    if you found a piece of metal in your check valve ...question is ...where did it come from? shouldn't you investigate the pump?

    • @hcr-motorworks
      @hcr-motorworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It was a sliver from the compression fitting on the tube that fed the valve.

    Can the check valve cause the compressor to not reach full preasure ?

    • @hcr-motorworks
      @hcr-motorworks  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It can, but it could also be a leak at the unloader valve, the pipe feeding the valves or tank or a weak and worn out pump. Just depends

    hi thanks. why you dont add teflon to the compression fitting side? and why do you call it compression fitting side where the other side is not? how can i decide which fittings should or should not have teflon. thanks

    • @hcr-motorworks
      @hcr-motorworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The compression fitting side has a ferrule or a flared fitting just depending on what setup you have on your compressor. These style of fittings NEVER get Teflon or any type of sealant as the ferrule or flare does the sealing. The other side is Usually NPT or pipe thread and does require some type of teflon or thread sealer to create an air tight seal. Thanks for watching!

    What if there is no case over the plastic puck? Is it normal for some valves or did it just fall off? Does that ruin the valve?

      @@velvetypotato711 The replacement should be similar to the one pictured in this video. unless they've updated the design or something it should be there. but as long as it seals when the air compressor shuts off and doesn't leak out all the air it should function in the same fashion.

    Does this pump/motor go clockwise or counter clockwise?

    • @hcr-motorworks
      @hcr-motorworks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on which way you look it or have it oriented...the pump pulley has "fins" for cooling the pump motor and they should always blow towards the pump. Most of the motors themselves are reversible.

      @theweekendwarrior6355 ปีที่แล้ว

      @HCR - Motor Works yes, I have the same compressor and had to buy a new motor it can be wired both CW and CCW, so I was wondering which way yours went.

    What did you retorque it to?

    • @hcr-motorworks
      @hcr-motorworks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, With NPT threads and brass fittings I usually set my torque wrench to about 25ft-lbs just to assure that I wont crack the fitting from over tightening. With 2-3 wraps of Teflon it "SHOULD" tighten and be leak free with 25ft-lbs or less...So in this case, the torque wrench isn't necessary for setting the torque to spec per say, but more so, making sure we don't damage our brand new valve from over tightening. I tighten until tight, and then keep tightening until the valve is in the final alignment with where it should be so the contractor pipe connects with ease. They should be close as far as reaching 25ft lbs, when the valve tightens, and how much further you have to go to get the pipe to align. If they aren't close then remove the valve and add or subtract Teflon tape. For instance, if you did two turns of tape, got everything aligned and it leaked it obviously needs more tape. If you did 4 turns and it hit 25ft-lbs with 3/4 of a turn to go until the contactor pipe will align its got too much tape and is binding before it should. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

      As long at the threads are 1/2" NPT on the valve and your tank it should work no problem. The dimensions on length of the value are typically not an issue.
