I just want to thank you for this, and say to the subscriber who is going through a rough patch in life:
Hang in there. I have depression and so understand a little of what you are going through. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Same on the depression issue. Please hang in there. I recently had a cousin commit suicide. The hardest part about depression is, when we need help the most, is when we are stuck within ourselves the most, and we rarely reach out for help. See if you can try and find some online resources when you are feeling even a little bit better. Get some sunshine. Do the smallest of tasks, like getting out of bed, taking a shower. Small steps build momentum. Wishing you the best! Try this link to see if you have anything close to you. @@jeffk2526 - To add to your post, health insurance companies should offer case management services for behavioral health issues. A case manager will help guide you through the process of finding medical professionals who can help you with your needs - finding a therapist, doctor, getting prescriptions and more. They will not judge you in any way. And just an FYI, your health information is protected by HIPPA, a federal law which protects sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient’s consent or knowledge. Violation of this law can result in substantial fines and penalties.

@@c4sb2008 I am so sorry for your loss. I know it is hard. Just so you know where I am coming from, I lost my brother (36) and sister (34) to a rare genetic condition and then mom and dad, all within a 15 year period. I thought I was coping, until a coworker told me I needed to get help. For once I took the advice. Please talk to your doctor or find a grief group where you can say what you want or need to say and know you will not be judged. *Online groups were not available when I went, but there are all kinds of groups, some that meet from fall to spring, and others that meet year-round. So, keep trying until you find one that fits.

To answer your question, how did we handle so much good music? THERE WAS NO INTERNET, so we listened to the radio. And if we heard a new song we liked, we listened closely to hear the DJ announce who it was. And if we missed it, we would probably hear it again soon and would catch the name then. AND THEN WE WOULD GO TO TOWER RECORDS or some other record store and buy tapes, vinyl, and CDs (depending on the decade). OR if you were real young or couldn't afford to buy CDs, you might have recorded your own tape from the radio like I did and listen to your favorite songs that way.

    • @dwaneanderson8039
      @dwaneanderson8039 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

Yeah, I used to tape songs off the radio. I would try to start the tape recorder just before the next song was about to start. If it wasn't a song I liked, I would stop the tape, rewind it back to the end of the last song, and try again on the next song. Sometimes I would call the station and request songs I wanted to record. I still have tapes that I recorded in the 70's.

Let’s just say our house was constantly filled with music… my older brother playing his guitar in the bedroom, his band in the garage… the stereo in the living room… the piano, an insane amount of good energy. I did a lot of dancing and air guitar as the little sister. I am so glad we had such talented musicians to listen to. This brings back great memories! To my brother “it’s been such a long time” I will see you again!!!! To those that are sad and depressed …hang on and keep looking for answers… don’t leave before your time. You are love and love is more powerful than anything. Listen to NDE’s ..they are amazing. We are here for a purpose!!! You can find beauty and joy again. 😘

So grateful I saw Brad Delp sing this live. Drove 6 hrs. to Detroit to see them kickass in concert. Thanks. To the person who requested this, hang in there, I try to look at it this way, in life, some have it better than me, and some have it worse, and to focus on the latter more. Depression can be horrible. Anxiety is just as bad when ya have both. Hang in there, many of us suffer with it.

Boston is definitely on another level. They had one of the most famous and best selling debut albums of all time, and the second one is almost as good. The band leader, Tom Sholtz, is a perfectionist who did all his own mixing and built a special effects guitar. The lead singer, Brad Delp, had one of the most joyful voices in rock history, but sadly succumbed to depression himself as he aged.

I've always said how lucky I was to grow up in the 70's.
We were spoiled with all the music that was out there. These were the days when everyone listened to the radio. No matter where you were there'd be a radio on.
I remember listening to my transistor radio under the covers at night when I was supposed to be sleeping.
    They were simpler days.
This was before internet , computers , iPods , video games , and even videos . People walked around with a radio in their hands. Who could blame us , with all that great music playing.
People of my generation also knew how special Saturday mornings were , but that's for another time.
    Such great memories.
Love your reactions and I can see how in awe you are of the older music. It's nice to see a young person enjoy our music.
    Peace.

Whatever you’re going thru, we are here and we understand the way other people can be closed minded.
It’s your musical journey, have fun with it. When you love music, you’ve got a friend for life. You can turn to music when you feel some type of way....music can soothe your soul, uplift you, carry you and push you forward. Rock on 🤘😎❤️
Feelin Satisfied- that’s my fav Boston, but I loved these guys and saw them live- so good.In real time, we had a radio or jukebox or somebody’s stereo on all the time....so many great songs, just rollin out one after another. We are blessed to see generations going back and listening because talent is the common denominator with our “ old” music.

The Mid portion of the intro is like a travel into space where the Rocket launcher deploys its Hubble into Orbit. This is so much more than a song, but an experience, like a Live Concert in Space and everyone is invited. I Love This Music and what I must say, is that Musicians of back in the day whether it be soul, or pop, and rock music, took such pride in their musical master pieces that they put out. It's beautiful this is what touches humanity. It's not white or black, red, pink, yellow or brown music. This is humanity

It's incredible to watch your reaction to this song. It was the same reaction all of us back in the day had, when this album came out! What's more incredible, is that when record companies heard demo's for this album and the demo's sounded nearly like the album, record companies refused to sign Boston to a record contract! What did we do back in the day, when all this music was coming out? Our internet back then was music magazines, reading to see when bands were going to put out a new album and listening to the radio, to hear new music. Then, spending hours in record stores, thumbing through all the vinyl records. It was great time to grow up!

