Wayne Brady was an absolute genius on the musical skits. I think Colin and Ryan are generally funnier than him on the regular ones but no one else was in Wayne's league on the music comedy.
Drew Carey is a Marine Corps veteran. He had a perfect PFT (Physical Fitness Test) when he was in, too. The glasses he wears are his iconic "birth control" glasses he had to wear in Boot Camp (or at least the same style. I highly doubt they're the exact same pair after all these years, lol).

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but Colin wore those loud shirts because he performed so often in front of a green screen in the Newsflash segments.
Drew was the original host in the late 90s and early 2000s. It was cancelled, but it is on again right now with Aisha Tyler. Drew hosts The Price Is Right now.
I was born in 83, yeah I remember floppy disks... 😆 To answer the big question, Drew Carey was a stand up comic who also had his own Sitcom in the 90s. Mr Quirky Tie was also on it with him. Drew was the original host until he retired and Aisha took the last few seasons. To my knowledge everyone on there is a comedian in their own right with improv training - hence the chaos and sometimes they even surprise themselves 😆 Love it
Drew Carey was the original host of the American version of the show. I was taking a class at The Second City in Cleveland when this show started. They no longer have a location in Cleveland, but the class was FANTASTIC! I wished I could have continued, but my life could not allow it at that time.
You are so observant about the inflection thing. Used to watch this all the time. They were so good at feeding off each other. The singing part was hilarious

When Greg Proops said "Nice Aft" it was a play on words for "Nice A**". This is because the word "Aft" is a term meaning "towards the Stern/rear of a boat, plane, and spaceship".

Originally the show started in England hosted by Clive Anderson. That is where Ryan, Colin and Greg Proops got their start on the show. It was then broadcast in the US with Drew Carey as the host and that is when Wayne joined. When Wayne joined it gave the show a whole new dynamic with how GOOD he was at making up lyrics on the spot and having such a great voice. The original show ran from 1998-2007. It was then revived with Aisha Tyler as the host and that ran from 2013-2023. Aisha Tyler had been in a few things over the years, I remember her as one of Ross' girlfriends on Friends.
I was in the studio audience for one of those clips. It was such a blast, left there with my ribs and face hurting from laughing so much. It was about 4 hours of taping and I think it was made into 3 episodes.
I miss watching this show at my great grandparents on tuesday nights as a kid. Its funny seeing it now, not realizing almost everything went over my head and i still loved it.
Great reaction and thanks for sharing. Whose Line is it Anyway is still playing to this day. The show was originally a British show with the host Clive Anderson. It came to America with Clive still hosting. When it ran out of steam. Drew Carey took over the show and started hosting it. After Drew bought the daytime game show empire of Merv Griffin and started hosting the Price is Right, he hired actress, comic, voice actress, director (Lana in the cartoon Archer) Aisha Tyler to host Whose Line. The current show plays on the CW network. Ryan Styles and Colin Mochrie with Greg Proops have been on the show since it was in England. Currently you can see most of the seasons on Roku TV, even back to the English shows.
Ryan, the tall one usually had unique shoes and was occasionally the subject of the jokes. Colin usually for his baldness. Colin and Ryan are really good friends. Funny outtakes are when Ryan detests hoedowns or just bloopers in general. I loooove this show
The tall gentleman whose tie you commented on is Ryan Stiles. Among other things, he was on the Drew Carey show. He was also a regular cast member on the original British Who's Line, along with the older gentleman, Colin Mochrie. They're both pretty good at long-form improv with other actors, but together they are hysterical and almost always come up with something side-splitting. There are long-time running jokes between them (and other cast members). Just don't ever make a bald joke about Colin unless you want swift and brutal retaliation. The man is a BEAST.

Loved this show! Always overboard laughter! Drew Carey was the second Host after the show came from the UK to the US. Aisha Tyler became the third host when they bought it back in the Mid 20-teens! Ryan and Colin were in all 3 series, the OG’s of Whose Line! You’re gonna find your favorites when you watch this series!
