GM and Chrysler, no doubt had fast and nice looking cars in the muscle car era, but nothing came close to the Mustangs and Shelbys of the time for styling. Meaner looking grilles, sculpted sides instead of being plain and taillights that the competition knew too well. The '69 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with the 7 litre 428 Cobra Jet was the coolest car on the street....especially when it's black on black. The Legend lives on.
But it's also a fact tuning off the Ford factory line was pretty conservative if you open that Pony up it will run down those others you speak of... #Bullitt
I had one when stationed in Newfoundland in 1969. It was the 428 ram air cobra jet in aqua green. No one even noticed it until I had it repainted bright yellow. Left the hood as is. 60 mph out of first, 80 out of 2nd, 110 out of third. The speedometer only went to 120 but I figured it must be doing about 140 in 4th.. I'm not sure what I miss most... that car, or being 24 years old. There was absolutely nothing on those highways. You could easily do 100 mph for about an hour.

The 69 Camaro is right up there. Just as good-looking as the 69 Mustang and even better looking than the Mopars in my opinion.
