For a business you have you could of never shown us you ever made a mistake. In learning through youtube only, it gives the impression of perfection. THANK YOU for showing honesty, changing things around, and how to fix and see your mistakes. Another great business move!
We all make these kinds of mistakes, difference being is we all aren't being filmed! Thank you for putting this out here so we can see how easily mistakes can occur and how we might overcome them!
You just created new patterns. You’re so smart. That’s what happens when you say I’m not going to waste this material or my time. I really like the runner.
Wow! I totally could have made the same mistake. Thank you, Kimberly, for not just editing the video but keeping it real. This truly was an educational video. Kudos.
It’s refreshing to know that professional seamstresses make the same mistakes as the rest of us and how EASILY it can happen!!! Thank you for sharing this with us ❣️
Thank you for continuing with this video. watching it showed us that anyone can make this mistake. Bringing it to our attention it is a lesson learned. mistakes happen. I will watch more of your videos just for the reason of you being a real person.
Kimberly so sorry you made a mistake on your quilt. Atthe same times it's good to see a professional make a mistake to know how well it can be solved. Great job,
I have been your store cutomer for some time ... I just started watching your videos and I love how detailed you are. This is great ... when you get lemons make lemonade and in this case make table toppers and runners ... You run a wonderful business and I congratulate you big time on your 20th Anniversary !! And many many more!!
Boy, do we all make mistakes!! I’m glad you showed that though because that gave us all kinds of ideas of things to make when we do goof up. The quilt and other things came out beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I love your tutorial videos!!
When I was learning to wood carve years ago, the teacher said “That woodcarvers never make mistakes, they just redesign”…. Looks like I can still use that mantra! Kimberly…. It looks great!!! Love the design!!!
Kimberly, it takes courage to keep it real on TH-cam. Thank you! I can't count how many times I made mistakes, sometimes unfixable. Your strength is being able to reimagine the original goal and make it work.
Thank you Kimberly for showing everyone that no mistake is “world ending” 😉. When I used to teach, I encouraged all of my students to shout out when a mistake was made…it was a great opportunity for me to show everyone how to fix it or how to be creative & think of another option. Sometimes a “mistake” turns out to be a great new design!
I love that you showed how you made a mistake. We all do it but most don't admit it. Showing what you did wrong will help so many of us to not make that same mistake. Either way, your project turned out great! 😊
I'm a brand new quilter, having stayed with a quilting ministry at church. I have made 6 quilt tops so far with 8x8 (6- inch blocks), for foster children :-) and i have started a jelly roll race quilt because it looked the easiest.... i am BOGGLE by how amazing the different cuts can create incredible blocks!!! :-) I'm writing though, to tell you how much i appreciate you making this understandable, and how you are honest about your faux pax. Thank you!!!!!!
Thank you, Kimberly, for showing us the mistake because we all make them. I liked how you decided to use the squares instead of throwing them out. Loved this video.
Showing how you handled a mistake was inspirational for me to see. I don't handle my mistakes like this. In fact, I get so discouraged that I just stop what I'm doing and don't go back in my sewing room for days. Honestly, I've pretty much given up quilting because I just can't do it correctly all the time. I had pretty much decided that quilting wasn't for me. I love quilts but I don't love quilting. I have even talked about selling all of my gear... machines, fabric, etc. Making quilts is expensive and I have felt like I can't afford to make mistakes... waste fabric. I'm going to have a re-think. Thank you.
Boondoggle - I have been quilting for 30 years and the mistakes I have made far far outnumber what “I was supposed to do”, but I keep going and sometimes have to proceed with an altered plan, but I assure you that that IS what makes each so very special to me. Sometimes I actually leave my mistake and from then on they are my giggle spots. And actually that is sew me! Lol!
You are someone who just needs a good helpful quilt group for loads of encouragement and help along the way. My first sampler quilt …well… let’s just say I made every mistake possible, but my stubborn nature kept me going and I finished it regardless. It looks just fine.
