Ryan has a rubber face :) Ryan and Colin have been part of this show since it started in the UK edition, decades ago. They 'emigrated' when it moved to the US.
The show was originally a British 1/2 hour comedy show that started in 1988. Ryan & Colin did some episodes in the U.K. Drew's comedy show in the 90's was a 7:00cst/8:00 est anchor for ABC for a long time. ABC needed a show for the 1/2 hour following Drew's show one season and didn't have a sitcom ready, so Drew suggested an American Version of the show for the spring season for TV. You had a fall season, basically Sep. through Dec. and Spring from mid Jan. to Apr. The show was just to be a half season filler. Surprisingly, the show was a hit on it's own, basically giving Drew Carey two half hour shows back to back. Wayne was picked as the 3rd regular because of his ability to also improve songs. Then they had a round robin of the 4th comedian, but Greg Proops and Brad Sherwood were my favorites.
12:45 Wayne's pretty consistently on "Whose Line" also. The funniest ones that he's done are the skits where there's him singing. Skits like "Greatest Hits" or "Irish Drinking Song" or even "Hoedown"
There's a game of Question This (from Drew Carey's Improv-a-Ganza) here on TH-cam somewhere in which Ryan's character introduces himself as Neil Patrick Harris Senior who owns a company called Doogie's Houses.
If you like Ryan and Colin the most, you'd love a compilation of their game Greatest Hits. It's them acting like infomercial salesman trying to sell a CD with a given theme, and then they prompt songs that Wayne has to make up on the spot. But their banter in that game produced some of the most hilarious moments of the series 😂
Colin and Ryan were indeed the funniest on the show, but Wayne was a regular for a reason. Check out the game called Greatest Hits; Wayne is incredible in those. Best I've ever seen at musical improv
Josie Lawrence and Tony Slattery were the two stand outs from the British Whose Line from the 90s. Find an episode with both of them (not hard to do). She really kills whenever singing comes into play. High recommend.

@1:40 ish, Colin is also Canadian. Ryan is from USA but when he was a teenager, moved to Canada and worked there for many years. So part Canadian. Drew and Wayne are the only Americans that lived in the US their entire lives.
Josie Lawrence at the first part is part of the original UK Whose Line is it Anyway and was even on its first episode. If you ever watch the UK series, Josie is funny, but you'll love her improv singing even more.

@brittreacts - Doogie was his first show. Doogie was a child genius who graduated his educations early and the idea of the show was having to survive living as a teenager while constantly having to prove himself to his colleagues.
You would probably like some of the “greatest hits” skits Whose Line did in the 90s. The banter between Colin and Ryan, as well as the amazing musical improv from Wayne (and sometimes others) was fantastic. Or look up Whose Line Riverdance. That “song styles” skit was awesome!

Josie Lawrence is British. She was part of the original cast of the British version of Whose Line Is It Anyway? when it started in the late 80’s. Ryan Styles joined the British Whose line a couple of seasons in (around 1990) and quickly became a regular and favorite. Greg Proops joined briefly before him, and Brad Sherwood would join a couple of seasons later. Colin Mochrie was tried a few seasons later and didn’t do well to begin with, but luckily was given another shot and became a favorite too. Josie, Ryan, and Colin, along with others who by then had become regulars such as Stephen Fry and Greg Proops until the late 90’s when the popularity of the British show brought it to the U.S. where original host Clive Anderson and original producer Dan Patterson essentially made a continuation. It is at this point that Wayne Brady is seen for the first time in the show. That lasted for about a season where Patterson, Styles, and Drew Carrey retooled it into the modern version of the show that became more popular. Early on they went with the British model of rotating most chairs (the British version usually rotated all four chairs, to mixed results) except for Ryan and Colin, but quickly settled to keep Ryan, Colin, and Wayne fixed and rotate the fourth chair.
Josie is from the original Whose Line in the UK which also starred Colin and Ryan. Wayne Brady and Greg Proops also became regular guests as it got popular.
I’ve been a fan (and subscriber)of your show for a while now and I love that you’re joining the rest of us who have gone down the Whose Line rabbit hole. That well does not run dry. And yes, anything with Colin and Ryan is gold. Enjoy!
Josie Lawrence! She's an OG member of Whose Line, back when it was still a show on Channel 4 in UK. Before Wayne Brady, she was the one who did the absolute best improv songs in any style. Search "Whose Line UK" with her name and you'll get plenty of examples of how good she is.
The "all American comics" part was so funny because this show is an Americanized version of the British show of the same name and Josie is from Britain