There have been 3 'series' of Whose Line is it Anyway, each one lasting roughly a decade... it started in the UK in 1988 and ran till 1999. They also started a US version in 1998 (This is the one with Drew Carey hosting) which ran until 2007, and then in 2013 it got a revival with a new female host (Aisha Taylor) that's still going today. The two guys you were talking about are Collin Mockery and Ryan Stiles. They were the most frequent 2 guests in the UK series, and have been permanent parts of the show in both American series. (Counting all 30+ seasons it's been on the air, Ryan's been on 507 episodes, and Collin on 483... Wayne Brady takes Third place at 407 episodes (5 on the UK version, the rest in US). He was there for *most* of the 2 American series with the exceptions of parts of Seasons 1 & 8, and there were about a dozen regulars who would rotate in and out frequently for the 4th spot (or to fill in for a regular who missed an episode), plus once in a while they'd have a special guest star, like Richard Simmons, Robin Williams, David Hasselhoff, Jerry Springer, Whoopi Goldberg, etc.
This is one of my all-time favorite shows. Every episode is hilarious, and both Drew Carey and Aisha Tyler are great as hosts. Either iteration is awesome. Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles are always brilliant together and of course Wayne Brady adds great talents all his own. There is also a lot of good behind the scenes stuff between takes or stuff they censored out that are well worth the watch.
The original show was on the BBC in the UK and aired on Comedy Central. Ryan and Colin were on that original show! Drew revived it. Aisha took over after Drew went to The Price Is Right.
The 2 guys that keeping coming from the right side of the screen are Ryan and Colin. They were the only 2 that were always on the show from start to finish. They were regularly paired in the various skits because they had so much chemistry together. There are loads of best of Ryan and Colin vids on youtube to watch. The tv show is done but all the people from the show regularly get together to do a live tour from time to time. I think I saw ads for a live "whose line" at a few different locations in Louisiana recently.
The show did come out in the early nineties. Everyone in my drama class were big fans of it so whenever we had free time we would do our own version of it.
This was hands down the best version of this series. I fell absolutely in love with it. I'm so sad it's no longer on air :( Btw Britt, these guys do what they do so well cuz they're improv actors
A few years back they did a touring group called Drew Carey's Improv All Stars {you can find them on youtube}. And literally they would get an idea from the audience and on the fly come up with jokes. Kathy Kinney was with it in Vegas, the prompt from the audience was Automobile brands. She said "you can fit 4 people in my (volvo but instead ended the word with an "a")" The entire crew was done. One of the skits they made one of the guys take his shoes off, and blindfolded him. Then put mouse traps all around the stage and then had to act out a ballroom dance scene. {FWAP!}
Whose Live Anyway is a touring live performance with many of these same actors. I've seen it. It was hilarious and they freaky are that quick with the jokes.
The Drew Carey Show was a sitcom that ran for 9 seasons from 1995 to 2004. Ryan Stiles (tall guy, big nose) and Ryan Stiles (bald guy) were part of the main cast of the show alongside Drew, and they were also regulars on Whose Line, which first aired in the US between 1998 and 207. The show originally started in Britain under the same name. They would often have Wayne Brady on as well, but there was often a guest player as well. Aisha Taylor becamse the host when The CW picked up the show in 2013. TL;DR - Drew is the original American host from '95-'04; Aisha became the host when the show was revived in '13.
This started as a British show hosted by Clive Anderson and then came to the States and was hosted by Drew Carrey. The show was cancelled in 2007. In 2015 it was revived and was hosted by Aisha Tyler. On almost every episode (maybe every one) the had Ryan Styles (the tall guy who had the wing-tipped shoes). Collin Mochrie (the bald guy that was on the same side as Ryan Styles) and Wayne Brady were also on most shows and they had various other people on also. You commented that actors can make the same line mean different things depending on how they say it. They had a game on the show that illustrated just that. It was called "Two Line Vocabulary." It was a scene with 3 people. Two of the people could only say two lines, but they could say them however they liked. The third guy could say anything. They had to act out a scene like that.
