Non-Return Valve Spring & Seal - Air leaking from Air Compressor Pressure Switch

  • A common issue people have with their Air Compressor is air leaking from under the pressure switch. When most consumers think the pressure switch is at fault, its most likely the NRV that’s created the issue. This is a fair easier fix and doesn't hurt the wallet compared to replacing your pressure switch. The sole purpose of the Non-return valve (NRV) is to hold the tank pressure without releasing back pressure to the pump. If the seal isn't closed/sealed correctly this will create an air leak from the back of the pressure switch. The seal is a small part that has a huge role in the operation of an electrical air compressor. If this isn't maintained or serviced this can lead to other faults happening with your air compressor. Dirt particles or wearing of the seal will cause this to happen and we recommend that this is to be a part of your monthly or quarterly inspection. With the seal not closing correctly, this will create overloading of the electrical motor or capacitor burn outs along with pressurising of the pump sump. This also creates extra load when the air compressor goes to cycle under pressure. This is a serviceable part. When you remove the inspection nut on the check valve you show a seal and a spring. You don't talk about the gasket on the inspection nut. My check valve is leaking at the inspection nut and before I open it up I wanted to see if you would be able to tell me what type of gasket is on the nut so I can order and replace it. Thanks!

Hi there Billy, The ring gasket around the threaded nut doesn't normally wear. You can use a dab of gasket glue on older models, our new model non-return valves no longer have that type of gasket.

Hi there Eagle king. If you have time please email us a picture of your air compressor to sales@peerlessproducts.com.au. Every oiled air compressor will have oil carry over regardless of brand. Excessive oil carryover can be a number of things, oil type used, excessive running atomising oil and so on. If you can send us more information to the above email we'll be happy to assist.

my air compressor slows down whole running what could be the problem can u plz tell

Hi there Faisal, If your air compressor losses it momentum, this could be related to the air compressor pressure, this could be set too high of pressure or, the power supply to the air compressor might be poor voltage supply. Try checking these two things, power is a major factor when running an air compressor, so make sure it is plugged directly into the power on the wall. I hope this helps.