Colin is a Scottish born Canadian and Ryan is a Seattle born Canadian-American who grew up in a suburb of Vancouver, so they both have a similar sense of humour, one being younger than the other. It's very cheeky and sarcastic, but you rarely see it coming. With Drew, you see him about to say something naughty before he even says it and you're waiting for it. With Colin and Ryan, it almost comes out of nowhere. Both of them were in the original UK version of Whose Line and their sense of humour fit with that. Personally, for me, unless it's the uncensored stuff they wouldn't allow on TV, I prefer the UK version. There's a bit where a guy does a full song on the spot about a member of the studio audience, who happens to be a secretary. I'll leave it at that. There's no profanity, but there's no way that ends up on primetime in America. I grew up with British comedy in Canada, so I love that sort of innuendo and double entendre. You don't just say something. That's lazy. You gently allude to it.
LOL, I haven't seen an episode of Doogie Howser since it was new on air... but I'd still recognize the theme song (or the one from the end when he's writing his journal) the instant I heard it.
Britt… Check out Robin Williams in Hollywood Directors or Scenes from a Hat & even Whoopi Goldberg in Questions Only, where she absolutely destroys Wayne with just 2 simple questions 😂😂😂😂
This is off topic but I love your sweater! Lol. She's from the UK ...she was on the show with Ryan Stiles and Colin when they were doing it in England....with Clive Anderson as the host of the show.
Josie was one of the stars of the Original British version of this show. Michael McShane (Friar Tuck in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) was a regular on that show.
Yep Neil Patrick Harris was a child actor. He starred in the late 1980's early 90's tv show Doogie Howser, M.D. about a genius teenager that was the youngest doctor/surgeon working at a hospital. It was a sort of drama with some comedy....it had a very classic 80's synth show theme song.
He was pretty much synonymous with Doogie Howser at the time. Then he went away for a long while. His career's second act started with a stunt casting in "Harold and Kumar to go White Castle" which got him his gig as Barney on "How I Met Your Mother". I guess it has been so long now that some younger people think of him as Barney first.
If you want to see some good games: Newsflash: One player (usually Colin although I think Ryan's done one of these as well) goes in front of a greenscreen to do a 'Breaking News' style broadcast, trying to work out the thing they're showing behind him, based off the reactions and questions of the other two players. Irish Drinking Song: 4 players have to make a song about a subject provided by an audience member. They take it in turns to provide one line per turn. Greatest Hits: If you want to see Wayne being awesome, this is the game for you. Colin and Ryan provide lead ins to various songs based on whatever the topic is, including the genre of the song. Wayne (and sometimes the fourth player) have to make the song up on the spot to suit the genre... and they usually pull it off incredibly well.
Ryan is my favorite, but Colin is so hilarious and so random!! And then together they’re the dynamic duo! Fun fact: Colin almost didn’t get the job but Ryan convinced them to hire him essentially (Ryan had already been hired). I forgot the details of the story, but I always thought that was interesting
Ryan and Colin are definitely the Whose Line Is It Anyway Duo. You should if you have not already do Whose Line Is It Anyway : Best of Laughter Parts 1-3 next
My great uncle looks just like Ryan. Same face with a big nose, and same exact facial and body mannerisms. It's kinda trippy. Main difference being that my great uncle always had salt and pepper hair and is around 6'3". He was a dairy farmer. Super funny and always messes with you.
Josie Lawrence the lady is in first segments from the original Whose Line is it. The show originally came from the England, it's where Collin and Ryan got their start on the show. It's really funny...perhaps you should watch full episode vs just parts.
Wayne said that the ryan and Colin were the smartest people he knows. They're always reading news, dictionaries, anything to allow them to pull from anything. You can watch all the American whose lines on MAX. but if you get a chance to watch the richard Simmons episode its one of the best ever
There was one skit of "scenes from a hat" and Drew picks out..THINGS YOU SAY SAY TO YOUR DOG, BUT NOT YOUR PARTNER. Colin just strolls out looks directly at the camera..and says COME. The whole cast broke up, audience went berserk and I think Drew peed himself a little. I was sooo proud to be a Canadian that day. And standards & practices didn't bleep it or cut it out. ABC at 8pm on a Thurs, let it slide by.
To be fair, if you watch enough Whose Line clips, you'll see Colin and Ryan kiss A LOT 😂 and Ryan and Colin are legit the best, theyve been doing this show for about 30 years. Fun fact, in a recent interview, Colin has stated that Whose Line has been the highest grossing tv show on ABC and CW, in terms of how much they spend to make it. Considering they don't hire writers or any other staff, the only expenses for the show are the stage rental, and camera operators. Everything else is improv or audience participation, and they can film like 5 episodes in 3 hours, so it being super cheap to make has made it successful
4:10 Poking fun at the host Drew Carey about how he just has to sit there and not really do anything is a running gag on the show. Wayne is imitating Drew messing up doing his "very easy" job.
There's a skit they do called "sideways scene". They're laying down and the camera is filming them from the ceiling. It sounds weird but trust me it's hilarious. It's when Aisha Tyler was host