Drew Carrey had a sit-com before Whose Line, with Colin Mochrie and Ryan (forget his last name) as co-stars. Drew went on to succeed Bob Barker as host on "The Price Is Right," which airs weekday mornings on CBS.
This show was amazing. Ryan and Colin were far and away the best and you've gotta check out some of their youtube compilations. They'll have you in tears.
It was originally a British TV show (1988-1997) and started with all British actors, comics, writers, etc… and then started adding Americans like Greg Proops (glasses and isn’t Drew), Ryan Stiles (Tall, lanky guy with wingtips), Colin Mochery (Bald Canadian guy, wears bright shirts), Chip Esten (not in these clips). I think the producer of the UK show brought the concept over to the USA and continued working on it there.
It has been brought back. Several times. First, it was a radio show in BBC Radio in the UK. Then, it was a TV show hosted by Clive Anderson that originally aired on Channel 4 in the UK from 1988 to 1999. It aired on Comedy Central in the US. After Channel 4 canceled, it, it was revived for an American version hosted by Drew Carey. The same creative and production team from the UK and many of the same regular panelists came over to the states for the American version which aired on ABC from 1998 to 2004 and ABC Family from 2005 to 2007. The American version resumed on The CW in 2013. This is considered a direct continuation of the ABC/ABC Family version, not a reboot. It's hosted by Aisha Tyler, and continues to air, to this day. There's also an Australian version.
I agree about continuing/expanding the show. The concept and regular cast were exceptional, and the guest spot(s) gave a lot of comedians some great exposure. Helping a community that's tough to get noticed in and providing excellent entertainment as well sounds win/win to me. The internet says Wayne, Colin, and Ryan probably won't be back after season 20.
Drew was the first Host for the US. The woman that hosts now, is actually an actress. And one of the most well known roles she had, was on the show "Bones." She was the director of the Smithsonian.
Drew Carey is a comedian from my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. He toured for many years, got this show, and for 10+ years he's been the host of the Price Is Right.
My commodore computer had to use cassette tape to save and load programs. The 5-1/4 inch disks were out through the late 70s to mid 80s. Ryan Stiles plays a great character, " Herb," on the two and a half men series. He is so funny in that role as you would expect.
This show started out as a British show in 1988. Drew Carey was the original host in the US. Came out in 1998 and ran to 2007. Aisha Tyler was the host from 2013. it's still on the CW (this will be the last season). Reruns are on Pluto, CW Seed, fuboTV, Direct TV, Max Amazon, and Spectrum on Demand.
This show is hilarious, great improv, Aisha Tyler is the host now after Drew and they make a new episode every week. The game their playing is called "Scenes From A Hat" it's Drew's favorite game out of all the ones they've played, before the show they asked the audience to write down suggestions for them to perform, then some of the crew picked out the best ones (not the performers) and put them in the hat, their least favorite game is "Hoedown." I saw Colin Mochrie live once, it was good. There are plenty of compilations to watch, this show came over from the UK. They have played at least 80 different games and have new ones added every so often. Under Aisha as host, they're in their 13th season right now but Colin has been on at least 40 seasons, he might've said 44 seasons and Wayne Brady for 23 seasons. "Greatest Hits" is another compilation you should check out. Wayne Brady has a nice singing voice.
The female host is Aisha Tyler she tock over from Drew Carey. Aisha Tyler is an actress and she was in the tv shows Criminal Minds and Ghost Whisperer with Jennifer Love Hewitt.
The best game in who's line is it anyway is sound effects. The show was in the early 90's. Then revived in '98. Ran for 8 seasons. Then revived again in 2013 with Aisha Tyler. Of course with drew Carey in Las Vegas it's not called who's line. It's the same type of show.
