They (carmax) are perfect for people who don’t like the bullshit a used car dealer puts you through and they cut a check after a 20 minute inspection … it’s an obvious chunk of the market and they supply the service successfully. Carvana and the likes are pretty shady from the experiences I’ve heard .

You can sell as a dealer to Carvana. I sold my Lexus RC F Sport to Carvana in May 2021 and it was registered to my dealership, made about $6k more than what I paid for it at Manheim in May 2020 and also put 10k miles on it
I know a few private sellers who sold to Carvana. I asked for an offer on my truck and it was great. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a replacement to make the deal work.
Bought a Mazda mx5 in 2020 for 18k and sold it carvana for 22.5k after putting around 8k miles on it. Carvana is really paying out well. I ended up telling everyone and I got 2 of my family members to get into a new vehicle after selling their old ones for a profit.
I'm a small dealer. In California, CarMax will buy from a dealer. But it's only a few locations, not every CarMax. I did the 2 hour turn on a Chevy Spark. Made $3100. All I did was drive the car from where I purchased it to the Car Max and I reassigned the title is there office. This was in Sept 2020.

Most likely bags of rocks purchased from Home Depot and put in the trunk to help with traction in the rear when it was time to race it and to prevent tires from spinning at 70 mph. 😂
That makes sense. The vehicle needed more weight in the rear especially without the spare tire. I used concrete blocks. I wish I would have thought to use bags of gravel.
Craig company spends near mil a year wit carmax very good auction if u don't mind paying over retail! Although their prices are sky high one thing I can guarantee is that every car title is straight from owner to carmax to me... I can not stand a car passed around dealer to dealer! Which is why I never buy from Inc or llc only franchise dealer. My point in all this is carmax will never jeopardize thier auction rep by selling a car that is not a direct owner trade in.

The one thing I like about Carmax is the 24 Hour Test Dr. you’re able to take it home and take it to your mechanic and have them look at it and when you buy the car at Carmax you get hard plates that day

Yes, Caravan also has a program, but the transaction was difficult for my Partner. He sold a Honda Accord to Caravana. Took him maybe 10-12 calls and 2 months to get the check.
I and few others I know had the complete opposite experience. The appraisal took 30 seconds. Accepted offer. Uploaded all the documents online. Vehicle was picked up the next day and check was in hand for others and I selected direct deposit. Money was in my account before the truck left with my car.

In the Caravana experience, they treated him nicely, professional and courteous. I overheard alot of his conversations on Speakerphone. The "difficulty" was him having to make 10-12 calls and not getting paid for 2 months. It's typical in the dealer business to be ACH'd within 24-48 hours regardless of buying or selling. Neither of us would ever sell a car to Caravana without the check in hand.

The stones are due to driving down a gravel road. The mustangs have a gap in the wheel well, that rocks get kicked up into. So its common to see a bunch of rocks in the spare tire space. (Ps if anyone reading this has a mustang, and drives down a dirt road, take a look in your trunk, under the mat to see if you have collected some rocks)
Try carvana next time. My girlfriend got a quote for her 2015 Scion TC with 45k miles for 12,500 which I thought was about 4500 more than it should be.
I work at carmax we have certain rules before we even sell it again for our own profit a car has to be under 125k miles and no damage extreme damage to it any frame damage wont sell so we cant make a profit if the car is too far gone we will title it as a wholesale(cash only car) or just junk it but it's rare that we junk cars most the time we send them to auction to make some money back so if u wonder if your 130k mile mustang will resale on a carmax most likely it didn't it got kicked and sent to wholesale Edit we do buy from other dealer but the car has to be from a dealer we have a contract and been delivered to us by the truck loader we wont buy if the car is not under ur name
I used to own one of these cars. It is NOT a commuter car. Especially in the rain, that car is almost dangerous. It's got a heavy clutch, it's nose heavy, and it doesn't have enough rubber on it given the horsepower. Yes, it's a great toy, but not a commuter car. Give your Dad the Bentley.

I’m no expert but I would say 0-25 is mint, 25-50 is great, and 50-100 is good. Heavily depends on the kind of car but an SL500 should almost definitely be a collected car.

Actually had something like this work. Bought a clean title S65 from Copart for 15.2k, was in it for 17k all said and done. Needed way too much electrical nonsense. Instead of dumping money, I instead tried my luck at carmax, and they offered me 20k. That car never came home.

Or the owner was simply hauling bags of rocks from Home Depot. But you guys got a great price otherwise! The car rips pavement from 70, and the interior looked really clean. Thanks.