Love your reaction, and you are right, we had great music back then in '76 I was 28yo. (I'm 73 years young, and still have guitars I bought new in 1964, Martin, Gibson, Fenders) and when I first heard this album, (and you MUST listen to the entire album), I knew it would be in the R&R HOF !! This album was entirely the idea and work of one man. Tom Scholz, and MIT grad in Electrical Engineering, who quit his job at Polaroid, (I think), built his own brand of guitar electronics ("Rockman", I still have a vast array of Rockman units on my Rig to this day, cause you can't sound like BOSTON without, a Rockman "Sustainer") and single-handed played all instruments and recorded this in his basement - not a studio. (his BASEMENT)
He did get Brad Delp's help on the vocals (another genius idea) - but all the rest was Scholz. He didn't pull a band together until after the album came out and he realized he needed to start touring. He is a freaking genius !! His interview is on The Tube, right now. So when you get your guitar START PLAYING and don't give up on it !! Play from your heart, you'll do fine !! Keep up the good work.

LB... Know what...I really appreciate hearing what people your age think of our music. I think we all knew we had amazing music but I think we took it for granted at times. Looking back (70's) I really am thankful I got to listen to that music first hand.
But hearing reactions from you and others... really makes my day... thank you!
And yeah... the 70's was king an l as far as rock goes and 1977, in my opinion was THEE BEST...Boston was king in 1977!!!
Enjoy traveling through the 70's you won't be disappointed 😁😁😁

The '70s was hands down the best decade for rock and roll music, there was something for everyone. If we really liked a song we bought the album and/or drove the DJs crazy with request. It was an awesome time to be a teenager.

Sometimes I would sit in my Dads truck, even when snow was coming down, just listening, waiting for my favorite songs to play. Daydreaming that I could do what they did.

This music is the soundtrack of our lives if you were lucky enough to be around when this came out, 1976.....I wonder if today's music will still have the same nostalgic coolness after 40+ years.

I definitely recommend you check out more from Boston, they have so many great songs. The whole album this song came from is awesome. Probably their best work. Their later stuff didn't reach the same success except for with true Boston fans.
    * Don't worry about being "too deep". That's exercising your mind & soul, that makes you stand out. Be yourself. ✌❤👊

During the mid 70s to early 80s, I watched very little tv and was usually in my bedroom. Even when doing homework the music was playing either through the speakers or my headphones. Me and my generation witnessed the debut albums of many great artists: Eagles, Steely Dan, Styx, Heart, Doobie Brothers, Boston, Rush, Foreigner, Toto, Journey, Van Halen, Fleetwood Mac, Ambrosia, and The Police - just to name a few. Before MTV, before VH1, there were Burt Sugarman's Midnight Special, Don Kirchner's Rock Concert, American Bandstand, Soul Train, and Soundstage. On top of that, we also listened to acts from the 50s and 60s. Many of us listened Top 40, rock, pop, and r & b. The music was always playing both at home and on the road. So, we listened every chance we got and still listen now to try to get to everything. It's great to know that this music brings you joy, too! Keep up the great reactions James!

I enjoyed this reaction. I could tell by your face you were thoroughly enjoying Boston. I think that’s why people want you to listen to their suggestions- we know there is so much great original music yet to hear.

This kind of music is WHY we were happier back then. We didn't listen to songs that made us mad. Music was something to enjoy, put you in a good mood, pick you up if you were down, jam with your friends, or jam alone. It was a good time anytime you played music. And you could play music just about any time, so we generally were happier people as a result of it.

Awesome, spectacular, amazing arrangement, multiple blended guitars and incredible vocals! Wow, I've been watching you for at least a couple years now, and I was just sure you had done Boston. Well, you're in for a MASSIVE treat! You MUST do More Than A Feeling (their most popular song and my favorite), Don't Look Back, Peace Of Mind, and Amanda! You will receive more musical nirvana than you can contain! ❤️✌🏻✌🏻❤️

When you want to float, forget yourself for a short time, Boston, in the dark, loud, on headphones, is like a sonic pool. Peace, for a time. If you love it now, try it sometime, alone, in the quiet hours, and lose yourself in it for a while.

Fascinating story about how Boston was formed. Thomas Scholz, the guitarist, engineer, song writer of the band, did not even have the band formed when he sold his demo to the record company. Amazing story.

You have a Very Wise family, JBLETHAL. I love watching your reactions to "my" music from the '60s and '70s....it brings back memories -- some are painful -- and takes me back to a whole different place. But even the painful memories have become less "traumatic" over time. Time does keep on rolling and what seems like the most important thing in the world today will always be replaced by something more important in the future. Keep on enjoying and soaking in all of this beautiful music. It will all serve you well in the years to come....trust me....💖 🌟💫💛

The lead singer is Brad Delp. He was one of the Top vocalists of the seventies & Eighties. Unfortunately, he took his own life. Depression is a hard thing to deal with.🥲
