Hey Maggie, you should definitely check out the title track from Boston's 2nd album, "Don't Look Back"
How did he get up there? He's Brad Delp, that's how. React to literally any of their songs, because they don't have a bad one. This is one of the hottest debut albums of all time - blew us out of the water as teens.
Just pick any Boston tune from that list you gave at the beginning. You could start with Foreplay/Longtime but everything they do is great and special. Hitch a Ride will change your life. I'm so glad you have discovered Tom Scholz and Boston!
@LadyIarConnacht it's sad that he'd unalived himself, though
Did you notice that the "UFOs" on the album cover are actually guitars?
A band like BOSTON comes around only once in a lifetime.
love them
Luckily for me it was when I was 12.
An album like Boston only comes out once. The sheer perfection… unmatched
Same with Lil Wayne!
@@horaceball5418 Fo'shizzle
No Autotune on the 70's, just pure talent and skill, best band ever
Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY needs to watch Rick Beato break this song down from start to finish to truly appreciate the depth of genius involved. The first time he isolated Brad Delp's voice I burst into tears. RIP Brad, sadly missed.
💯 💔
A man need a link!
Ha! I posted the same thing before I read your comment. And you are correct about Brad Delp!
lol was about to comment, but thanks for this shoutout 😀 Just wanted to add that (according to Ric Beato), Brad still continues with his vocals tho they are drowned by the lead guitar ... only after isolating the vocals from the rest of the instruments will we get to hear it ... RIP Brad (also love his "til' our love comes back around" when he was with RTZ)
Rick Beato is the SHIT!!
I love that guy.
17 years old, sleeping over at a friend's house, getting high, then he asks me, " Have you ever heard of Boston?" I said "You mean the city?" He puts the album on and OH MY GOD!! My first truly mesmerizing experience in my life. Every song was amazing and that sound was completely different from what was on the radio. I'll never forget it.
Same experience, but I was 13 late 1979. I'll never forget it!
Foreplay/Longtime is another MUST listen by Boston. Actually the entire first album is fantabulous!
I knew that suggestion was coming. 😏
I agree that this should be her next listen. And yeah, I would be hard pressed to recommend a better album to listen to in full.
YAAASSSS!!❤❤❤
Foreplay is the first metal song IMO
@@metal-adjacent Nah man that album was released in '75. Sabbath, Zeppelin and Deep Purple had all done their best work by then. It's great but not the first anything
It brings a tear to my eye when I realize we'll never have new music like what we had from '65 to '80. This was one of the best albums ever.
Word.
No doubt. Do you remember hearing this and other excellent tunes back in high school for the first time? Cruising with a friend who has a new tape or going to a party at someone's house or at the gravel pit or just at work hearing it coming on the radio for the first time. I didn't know how good we had it back then but so glad to have this as part of the audio wallpaper of my younger days.
@@dso227 Sounds just like my story!
Agreed...best eras...and if like to add the 90s too
Hours from now, drivers on the freeway are blown away as Maggie Renee passes them, windows open, in full throat, howling along with Tom Scholz!!
Wish i was there 😂
Brad Delp 😎
And just like that I'm back in my teenage days again. Thanks for the reminder Magee.
Brad Delp was the lead vocalist Tom Scholz played all of the instruments except the drums on the debut album
I do it
This is a masterpiece of epic proportions. This entire song was recorded in Tom Schultz basement. He played all the instruments and Brad delp banged out the vocals. There are no spaces in this all spaces are filled from
The vocal doubling to the hand claps. He was an absolute prodigy!!!
More Than A Feeling is one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded.
The riff also inspired the biggest rock song of the 90s.
Brad Delp, the legend with a voice that only comes once in a millennium !!! RIP Brad, you are the GOAT!!!!!!
You will not find a bad song on this amazing debut album
To this day II still say that Boston is the only band I have ever heard that never had a bad song! I love this band so very much. I loved this album when I was a kid. I love it now that I'm almost 60 years old. I still have all their original al;bums I bought when I was in school and I have worn out countless tapes of this band. RIP Brad Delp, so sad but his legacy lives on and always will!
As I like to say, you could confidently build a bomb shelter out of this album. That’s how utterly solid it is.
I was going to say something to that effect. All of the songs from this album, to this day, can still be heard on the radio. The best debut album of all. IMO.