Josie is from the original BBC “Who’s Line is it Anyway” as Colin and Ryan are too.
You're hooked. Don't deny it. One of the best addictions.
These were four of the original UK Whose Line crew (Josie/Greg/Ryan and Colin)... The last two started in series 2 in the UK...
LOL, I haven't seen an episode of Doogie Howser since it was new on air... but I'd still recognize the theme song (or the one from the end when he's writing his journal) the instant I heard it.
Excellent show!! Doogie Houser!!! 😊❤❤❤ it was great!
I ADORE Josie. She was my favorite back when Comedy Central used to play the British show.
She was one of my favorites, too. Same with Ryan.
You're right, Colin is absolutely the funniest - he's the one who causes the rest of the cast to laugh the most.
I met Ryan at the Belis Fair Mall near where he lived when I was little. He was a really nice and humble guy.
I just noticed that for people who don't know Robin Williams too well, Rosie's bit looks outlandish lol
The show is originally from the UK, as are the show's producers. Also, Colin Mochrie is Canadian.
Josie was one of the stars of the Original British version of this show. Michael McShane (Friar Tuck in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) was a regular on that show.
Colin, Ryan, Wayne, Brad and Greg were my fav. Typically any combination was awesome. Colin and Ryan are the best imo.
Wayne's line about the two revenuers from Verona was a spoof on the opening scene of Romeo and Juliet.
wayne saying welcome to whose line then messing up was him imitating drew
Some of the seasons of the "Whose Line is it" show with Aisha Tyler as the host are so good, if you haven't seen much of them yet.
I like Ryan's smirk at the end of a lot of his lines with the hat game
I agree about full episodes. Drew Carey’s Extravaganza is worth a look as well.
President Obama called him "openly terrific."
You should check out the compilation called "The News According to Collin" really funny.
Britt discovering Doogie Howser is the best part of this haha
Other Colin/Ryan centric games from the show that are worth checking out are "News Flash," "Greatest Hits," "Infomercial," and "Helping Hands."
The duo of Collin and Ryan is magical
Sound Effects with Ryan and Colin has to be the funniest skit type they do
If you want to see some good games:
Newsflash: One player (usually Colin although I think Ryan's done one of these as well) goes in front of a greenscreen to do a 'Breaking News' style broadcast, trying to work out the thing they're showing behind him, based off the reactions and questions of the other two players.
3:06 was Ryan imitating Bush imitating Mick Jagger
Ryan and Colin were the MVPs, but Wayne had some bangers as well, specially when it came to the musical stuff.
Ryan and Colin are definitely the Whose Line Is It Anyway Duo. You should if you have not already do
Whose Line Is It Anyway : Best of Laughter Parts 1-3 next
Colin is Canadian.
0:41
"No Offense?"
He'd jokingly said that because Colin's Canadian
The show was originally filmed in Britain.
Ryan and Colin were so good on that show. But the guest appearance by Robin Williams was the funniest episode ever!
100% agree, Colin & Ryan always steals the show! 😂🙂
I laughed so hard when you talked about fools getting paid.
Scenes From A Hat is Drew's favorite game. Doogie Howser, M.D. was a cool show that got Neil recognized as a good actor.
This is just scratching the surface of Scenes From A Hat. A deep dive into them is required here.
My great uncle looks just like Ryan. Same face with a big nose, and same exact facial and body mannerisms. It's kinda trippy.
Main difference being that my great uncle always had salt and pepper hair and is around 6'3". He was a dairy farmer. Super funny and always messes with you.
♥ this show!
"Film Noir" and "Sound Effects" are my personal favorite.
• "Whose Line Is It Anyway-Sound Effects Part 1" uploaded by house911 is worth watching.
Colin and Ryan made this show hilarious 😂 please watch the best of Ryan and Colin 😭🙏🏻
Colin is Canadian that's why Drew said "no offence"
7:00 Well, there you go. 🙂
There's a skit they do called "sideways scene". They're laying down and the camera is filming them from the ceiling. It sounds weird but trust me it's hilarious. It's when Aisha Tyler was host
New show cut out too many old games that were fun. They only kept a couple.
Ryan and Colin could literally run that entire show
😅This Show Is Incredible. I Luv Every Bit. Great Reaction👍🏾💯👍🏾
I loved Doogie Houser as a kid! ❤
You should check out the blooper and outtake reel of this show. It's hilarious.
Whoopi Goldberg on Whose Line was nothing short of magical. Her, & also Robin Williams. I miss that guy dearly.