I LOVED this show, especially the bloopers. Loved the Robin Williams episodes. There is a show called "thank God you're here" that I think you will like aswell
I saw them playing in my town a few weeks ago. The cast consisted of Ryan Styles, Greg Proops, Jeff Davis and Joel Murray. They were hilarious and surprisingly knowledgeable of our surrounding counties
Up here in Edmonton we have the largest Fringe Theater Festival in the world outside Edinburgh. Beside that, and involving many of the amazing actors available, we have had a weekly improv show running for over 20 years...the SAME show, every week. It is a parody of a soap opera and has been continuing and updating every week for decades. It is also brilliant Improv and hilariously funny.
One of my favorite segments was song stylings. 🎵 The host would select a musical style (like country, heavy metal, punk) and ask the audience for a song topic. They had a tiny band that would improvise the music and, of course, one of rhe regulars or guests improvised the lyrics. Wayne Brady was always impressive!!! On one of these song styling segments the style was something like "thrash metal" and the topic was "airline flight". My sister and I were on the floor, laughing. We still periodically replicate the demonic flight attendendent voice screeching "Do you want the meat or the fish? Hear my voice. Make a choice." What a great show!!!

Wayne Brady was an absolute genius on the musical skits. I think Colin and Ryan are generally funnier than him on the regular ones but no one else was in Wayne's league on the music comedy.
@@chriswhinery925 Especially when he and Chip would team up...magic happens.
TAPIOCA! best segment on TV
Arctic tern. Genius how Colin came up with that.

These were one of my favorites, along with Sound Effects with Ryan and Collin.
Britt… ANYTIME you check out something from Whose Line… You’ve struck GOLD 👍😆
Especially if it's the original version and not this knock-off one.
@@sandgrownun66 … I remember watching the UK version with Clive Anderson that often featured Colin & Ryan & loved it 🫵😁👍
@@gerardroll6468 Naturally. Why wouldn't you have loved it.
@@sandgrownun66 … I remember thinking at the time when I first began watching it just how hysterical the show was & hoping it wasn’t a “one-off”, short-lived show. Even though I’ve seen practically every episode, they never fail to crack me up, especially the episodes featuring Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams & the man who absolutely didn’t just steal the show he appeared in… He had the damn thing gift wrapped & took it home with him… Richard Simmons 🫵😂
@@gerardroll6468 Whoopi. Was that when she was just a comedic actress? Or some might say that she's a joke herself.
All the American versions of the show are on HBO Max and it's actually still on the air. For the last 10 or so years Aisha Tyler has been the host. It's one of my favorite shows.
Actually last show was about a year ago. IT seems they did not pay the actors for the season that ended in Jan 2023
@@ingiford175 I have my DVR set to record new episodes when they air and new episodes recorded as early as last week. So, maybe these will be the last episodes and they may have been recorded a year ago, but they are still airing new episodes on TV as of last week.
Greatest hits, party quirks, two lines are some of the best skits. The crew often dissed each other sometimes as a running gag.The 2 guys you were talking about had the funniest and best interactions:Ryan, the tall guy and Colin the bald guy.check out:"You started it!"and Meow!😂
Party Quirks where Colin is trying to figure out who is a man and who is a woman is the funniest thing ever. He's grabbing the guys between the legs and even the woman's breast at the end.
It started as a British tv show. When it first aired in the US, it was the 90’s and was on ABC with Drew Carey as the host.
It has been revived. Season 13 is currently airing on the CW network on Tuesday nights and Aisha Tyler is now the host.
Well, at least you mentioned that it was originally a British programme, which it took the Americans a full decade to reproduce.
Your deadpan looks into the camera after certain jokes. Gold! And it means that you get it! So much fun watching you watch this. You get it. :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
I also vote you react to the Richard Simmons "Living Scenery" scene. One of the greatest moments in television history. Drew Carey was crying laughing and the audience was going absolutely wild!
Nothing compared to the British OG version.
Drew Carey was the first host of the U.S. version of Whose Line (the show is originally from the UK). Aisha Tyler was made host in 2013 when the show was revived. The show is still on the air today.