It is arguably the greatest debut LP of all time. There are others than compete, but it's probably the greatest. AND, this is the opening song!
Top 10 best albums all time
Tom Scholz graduated from MIT. He’s brilliant. Some of the effects on Boston’s recordings he designed himself. He did everything on the first album except play drums and sing. Brad Delp, the singer, did all the vocal parts himself.
The equipment he makes is still used today.
A key device was a “power soak,” which let him get the sound of an amp cranked up without destroying the neighbors.
@@jmolony31And was used extensively on the Def Leppard album Hysteria. Also, Alice In Chains used it too.
The Rockman is iconic.
Tom was also an engineer for Polaroid.
I love that you listened to this… This was the power ballad of my generation. Boston, Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, Peter Frampton the memories come flooding back. Glad you enjoyed it! ❤❤❤
Boston, light years ahead of their time.
It was the voice that went up there simultaneously with the guitar
When Brad hits that ultra high note in the end chorus!😮 He's up in the nosebleed section!!
"Such beautiful music...." What else can you say?! Our band started in Boston in 1976. We got this, gathered around the turntable, and stood there with our jaws on the floor wondering what in the world we were listening to!?!? Sheer beauty....
From the best rock debut album ever. When you have some personal time, I suggest playing the whole album. You will not be disappointed. ❤❤❤
Arena Rock perhaps. But Black Sabbath on line 1, changed the music industry forever. Both in the Top 5 though.
I'd say Can't Buy a Thrill or The Doors were even better.
Boston is one of those bands that just has an awesome clean sound.
I am so fortunate to have been in college in the late 70's/early 80's and was able to enjoy this type of music when it was just being created. Excellent rock, clean sounds, beautiful harmonies, powerful yet melodic, and bands that could actually sound like their albums when playing live! I never saw Boston live, but I did see Zeppelin, Heart, Queen, and others.
I jammed to this song as a 13 yr old in 1976 on my Mom's Girard turntable while she was at work. I later learned you could hear the music 2 houses down...LOL Brad Delp was the most underrated Rock singer ever, I think. He reached notes that were off the scale. His voice blends with the guitars, making it hard to distinguish if it's him or the guitar. The notes, melody, and rhythm are true artistry. And the lyrics...wow. I think every guy can relate to some girl they used to know. Music and smell can teleport me back to those days. The music of Boston's "More than a Feeling" does that. The smell of a cigar brings me back to riding in the car down the highway with my Dad listening to Herb Alpert's album, "Whipped Cream"....timeless.
Rest In Peace, Original Boston Lead Singer Brad Delp . . . He Was 1 F'n Amazing Singer . . .
R.I.P. Brad Delp . . . :-o
RIP Brad Delp.... He was a truly amazing singer. Sorely missed....
We love when young (and talented) people love our music from our childhood! ❤
I just love watching a young person appreciating the music I grew up with and they wonder why older people think modern music sucks ! Cheers from New Zealand
I listened to this masterpiece for the first time in 1976 and can honestly say it changed my life. This album was wayyy ahead of its time.
You just heard one of the best songs ever produced, ever.
One of the greatest songs ever from one of the greatest albums ever. Been listening to this for 48 years and it just never gets old.
Instantly fell in love w/ this song from the radio back in the day (1976-77) and is still one of my favorites of all time.
Boston and Kansas sustained me through my high school years. The talent and musical genius from both groups was amazing! Thanks for the reaction Maggie.
Likewise! But so many more...it astounds me that we were blessed with such great music in the 70s.
Bostons “A Man I’ll Never Be” is a favorite.
Everything you said (and felt!) is why EVERYONE bought this album! Loved your reaction!!
Bostons first album is a masterpiece. Every song is a stand alone masterpiece.
I’m a 40 yr old guy and I’m so thankful my dad was a drummer in a rock band all throughout the 1970’s. He and my mom introduced me to “classic” rock. I became a drummer myself. Rock is my favorite genre to listen to and play as well. This band, this album will never go out of style. IMHO.
Growing up in the 70-80s was the bomb.
The best of times. Let's cherish the fact our eyes saw those blessed years 👆
I saw them in Spokane in 1979. It was such a great show! RIP Brad, you left us too soon.
Brad Delp vocals are off the chain and Toms ear for recording and guitars are second to none
Imagine how we felt as 16 year olds here in this for the very first time 😮❤😂
How many others also still have the original album?
their debut album is pure fire, every song is amazing.