Oh, don't give up! This vid is a perfect example of how to work with mistakes. The end results are still gorgeous! And, you don't need to mention your mistake(s), just let the viewer marvel at your beautiful creation(s). Pssst, when you start with gorgeous fabrics, the end results will be gorgeous ❤️
When I make a mistake I say that I truly have a one of a kind quilt. No one has one like mine. And sometimes a new design is born. That’s the beauty and the fun of quilting. It lets me be creative even on the times that I’m not trying to be. We ALL make mistakes on our quilts no matter how long we’ve been quilting.
Thank you for showing us. You had the option of never letting us see this. I really appreciate that you let us all know how to salvage a mistake. I would have just scrapped the entire thing and missed out on the beautiful runner and toppers! They really are cute! And the quilt will be beautiful too.
I love how you are always so honest about your mistakes Kimberly! I think it's nice to share that and also show how you adapt to it. Wonderful, as usual!
Disregard my question about a Jelly Roll Split Strips Quilt pattern. I watched the video again and that’s when I saw the fabric requirements and cutting guidelines. I watched the video again because sometimes I over look stuff and it causes me to make mistakes. I love your channel.
While this may not be any consolation, it made me feel less imperfect! Lol I absolutely love watching you and totally love how you repurposed the blocks for a sucessful sew!! Thanks.
I've been quilting for 32 years, and I still make mistakes! But, the beauty of quilting is that you can still work with your mistakes & create a whole new quilt (pattern). The fabrics are beautiful, and the end result is also beautiful. The trick is letting go of your intended goal and creating your "own" design. And, don't tell people the mistake you made; let them marvel at your gorgeous creation! I'm an artist: we learn to accept our mistakes and build on top of them - we call it Creativity 😀 Kimberly, your quilt results are beautiful. Many Thanks, Lindsay in Sacramento, CA.
Lol, I had to replay a couple of times to “get” what the mistake was. Mine would probably be quilted before I caught such an error I think 😅. Nice save & thank you for being real ❤
Thanks so much to opening my eyes and thoughts that when I goof all is not lost... I can totally use them for a different project, somehow this has not been obvious to me so I end up shelving some projects out of frustration🤷 Some of my UFO's may be a tad easier to finish now👍
I love watching all your videos! ♥️♥️Especially the Weekend bag video. My daughter and I made a Couple of these for her grand babies ( my great grands) as baby bags. We had so much fun together. I also made your 12 blocks 2022 last year and have started your 2023 12 blocks. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us. Would love the giveaway gift as I don’t have many scraps. Still fairly new at sewing quilts. 🧵🪡🥰 Nana Becky.
I made the exact cutting mistake last year when cutting up blocks for a queen size quilt! I ended up removing some of the stitching on the “correct” cuts and worked it out! Shew🙇♀️ I learned a valuable cutting lesson for a lifetime! We are ALL human and prone to mistakes. Not giving up and correcting them as best we can, is the JOY of quilting!
You are so creative and was able to continue making 3 beautiful projects even though you made a mistake. Thank you for pointing that mistake out so we don’t make the same mistake.
"Mistakes" are just successes where we learn how not to do something in the future or how to do it in an entirely different way. Mistakes are the best.
I'm so glad you shared this video! This is a mistake that anyone could have made and now we get to learn something from it. I haven't made that block yet, but when I do, I will now know to check the orientation of the blocks before cutting the diagonal! A valuable lesson for everybody and you probably saved multiple folks from the same issue. Thank you for keeping it real.
And there you go…..starting with a great block and plan…….make mistakes……then take the time to see what you can do with your mistakes instead of berating yourself. Great outcome! Love this video. Thanks for making it, with the mistakes, and letting us see all of it. Blessings and take care.
I like everything you did... improvisational blocks look like they were supposed to be that way from the start. 3 different lay outs from the same basic block! I love it all & going to try this block soon! ♥️
I love this quilt and thank you for sharing what you did and how you made it work! We all make mistakes and I love that you are so open and honest. I totally would have done the same thing!!!