I got to see Colin Mochrie (the one with the crazy shirts) and Brad Sherwood, who wasnt on all the time....he was one of the 4th guys, on tour! They were in a older theater setting, and they were magnificent! Hysterical!!!
That was an awesome tour! I saw them in Modesto I think. It is amazing the way they did the interrogation scene.
I saw them last weekend in Eugene, OR. Awesome!
The "woooo" ladies as sound effects. That was one of the best improvs with Ryan and Colin.
Love this show!
It's still is on on the CW Tuesday nights. And the host now Aiesha Tyler
it unfortunately has just ended, no more new episodes
@@rishabhpb No problem. Just watch any episodes of the original British version you can. Then you'll really see what you're missing.
@@sandgrownun66 I've seen it all! Every UK and US episode ever made. WLIIA veteran 🙂
Original American host, it was in the UK before that with Clive.
@@ingiford175 I know, but don't care about the UK version.
I was born in 83, yeah I remember floppy disks... 😆
To answer the big question, Drew Carey was a stand up comic who also had his own Sitcom in the 90s.
Their improve singing is a hoot.
Whose Line Is It Anyway? originally aired on ABC and ABC Family from August 5, 1998 to December 15, 2007, hosted by Drew Carey. A revival of the show, hosted by Aisha Tyler, began airing on The CW on July 16, 2013.
Scenes from a hat is one of my favorite parts of of the show the other is Hoedown. Definitely recommend watching the Uncensored versions of these.
Brit, do yourself a favor and react to “whose line is it anyway with Richard Simmons?” It is one of the funniest things that’s ever happened and TV history 😂
Yeah, that and Ryan accidentally breaking the neon tube on Drew's desk are the funniest things I've ever seen on TV. Who would have guessed that Richard Simmons was an amazing improv talent?
One you absolutely must do is the Richard Simmons episode. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen, literally in tears every time I watch it.
The one with Richard Simmons
i think my favorite skits were the ones with the green screen and had colin as reporter another time and the images on the screen was one time of himself and one time of ryan th-cam.com/video/AotN5RN884E/w-d-xo.html
When Greg Proops said "Nice Aft" it was a play on words for "Nice A**". This is because the word "Aft" is a term meaning "towards the Stern/rear of a boat, plane, and spaceship".
I hope you get to see the clips from the show featuring Whoopi Goldberg (“Questions Only”) & Robin Williams (“Hollywood Directors”). They will crack you up big time 👍😆
Robin's frenetic energy is always a gold mine. The Holy Trinity of comedy, just missing Billy Crystal. Doesn't feel right to this day to see Whoopi and Billy without Robin.
@@rowanmayfair9249 … I’ve totally felt that way for a long time now, especially after I first saw them performing together in the comic relief fundraiser events back in the day. One legendary clip I’ll never forget from them is “the introduction from hell”. What’s supposed to be say a 10 - 20 second segment intro turns into nearly 10 minutes of comedy gold 🫵😂👍
@@rowanmayfair9249 … Whoopi brought that very point up in a video I saw recently where Billy received some lifetime achievement award or it may have been the Mark Twain award. @@gerardroll6468 Yes, I saw that too. Cried my heart out because he was the ONLY comedian to make me laugh, every time. It took me a bit over 5 years to even watch any of his work. It still hurts. He was so intelligent. Incandescent. Funny af at all times, that we saw at least. The Legends always go early, no matter the manner of death.
YES!! These should be a daily thing. 😂🤣 Any time Ryan and Colin (who's Canadian 👍👍) get together, it's simply magic. They play off of each other so well. Of course they've been doing this show together for nearly 30 years now. They were on the original British version in the 90's.