Wow, your reaction was sooooo great! It’s awesome to see someone discover and appreciate the musical brilliance of Boston!!! Thank you ❤️
Boston guitarist Tom Scholz was an M.I.T. trained engineer. He designed and built his own guitar effects and rewired his amps to achieve that distinctive "Boston" guitar sound and tone.
The handoff from vocals to guitar is sublime.
Forty eight years ago...almost half a century. Welcome to our generation (boomers) of real music. Very pleased to see how well you understand the caliber. I think you're spot on.
Music doesn't get better than this. Best song ever. 🎸🎤🥁
I saw them in 1979 on their "Don't Look Back" tour. It was FANTASTIC! Yeah, I'm old but grew up listening to great music such as this. 😂
Saw them on the same tour and it was amazing! Delp’s voice live was incredible as well. Such a great era for rock ‘n roll!
I got that T-Shirt!!
One of my favorite bands & songs ever! Boston is incredible
they didn't need to REMASTER it it's a pop/rock masterpiece one of a few songs I don't get tired of listening to⚛😀
For me this is the ultimate rock anthem.
Brad is one of the most severely underrated vocalists of all time.
Have a great day!
Not at all. Considered one of the greatest after Mercury.
Not remotely underrated
When I was 16 I used to work at the local Civic Center Arena and I got to meet them in person after the show. They are my go to band late at night when I want to take off and get lost in the music. Almost 50 years later and still sounds great.
It is amazing how many young people today are discovering music from my generation of 50 years ago.
It is amazing but in a way they’re forced to because the music of today sucks. Nothing is real anymore. And the lyrics are degrading and foul.
True. @@Juamo-tn8we
Brad Delp's lead vocals on More Than A Feelin are incomparable and a Brad Delp's voice was a huge part of Boston's success along with Tom Shulz. I was 9 yrs old when that song & I really so very much enjoy seeing & hearing any young person really enjoying & appreciating hearing a Classic Treasure & Maggie Renee is so cute mimicking guitar parts & being so enthusiastic about the song.
This band led by Tom Scholtz , who recorded this whole album in his basement , and I believe played every instrument himself , and the vocal where done by his friend Brad Delph, one the greatest singers on the planet
Brad Delp
@anthonyhaylock6655 Not quite. All of Brads vocals were recorded at Capital Studios Studio C by producer John Boylan sans the vocals on Let Me Take You Home a song that was written by Brad and recorded in its entirety at The Record Plant LA by the band as pictured on the back of the record. Tom did not play all of the instrument tracks, Sib plays drums on every track except Rock and Roll Band and Jim Masdea plays on that song.
I can not stop listen this song, is mind blowing!!!
This was recorded by 2 people. Tom played all the instruments, Brad did all the vocal tracks. Unbelievable talent.
Jim Masdea played drums on “Rock and Roll Band”. He later replaced Sib Hashian as the band’s drummer.
I forgot to mention: Mr. Masdea also claims to have helped Mr. Scholz compose the songs that ended up on the debut album. Mr. Masdea hasn’t proved that claim, but his testimony is compelling evidence for it.
The opening guitar melody is probably the most recognizable ever !
I LOVE this song and band, but I'd put the guitar open to "Sweet Child O' Mine" above it. Honestly, the fade in makes it a perfect song to use as your alarm, but I found myself not liking this song as much so I had to remove it as my alarm. Lol
Tom Scholz in addition to being a musician is also an MIT trained engineer and he created the Rockman guitar device that gives Boston its unique sound. He recorded, edited and produced the first album in his basement. He spent years of time crafting that first album. 😮
I am very lucky t to have grown up in the time when I listened to the music of the 50's 60's and 70's!
It's really fun to see young people discover my old fogie music and dig it the way we all used to when we were your age! I saw Boston live on tour for this album in 1976...they were touring with Kansas!! I can assure you that the musicianship was top notch and Mr. Delp did in fact hit every note without cheating or sliding or wavering. Nearly every song on the first two albums is an anthem...I understand Scholtz is kind of an ass, but he sure was smart and talented.
1978 Tarrant County Convention Center, one of the best live shows I've ever seen. Us 70s kids lived the Golden Age of live music!
This is a song that have connected to so many stages throughout my life.Great reaction, vocals are great guitar work, all around production, this song hits my heart in many ways. "And dream of a girl, I used to know."🎉🎉 This song is definitely more than a feeling, thank you for reacting to it.
