the phone into a more practical size. People in general are never going to want smaller main displays however and thus smaller phones. Its just not going to happen.

    • @JoffreyJoseph
      @JoffreyJoseph ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SLOBeachboy I certainly agree with you in the short term for now. I do remember 20 years ago, but I can see the integration of wearables coming, leading to smaller device device footprints. Once someone solves the AR wearable equation, a lot of things are going to change in my opinion.

    I had a single Motorola phone in my entire life, maybe 6 years ago, which wasn't even a flagship phone, and I still miss its features like the shake gesture to turn on my flashlight. And this phone in particular is significantly more innovative than anything I've seen. The fact that the external display can access a fully functional Android OS makes the foldability actually useful. I'd absolutely love to use those back cameras for selfies on that nice full-sized back display, not to mention comfortably reading messages on it without having to open the phone.

    The thing that I dont really like is that when you use third-party apps like Whatsapp Messenger or Instagram to make video calling the quality of the video call is very poor looking. If anyone finds a solution to this please let me know.

    i really liked this phone in the beginning. now every time i enter my passcode i get a video ad from Google Play. Has this happened to anyone else and is there a fix. i contacted Google help and they tell me the vendors for the Ad are the only ones that can stop sending it. So on Google software, Google can't fix vendors from forcing ads as soon as i open the phone or after i sign into the external screen 🤕sorry TK Bay you came up first in my search so thought i'd ask here since Google is useless and maybe give a little insight about future Android users

    Which means Ready For will work with a standalone monitor through a USB-c cable, we dont need nextdock right? SO Ready for is not only working wirelessly but also wired connection will work with standalone monitors.