📺‼️ *THEY DID BRING IT BACK* - First there was a British version. Then late 90s Drew Carrie did the USA version on ABC for a lot of seasons into the 2000s. Then CW brought it back with the beautiful host Aisha Tyler. All 3 versions are great. But probably the most crazy good ones were with Drew Carrie. (The taller blonde guy was a main character on the Drew Carrie sitcom show in the 90s)
Some of the Best of Laughter ones are really good too. When they make each other break and lose composure it was always fantastic. One episode had Robin Williams on it, and another one had Stephen Colbert. It's kind of fun to go back and see those guys from about 20 years ago.
Drew was the first host - I remember 8" floppy's and 4 track tapes
There were no 4-tracks in the UK. The British were too sensible to deal with hassle of a crap format.
This is a revival. Also I have seen them live about a year ago and they were even more raunchy in person and it was ALL GOLD
Comedy in its purest form. Just off the cuff. Not to be taken seriously. Good times! So glad to see this show getting some love.
Ryan, the tall one usually had unique shoes and was occasionally the subject of the jokes. Colin usually for his baldness. Colin and Ryan are really good friends. Funny outtakes are when Ryan detests hoedowns or just bloopers in general. I loooove this show
I Love the skits they do when they go thru audience members purses and cell phones. So funny. Great reaction!! 🙂
This is still one of my favorite shows ever. I rewatch it every chance I get.
Ryan’s collection of Wing Tips is amazing! Ryan Stiles is stylin
This show was one of my sources for my 5 Be’s Of Charisma
- Be Authentic when you interact with others
- Be Confident in who you are
- Be Kind and courteous to others
- Be mindful of your use of language
- Be Mindful of your non verbal communication
This show had me in stitches back in the day, love Drew.
Absolutely one of my favorite shows!!! And like fine wine they got better and better.
The front of the boat is called forward and the rear is aft. Left is port and right is starboard.
The original show was on the BBC in the UK and aired on Comedy Central. Ryan and Colin were on that original show! Drew revived it. Aisha took over after Drew went to The Price Is Right.
Many of the people who appearedon this show also were regulars on the original British Whose Line. They werevalso on "The Drew Carey Show" sitcom.
I absolutely loved Whose Line back during the original Drew Carey run. They even had an episode with Robin Williams doing improv! Comedic gold!
This was hands down the best version of this series. I fell absolutely in love with it. I'm so sad it's no longer on air :(
Btw Britt, these guys do what they do so well cuz they're improv actors
A few years back they did a touring group called Drew Carey's Improv All Stars {you can find them on youtube}. And literally they would get an idea from the audience and on the fly come up with jokes. Kathy Kinney was with it in Vegas, the prompt from the audience was Automobile brands. She said "you can fit 4 people in my (volvo but instead ended the word with an "a")" The entire crew was done. One of the skits they made one of the guys take his shoes off, and blindfolded him. Then put mouse traps all around the stage and then had to act out a ballroom dance scene. {FWAP!}
Whose Live Anyway is a touring live performance with many of these same actors. I've seen it. It was hilarious and they freaky are that quick with the jokes.
I love Whose Line is it Anyway. My favorite segments were the ones where they develop unique stories and songs. Keep the great reactions coming. :)
Colin's "come!" is one of the most sublime witty answers ever in the history of mankind.
This is my fav show growing up 😂😂😂 i wish i can sit down with someone watching their shows all day n just laughing n never get bored.
For streaming: Most episodes of the US version (1998-) are available on Max, and the original UK version is on Tubi.
They do come up with all of this stuff on the fly! It's crazy how good they are!
Finally, the British OG version, gets its props.
The things these guys came up with were OUT OF THIS WORLD! 😂😂
Your natural love and joy for improv I absolutely love.
This cast is hilariously brilliant. Colin and Ryan are hilarious.
It's streaming on Pluto tv, HBO max and few others. It's also on network t.v. sometimes too
One of my favorite segments was song stylings.
Make a choice."
What a great show!!!
Drew Carey was the first desk person, so that’s an old episode. The female that is at the desk now, she was on the show,” Friends, Criminal Minds, and other shows and movies.”
The dog part, I totally expected "roll over."
