It occurs to me that this pattern would make a really cute baby quilt in fun fabrics. It’s dynamic, has a lot of movement and in bold colors with a bit of black-and-white it would be totally cute! This is a really fun pattern! Thanks, Kimberly and Gang!
Thank you Kimberly for not only a fun pattern but the tip on snipping the seam if you pressed and sewed to the wrong direction. I’ve struggled with that a few times.
I have the same machine and never gave thought to using the right compensating foot for piecing. Given the accuracy you achieve, I’m going to give it a try.
Thanks for the tutorial Kimberly. Also for the tip on snipping to the seam if you press in the wrong direction. Really love this quilt. Planning on making another one with leftover strips as a Christmas gift for my daughter and her family.
Thank you sooo much for the free pattern! Snowflakes are a few of my favorite things 😉😉😉 Now to find the perfect jelly roll and I’ll be sporting a beautiful snowflake quilt this winter .... all because of your generosity!!! 💕💕💕 Stay well and safe
Love your videos. Finally I meet up with a quilter that pins blocks together prior to sewing and presses after each seam sewn! For me this helps with the accuracy of the block. I’ve recently purchased a Roll & Press tool - though I must say getting up to the ironing board is a good break from sitting at the sewing machine….
This is the first project like this for me and the first patchwork I have done in about 35 years! My blocks are not nearly as perfect as Kimberly's but I sure learned a lot! It has given me the confidence to take the rest of the jelly roll and make a 2nd one.
A Great Big thank You to all who were involved in making this sew a long! I had a Blast making the blocks and picked up some of Kimberly’s quilting knowledge. It made my Christmas in July! ❤️
As always thanks for all you and your staff do to make our lives so much easier and creative! Love that the center block lets us do us, how brilliant of you! I love Fat Quater Shop!!!
Thank you FQS for a fun little project. Have my Christmas jelly roll and coordinating solid along with all the videos saved. Like Kimberly says....now let's get started!
Thank you for the quilt along. It has been fun. I am not sure about the center either. I had it arranged a little different on my design wall so I will rearrange it according to the pattern and see what I think before sewing it together. I don't have yardage so if I decide to change the center block from white to a pattern I will have to come up with something from strips that fits.
Thank you for this great free project. I was having trouble with color choices. Now that I can see where things go I can finish working on this quilt. ❤️
This was a very fun quilt to make. I liked that is was a mystery and the quilt is so festive. I'm sure I'll make another one because I'm keeping this one. Thank you Fat Quarter Shop for this sewalong.
OK...LOVE THIS final design outcome! I haven't been able to watch every video or sew along but I indeed will be putting this in my list to work on! I have recently collected Christmas fabrics and didn't know what I wanted to use them for...NOW I DO!! Thanks, Kimberly dear...you are adorable!
Thanks so much for the fun sewalong! I’m so happy to have a Christmas quilt done for this year already! Loved watching the videos, too, picked up some tips to help me when I’m piecing.
A lovely quilt and quick enough to make for Christmas ....in October lol as the year has gotten away from me. Thanks again for the patterns and video help 😊☘️💐💐💐
I have enjoyed making this quilt, however I'm a little disappointed with the plain center, so I will be doing something different. I would also like to make a second one now that I now what it looks like finished, maybe even a third one in one color.
I made a 2 rectangle square from the jelly roll with a light background and candycanes to fill that space. It is still mostly white but not quite so stark.
I didnt join but I'm having regrets now. Will need this jelly roll and the deer panel that goes with it. I think you should have shown the panel. It's a cutie
I have really enjoyed this sew along. As a new quilter that has not mastered free motion quilting and only has a home machine can you advise what I should do for the quilting on this please. So much fun making this. Thank you.
I was sewing mine this morning as I watched this! Thank you for such a beautiful fun Christmas 🎄 in July project Kimberly❣️💁♀️Loved every minute. Hugs🤗
Kimberly, I am learning so much from you about quilting. Thank you for making all these great tutorials for us. I want to ask you where do you buy your blouses? In every episode you have a beautiful and classy top.
