My grandfather was 101 when he died and he died happily. He was the kindest, most generous man I have known. He is my guiding star through the rest of my life.

I attended my father's funeral today, came home and watched this video. Your grandpa sounds wonderful. My Father was also a man of great faith. Despite many physical challenges, he served freely in many different positions in our church and went on two different service missions (each lasting 2 years). One as a young man and one with my Mom after they retired. The best gift he ever gave me was teaching me to follow Jesus and what that really means. His death was expected so he wrote his own funeral program as well. My 5 siblings and I dedicated this scripture to his beautiful life.
2 Timothy Chapter 4 vs 7: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
May we rejoice this Easter in Jesus Christ as he overcame death for us all.

As a hospice nurse I learned to slow down, ask more questions, direct eye contact and never forget the 'human' in the 'problem'. God is so good and so gracious to us, we should be to others as well

Thank you Joshua for sharing the nurse's top 5 findings. Much appreciated. Stay blessed.
    1. I wish I had the courage to live a life true to myself, not what others expected of me.
    2. I wish I hadn't worked so much.
    3. I wish I had the courage to express my feelings.
    4. I wish I stayed in touch with my friends.
    5. I wish I let mysel;f to be happier.

Having worked in palliative care 'what matters to you?' is the question we asked. Asking those questions of myself is what has led to me making important life decisions and even day to day things (do I buy this or do I spend the money on something I would enjoy doing with someone I care about). This has led to contentment in life. Thank you for your great work. Looking forward to your book x

I'm inspired by my dog who lived only 14 years on this Earth, but enjoyed almost every minute of it. He loved to run, and his ears would flap up and down like little angel wings. He lived and loved (even cats!) fully.

‘Funerals Inspire Me’ wow I thought I was the only one who thought of funerals that way - I’ve lost several loved ones and have done several eulogies - and I am inspired - my mom was hospitalized when my brother died unexpectedly - so by necessity I hired a videographer - which many people thought I was nuts - while my mother never watched it as I lost her soon after - when I watched it years later it was a profound experience - my only regret ?? That all of the funerals I’ve attended before or since I did not record ….. it may sound a strange thing to do …. But it does turn out to be inspirational and cathartic !! Just found your videos and I’m struck by how all of them are either things or do or relate to or are on my exact right now list of things I’m in process of changing or bettering in my life - thank you !!!! Ps my grandparents we generous like that as well and have always been grateful for learning generosity from them …..

Thank you for this Joshua. I recently had a very bad midlife crisis in where my mental health was affected greatly. Thankfully, I came across a ton of meaningful youtube videos on letting go of this control I have over my life, and its helped me tremendously to realize that happiness is not a destination, but its in your present. We focus so much on our future that we dont realize how truly blessed we are in the present moment. I have SO many things in my life right now that I prayed for years before getting them, but then Im not satisfied and continue to seek out more. I have started to focus on contentment in the present moment, and its helped me so much

'My grandparents will give to strangers they will never see again.' My favorite phrase in this video. I am giving to people stuff simply because they need it yet I never gave a thought in giving to strangers whom I will never see again, other things being equal. What's the use of praying if you never shared anything meaningful in your life with others?

Thank you. This was a very inspirational video. I really appreciate your view of work in particular. In my family, people do not generally retire. My father worked past a cancer diagnosis and only stopped working when his health had diminished significantly. He was 77 years old and provided health care to the elderly as long as he was able. People always ask me about retirement; I am 54 and plan to work at the job that I have until I am not longer doing well at it. I appreciate hearing your attitudes to work as they reaffirm mine. Have a lovely weekend!

I think I am too stupid to know how to live my life to the fullest. What does that mean? I’m no schlock. I take care of my vegetable gardens and my flower gardens. I, along with my husband, watch our grandsons three days a week. I worked all of my life in a decent job position and I did my job well. I took good care of my family. I keep in contact with my two siblings and with their children, all who live in a different state. I am part of my children’s lives. They live nearby but are independent. So to live my life to the fullest…I don’t know how to do that. My home, though not cluttered or filthy, could always be cleaner. I could cook more, but my husband took that over when he retired, saying that I had cooked for 40 years and now it is his turn. How can I argue with that? 😀. Are there some things I never did that I would have wanted to do? I suppose. I would love to have been smarter and more successful. I would have loved to have learned to play the piano. I would have loved to have been more athletic. I have nothing for which I stand out. I’m just a person who existed for 67 years and did what I was supposed to do. I used to want to travel more, but with the state of the world now, I have little desire to travel outside of the USA…and recently, even some places in the USA I would stay away from. So the excitement of travel is just about gone from my desires. Maybe I have lived my life to the fullest and there is nothing left for me. I more or less think I should stick around because my husband is still alive and my grandsons seem to enjoy my company. Otherwise, my life could be over and I would be ok with that. Maybe someday I will learn to live my life to the fullest.