Kim, thank you for sharing this video. I love the fact that you're human and you make mistakes and you showed how to move forward. I love the original look of the quilt, along with the table topper & table runner. I want to make all!!! Have a great rest of your week, look forward to your Friday live.
I would have made the same mistake and I love your honesty! Sewing can be discouraging at times and it's great to know that can happen to anyone and you saved the quilt. Thank you :)
THANK YOU! You sweet darlin' one! I WOULD HAVE DONE THAT! I know because I HAVE done THAT BEFORE! It was a pattern where I needed to sew half parts to the left and half to the right and I (ended up) had to RIP OUT MY MISTAKES AND SEW THEM correctly! I was lucky, because after the corrections I did end up with a quilt! I AM SOOOOO GLAD YOU SHOWED US to prevent me from doing that! I know what I am supposed to do now but I can STILL mess this up........because my mind will wander!
Love that you always keep it real! This was a great reminder that we’ll all make mistakes but we can always pivot and go another direction and it’s not the end of the world!
I've saved this video. I think it is a really good instructional video with the mistake and all. We all make mistakes. Luckily, by your mistake in cutting, you proved that we do not necessarily have a disaster on our hands. It was very, very brave of you to put this video out and you should be proud of yourself for doing so. Thank you for letting me and countless others learn from you. Bless you.
Thank you, Kimberly, for this video, so many times I either sewn or cut something wrong then I end up throwing it away. I will start keeping my mistakes and build something different.
For a business you have you could of never shown us you ever made a mistake. In learning through youtube only, it gives the impression of perfection.
THANK YOU for showing honesty, changing things around, and how to fix and see your mistakes. Another great business move!

Pop poll😊
You just created new patterns. You’re so smart. That’s what happens when you say I’m not going to waste this material or my time. I really like the runner.
BEAUTIFUL THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING A TUTORIAL ON THIS PATTERN 🧵🪡
Mistakes happen. You fixed it beautifully. Thank you for showing it happens to all of us.
I agree. Go with what you have. As the saying goes. There are no mistakes. They are opportunities.
Well played, Kimberly, well played!!
We all make mistakes- don’t be so hard on yourself! We love you!
Wow! I totally could have made the same mistake. Thank you, Kimberly, for not just editing the video but keeping it real. This truly was an educational video. Kudos.
It’s refreshing to know that professional seamstresses make the same mistakes as the rest of us and how EASILY it can happen!!! Thank you for sharing this with us ❣️
❤. You are a gem. Thank you for showing us, how a simple mistake can be easily missed, and how you can positively salvage the situation 🙏
Thank you for keeping it real! I love this video.
There are no mistakes... only creative opportunities!!!
You created a nice looking acident! Everything turned out nice.
Most people probably wouldn't have shown the mistake. Thank you for doing so. We all make mistakes!
Thanks for sharing. Makes me feel better knowing it really does happen to others.
Great job,
I love it. There are no mistakes just redesigns . Ty for sharing
I love that you kept going, and made something beautiful, out of your mistake. I also love that you kept filming and showed it to us.😍♥️😍
ABSOLUTELY love the table runner! Such a clever mistake. This is HOW discoveries are found. NO WORRIES ☺️
I loved your video! I would have probably cried a little and quit! I actually love the table runner and toppers.
Several valuable tips I learned, not just how to roll with it when you make a mistake. Awesome video!
Oh my goodness! I have done the same mistake, but I did not know why the block came out wrong. Now I see what I did. Super thanks.
That would take me forever to do! It’s lovely Kimberly❤
I like the mistake. For the pattern turned actually quite cute. So your mistake turned out to be a win win for you
We don't make mistakes (on purpose) just variations, haha. Nice recovery!!
This is what makes us human, I do this all the time! Thank you for showing us the way to go to plan B. Love watching your videos.
I have watched this several different times and I always feel better in knowing others are as human as me. Thanks for sharing!
I have been your store cutomer for some time ... I just started watching your videos and I love how detailed you are. This was a very interesting video. Thanks for publishing it.

Kimberly you took a lemon situation and turned it into a really awesome batch of lemonade! That shows how creative you are! You are amazing!