Welshwitch...yes, it makes me see how much better my piecing would be if I was a little more OCD. I mean that in a very positive way. Everything is just so perfect. That’s what I want.....😩
O my I have learned so much from these videos about so many things. #1 Starching was a must on my 2 1/2 strips #2 how to do points on the stars #3 it is OK to press the wrong way there is a way to fix it by a small cut and press it again #4 cutting half yards and cutting 2 1/2 strips from them instead from the whole ball of wax, so much easier to do so much manageable #5 and them putting on the borders by measuring it in half and putting a little bit pass the ends of the quilt and them measure the quilt in half too. I'm so proud, one more thing closer to a Christmas to-dos off my list. Thank You for the free pattern and all the videos to go along with it. Can not wait to see what is for next year, I'm on board totally for another one. Stay Safe till the next time.
I enjoyed this sewing along so much! Now if I would just get it done!! Tell me what is wrong with my logic on the following .. I don’t like to press open 1/4 seams (bad hands). So what I do for borders and for binding is I press open the seams before I cut off the excess. That gives a lot of fabric to work with and I don’t burn my hands. I then go back and cut the excess down to a 1/4 inch seam. Is there a problem doing it this way? I assume this is the video that had to be re-recorded! Thanks for sharing! Great job to you, Lilly, and the lady who designs them!
Hello Kathy! If you are just doing a bigger seam anyway, like 1/2", you can just cut the borders and binding wider, use a bigger seam for binding and borders and you shouldn't even need to trim it back down.
Hello Teresa! Kimberly is using a Juki TL 2010Q and a Compensating 1/4" foot for Juki TL Series: www.kenssewingcenter.com/juki-compensating-foot-for-tl-series.html#
I’m a fairly new quilter and it just happens that none of the patterns I’ve made have had borders - except the Ultimate Beginner Quilt. In those videos, Kimberly stressed the importance of cutting the border exactly to the right length so that it would finish at the desired size. But here she specifically says not to do that. The way she marks the border length with the pins is similar, but I’m still confused about which way is correct.
Hello Little Bay! The technique she's using for Jelly Snowflake is a slightly more relaxed method that still gets the borders perfect. By starting just slightly oversized, sewing down, then trimming, you don't have to be concerned about them falling short.
I love your bonnie blouse lass, it is gorgeous. Your sewing machine sounds a lot quieter than some, please can you tell me what kind of Juki you have please and what is that quarter inch foot that you were using? Is just for a juki or can it go on other sewing machines? I am on the quilting part of my first quilt for my little teddybear AKA my grandson who is 5. Since he has a double bed, i made him a quilt that would fit it. He has autism like my son and my brother and he likes the weight on him, especially when he is upset, so his quilt he will be able to get cuddles from me, when he needs them most and when i'm around to give him the real thing. Harry's quilt is a disappearing 9 patch made out of Toy Story materials as that is his very favourite film/s. Thank you for sharing your hints and tips with us. from Norah, Glenochil Village, Central Scotland
Hello Norah! Kimberly is using a Juki TL 2010Q and she is using a Compensating 1/4" foot for Juki TL Series: www.kenssewingcenter.com/juki-compensating-foot-for-tl-series.html# The foot is only for Juki machines.
Hello Nalini! You would want to quilt the entire quilt top. You can custom quilt it to stay mostly in the background, but we used an all over pantograph on ours.
Kimberly can you please tell me what I’m doing wrong. When ever I make stars I never have 1 full quarter inch at the tips. When I sew another piece to it. I lose all my points. How can I prevent this?
Hello Linda! The first thing to check is how accurate your quarter-inch seam is. th-cam.com/video/FVOCv7aoQcs/w-d-xo.html It sounds like your seam is maybe too small, which would cause your points to land beyond where they should, and when you piece the blocks together, you would lose the points.