Incredibly awesome tune with fantabuous vocals.
3:13, yes it switches to the guitar but Brad Delp ALSO sings a high "ah" sound there in the background. So much layering... so genius!
Makes me happy. Songs from my youth. Peace, Love!!
You have to listen to this entire album from start to finish. All hits.
Not all hits, but definitely all hit-caliber.
At 2:56 she states surprise at his range, and I’m thinkin’ “Just you wait!!”
Was fortunate enough to see them in concert 2x very grateful
Great reaction! Think that this came out in 1976, and no one had heard anything like that before - it still sounds great today. This was the first single, and it blew people's minds. The debut album had so many amazing songs on it. They never topped it, but the bar was set impossibly high.
I love watching these youngsters hearing great 70s music for the first time! I was a teenager, it was the best era for rock!
I was 9 or 10 and it was 1976/77 and I would fall asleep every night listening to the radio and hearing so much stuff, More Than A Feeling was on every night.
Maesto, you are listening to one of the BEST Rock voices who NO ONE talks about. ALOHA!
Nothing I enjoy more than listening to those that can sing amazingly. I want so bad to do that!
The most underrated leadvocalist there is ...
He’s pretty much universally regarded as one of the top two or three vocalists in rock n roll history. He’s not remotely underrated.
Anything from Boston playlist is great. I personally like seeing them perform. Thanks 👍😎
You are gorgeous!! Your dark hair and beautiful eyes... Plus you can sing! You humble me.
Very sweet. Hope to see you on my live stream in 30 minutes! 😀
This tune is pretty much perfect as songs go..saw Boston twice back in the 70s, n that last note Brad delp sang unbelievable flat live..im sure his voice was wrung out after singing every nite back then
The guitar was centered on Brad Delp's voice. Brad had perfect pitch. When he hit that high note the guitar either carried it thru or went one note higher. Back when they recorded this music there were other bands that used similar techniques.
Fun to see you feeling it.... It's more than that.... Brad Delp had one of the most incredible voices ever.... I once saw them live and it sounded just like the album.... Tom Sholtz was one of the best engineers ever!
Boston Third Stage… YES!!! that’s my childhood there!!! ❤️
This is that song that picks up your downward feeling from a long 8,10 or even 12hr workday or long 5hr drive from a cross state trip and you feel so good and happy in life. A mood changer indeed. From 😑 to 😆 good feels, you know?
This whole album kicks ass! My brother got this album on 8-track when I was seven and I never get tired of listening to it. In fact, the CD is in my truck now.
The good news....that entire album is worth gold reaction.
This is Real Music. Never gets old
Best reaction ever to one of my all time favorite bands from back in the day.
First time I heard this song around 1983 I could swear it was done by computers because no song could be this perfect. Not a huge Boston fan, but these types of perfect songs are extremely rare.
Ya won't be seeing anyone singing this at a karaoke bar.
Dude you'd be surprised 😊
Love your reaction. I saw Boston back in the 1970's at a concert. OMG!!! It was awesome
During my high school days this was played on my eight track in my Camaro while driving through town with my various girlfriends. What a time to be alive and experience everything right with the world.
Congratulation. You have enjoyed something that I've loved for over 40 years.
Keep in that’s a man making his voice go that high. Truly legendary
There is voice in with the guitar singing ahhhh… it almost harmonizes with the guitar it’s a cool trick and makes it sound like he’s carrying the note even longer
This is the most 80's of all 80's songs! Sweet memories.
You are right about that!😀
Lmao!!! I've never seen you so lively for any song! Boston is outrageously awesome! You're going to love you music journey with them.
I have to react to you! I love how you are feeling the vibe that only Boston can show you! Inspirational, uplifting, blue jeans, white T-shirt kinda band! Bad ass , one of a kind, rock n roll music!
This song has the greatest individual guitar note in history. It's the d/E bend towards the end. Subjective but arguably true.
Oh and also, seeing the original band in 1980 was EPIC. I got to see them later on in 2015!!!
There is so much excellent BOSTON out there ❤
Because I have heard the song many times I take for granted of Brad's vocals. It has to be one of the best feel good songs I know.
Boston never could sound like this album live. Read how this album was made. Amazing what Tom did
Your nuts, I heard this song live and it was almost indistinguishable from the album
BS