I would have just scrapped the entire thing and missed out on the beautiful runner and toppers! They really are cute! And the quilt will be beautiful too.
We love seeing stuff like this- and what to do when it happens!
I love how you are always so honest about your mistakes Kimberly! I think it's nice to share that and also show how you adapt to it. Wonderful, as usual!
Even with mistakes, your work is always beautiful, Kimberley.

What a wonderful lesson! Honestly, this was exceptional! Thank you!
All beautiful. I would have just finished the quilt but I love that even Kimberly makes a quilting goof!! Love that you kept it in!!!
Thank you for sharing your "happy accident"! Your projects came out beautiful! 💖🤗🙏
Love the big reveal of the final projects which were lovely. Sewing days aren't all the same. Sometimes things do go awry.
Great solution really like the table runner
You are so creative and was able to continue making 3 beautiful projects even though you made a mistake. Thank you for pointing that mistake out so we don’t make the same mistake.
Thank you for this video. You guys are great. I'm off to join now... 🤗
Best video ever. Enjoy the process. Be creative. Don’t stress
I love that you admit your mistakes. You really are awesome. I love your tutorials and the way you keep it real. Thank you.
"Mistakes" are just successes where we learn how not to do something in the future or how to do it in an entirely different way. Mistakes are the best.
That would be a good video of showing some of the mistakes that you had and show how you fixed them.
I'm so glad you shared this video! This is a mistake that anyone could have made and now we get to learn something from it. I can hardly tell the difference!! They all look great!! Improvisation is our friend!!
I liked your tip of rotating the selvedges. Hope I can remember it when I need to. No worries, Kimberly, about mistakes. Thanks for sharing.
Kimberly I love your sweater! This was so fun to watch !
And there you go…..starting with a great block and plan…….make mistakes……then take the time to see what you can do with your mistakes instead of berating yourself. Great outcome! Love this video. Thanks for making it, with the mistakes, and letting us see all of it. Blessings and take care.
Great ideas for what to do if we make mistakes and we all do that at some time! :)
its always nice to know a professional can make a mistake! Thank you for showing us!
Still came out beautiful thanks for the tips❤❤❤❤
I like everything you did... improvisational blocks look like they were supposed to be that way from the start. 3 different lay outs from the same basic block! I love it all & going to try this block soon! ♥️
Very well done! So nice to know others make mistakes too! Great job of redesigning this quilt! Thanks! Joan
Thanks for keeping it real and for sharing the problem solving!! You are fabulous!
I really appreciate that you show us how you fixed this particular mistake. We all do it, it’s nice to see how other people re-work their project.
Bless your heart, yesterday I cut the spool brown fabric wrong and had to buy another 2 yards. So your not alone!!
Thanks so much for sharing, especially with a mistake! Makes me feel SOOOO much better when I make my own mistake. I still love what you made.
Thanks for showing how easy it is to make a major umph! You saved everyone else from doing the same darn thing.
It looks beautiful, but clearly labor intensive.
Thanks for the suggestion to make 3 squares first. Took me a while to visually get the strip in the middle
I would have made the same mistake and I love your honesty! Sewing can be discouraging at times and it's great to know that can happen to anyone and you saved the quilt. Thank you :)
I love the idea to make one test block first. I think I'll do that from now on. Thank you!
Beautiful recovery❤❤

Lemonade out of lemons. I love the colors.
I would of done the same thing which I’ve done and just turned it into something else.I like the mistake you did well done Kimberly 👍👏🌸🇦🇺
Thank you, Kimberly, for this video, so many times I either sewn or cut something wrong then I end up throwing it away. I will start keeping my mistakes and build something different.
Thank you for showing how easy it is to mess up. I know all about that. Love your videos.
Oh no!!! Still turned out beautiful!!!
Turned out better than planned!! It’s easy to get discouraged a d throw away !! But not you!! Great lesson for me!! Thank you!!
Yay Kimberly. You’re a fantastic teacher. Redirect, redesign perfect