Hello Karen! We did not film a video on binding for this series. However, we do have other videos on how to do binding here: th-cam.com/play/PLNTabBf7OG9JWS783tlH7pf02-_oc8MA3.html
Hello Melissa! Edyta Sitar has a blog post with additional borders can make it larger that way: www.laundrybasketquilts.com/blog/jelly-snowflake-finishing-touches/
It occurs to me that this pattern would make a really cute baby quilt in fun fabrics. It’s dynamic, has a lot of movement and in bold colors with a bit of black-and-white it would be totally cute! This is a really fun pattern! Thanks, Kimberly and Gang!
i love your tip of leaving each block chain pieced together. Thanks Kimberly♥
Thank you Kimberly for not only a fun pattern but the tip on snipping the seam if you pressed and sewed to the wrong direction. I’ve struggled with that a few times.
This was a lot of fun Kimberly. Thank You so much for doing this with us.

Thanks for the tutorial Kimberly. Also for the tip on snipping to the seam if you press in the wrong direction. Really love this quilt. Planning on making another one with leftover strips as a Christmas gift for my daughter and her family.
Thank you Kimberly I love that you show all the little details that you use
It’s a perfect snowflake, light and bright. Thanks FQS.
I used some Christmas fat quaters that I had been collecting and they worked just fine
I love how this quilt came out. Kudos to the design team and to you and Lilly for filming. We appreciate the free patterns that you give us!
Happened to see this in my feed. This is such a pretty quilt.
Beautiful, wish it were a little bigger...BUT, 💖 free !
Great tip about joining the border. I also leave a little space to see where to end the diagonal line.
Hooray! I just finished my quilt top. I added a piano keyboard border to use up the jelly roll strips. Thanks for the pattern and video tutorial.
Thank you! This was fun. I plan to make another. My mom also enjoyed it. She made one with scraps .

Had a lot of fun joining FQS for jellysnowflake quilt. Thank you. Making a reverse jelly from leftover strips.
Thank you again for all your wonderful free content💝 The tip on how to nest seams when they get pressed the wrong way is brilliant ❣️
Fun sew along, thank you. I changed up the center block to a nine patch pulling in colors from the other blocks. Hope we can do another one together.
Thank you so much for all your wonderful free content❣️ The tip on how to nest seams when pressed the wrong way is brilliant❄️❄️❄️❄️
A Great Big thank You to all who were involved in making this sew a long! I had a Blast making the blocks and picked up some of Kimberly’s quilting knowledge. It made my Christmas in July! ❤️
Love it! Having so much fun. I hope you will have something in August on Thursday or Thursday’s will be lonely! Thanks again
I hope to finish the quilt this weekend. Thank you Kimberly. I have enjoyed the tutorials and tips.
Thank you so much this was fun every week, sorry it has come to an end but I love it !!

You have the prettiest patterns! Thanks for the awesome tutorials!
Thank you FQS for a fun little project. Have my Christmas jelly roll and coordinating solid along with all the videos saved. Like Kimberly says....now let's get started!
Thank you for this project! It sure made July pass quickly!
I really like the way you attach the borders. I am going to do it that way from now on.
Thank you for the quilt along. It has been fun. I am not sure about the center either. Great video! Now I am off to my sewing room to assemble my snowflake quilt. :)
What a great surprise! I love it! I didn't get to sew along but I will definitely be making this quilt.
I have enjoyed making this quilt, however I'm a little disappointed with the plain center, so I will be doing something different. I would also like to make a second one now that I now what it looks like finished, maybe even a third one in one color.
I was thinking the same, so am going to do a Christmas embroidery and place in center.
Check Pat Sloan's page. She gives instructions for a saw-toothed star center that I will be using.
@@sueherman7280 thanks, I watch her everyday and have already printed the information.
I like your idea of making it a two color quilt.
I made a 2 rectangle square from the jelly roll with a light background and candycanes to fill that space. It is still mostly white but not quite so stark.

How did people do the quilting when you finished piecing this quilt? I thoroughly enjoyed making it and am ready to get it finished.
Hello Nancy! We selected a Christmas themed pantograph and Gina Tell of Thread Graffiti quilted it. Here is her website: www.thread-graffiti.com/
