It seems as if Honda built the 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R for one purpose - to be the fastest front-wheel-drive car around the Nürburgring. While they already achieved that, we’ve been hard at work to make it faster. The stock intercooler system was one of the hang ups. The small core and restrictive piping made for almost instantaneous heat soak and would rob the K20C1 of power. Do you need to tune the car for the intake and this intercooler ? I know it sounds like a question not to be asked but I really would like to know. Thank you
It would be beneficial, but I don't think it's required. If you did cams, or anything inside the motor, you would for sure need to have it tuned. I mean, if you're dropping $1000 on an intercooler kit, then you can drop the $690 on Hondata
10hp out of the intercooler itself? I mean, I knew they improved performance but not to these levels...Damn
What about the turbo having to fill all that extra space? Are you getting lag? The truth please, ty
legofranco if you look at the dyno chart, the readings are not much different than stock. If there were lag, you would see it at around 3k-3.5k rpms before peak boost.
There is zero noticeable lag with the addition of the
intercooler and piping. Especially when driven on the street. When
coupled with our intake system you really feel the benefits of the intercooler
pulling hard on the top end. When driving the vehicle lag would be the
last thing you would think 😊
my buddy installed the new PRL intercooler on his type r, I notice a bit of lag on the bottom but of coarse made up for it at midge range punch. check it out @tunetlife ig

We will be releasing some in-depth data in regards to our
approach in keeping the Type-R cool. We have quite a bit of info on this
topic that is requires a completely separate analytical production. Stay

When is the Si one coming!?
Does it gives turbo lag to the car at low range? I have the mishimoto intake installed sounds nice and mid range power feels awesome but at low levels you can feel the lag.
This core helps reduce lag a bit by reducing the restrictions throughout the system.
What is the weight of the stock Intercooler? What is the weight of your Intercooler?
The OEM cooler being a tube-and-fin style weighs about 7lbs. Ours comes in at 29lbs due to the heavy duty bar-and-plate style construction.

I have recently purchased your intercooler here in the UK, ready to install at the weekend, I have a few queries firstly the item looks like it has been out of the packaging with marks on the top of the intercooler, there is no bumper removal tool, and I have now been told this item will not fit my UK FK8, please confirm if the item will fit, as if not it will have to returned

Our production team were not able to identify any differences on the UK delivered cars when it came to fitment for the FK8. The install should go pretty smoothly, if you run into issues, of course feel free to contact us at support@mishimoto.com for help.

Earth Dreams UK how you go?
Unfortunately, I had to return this intercooler, as it wasn’t a direct fit for my UK FK8, crash impact bar and pop up hood system sensors are in the way of the install , and also the hard piping has an outlet on it, the UK car doesn’t have this.
Mishimoto were understanding and gave me a refund, but unsure if these problems have been addressed for future buyers.
Earth Dreams UK same here in Australia but I moved the pop up hood system sensors above it and plugged the hole in the inlet pipe

Accord 2.0T fitment?
Hey Ezra Kiihn, we have not conducted any cross-referencing with the Accord yet, but we're planning to get one at our facility soon for some testing :). If it turns out the part fits both, we'll update the vehicles listed for fitment over on our product page.
