Wow this sounds amazing. I want to get a BMW just because of how the b58 sounds
I remember seeing this car bone stock and remember talking too you about it before I even owned the car glad too see how far you’ve come 💯💪🏽
wow this sounds so much better without burbles all the time
Sounds good. Have you coded out the burbles? To be honest I think it sounds better without them, constant pops is not good, occasional/unexpected pops that occur naturally is what I want 🙂
I have MHD stage 2 so I turned burble duration down to 0. They were fun but it eventually it just got embarrassing to drive around once I got some exhaust work done and they were ridiculously loud 😂
@@mevans8646 haha yeah even those quiet factory burbles get pretty loud and in your face when you change the DP and take out some resonators!
@@richardkillian5657 yup, currently I have the stage 2 multimap on so I can just turn the burbles back on from the wheel if I choose to. The “OEM” style setting in MHD is actually far less aggressive than the actual OEM burbles so if I’m feeling a little spicy I turn them on sometimes. Stock burbles with the exhaust work often sounded like gunshots 😂
hell no i have my burbles set to 2s .. u only hear it mainly in sport when u wanna have fun .. y would u take them off
Love it !!
Hey what mic do you have and where did you put it? I made a mic pov for my car but ion think my mic can handle the decibels of the car
I have these mics plugged into the Zoom H4Essential audio recorder, sticking out the trunk and taped to my rear bumper.
amzn.to/45tBeyv
That sounds awesome! Could you maybe show us how it sounds with the oem burbles turned on?🙌🏼
I had burbles off for this video because they blow out the mic really badly 😂
What a sound! ❤ Is Just stage 2?
Yup, just stage 2!
Sounds like your Active Sound Design is on, or am I wrong?
This is only external audio
Nice! 👍
No unbearable drone on highways or cruising?
Nope. I’m pretty sensitive to drone for some reason, and there’s still basically none with this setup. There is a tad bit more then stock but I’m sure most people wouldn’t even notice it.
Just picked up a 2017 version of this exact car and have mods on order. You’ve been a huge help! Could you please please share your audio recording set up for this video?
Congrats on the car! I just plugged in a cheapo Amazon lav mic to my camera with a really long cord, and I hung the mic wrapped in a microfiber towel out the back of my trunk above the exhaust. Very low budget production lol
@@mevans8646 thanks man! It sounds great either way!
My B58 has dual res delete with catless downpipw combine with M performance muffler. Sometimes I hate the sound cruising in comfort mode.. I don’t know what is it but it only sounds good in sport +
The B58 MPE doesn’t have a valve as far as I’m aware, so it really shouldn’t sound any different between modes. Do you have the active sound design (fake engine noise through speakers) enabled? That’s the only other way there’d be a difference.
@@mevans8646 its not the comfort mode but I think the dual res delete is harsch sometimes with XHP on comfort.. cause it shift slow and the resonators make it bad sometimes
@@mevans8646 I think I found it. I have the VRSF downpipe and this kind of flex joint on the downpipe is known to become loose overtime. I'm pretty sure this is the problem. At low speed in comfort mode I can here a (TTSSSSSS) when changing gears...makes it terrible
@@luigitouchette421 how did you fix it?
@@mevans8646 havent yet, just need time to look at it
What mic did you use if i may ask?
I used these plugged into a Zoom H4Essential audio recorder amzn.to/3W9RAJK
What mic are you using?
Cheap LAV mic off Amazon sticking out of my trunk 🤷♂️
Sounds great. unrelated question: how do you get the HP and LB-FT display on the center screen? Do you know of a way to get something engine temp, oil temp, or oil pressure on there?
Those are just hidden somewhere deep in the menus in the iDrive system. And there’s no customization to it unfortunately, it’s always just an estimate of horsepower and torque. I keep it up there for videos just for visual effect lol
@@mevans8646 so that's not some aftermarket/third party thing? do you have any idea how to find it? any help would be great, thanks!
@@afxjzs go to my vehicle > technology in action > sports displays
If it’s not there, you’ll have to code it in which is a pretty simple DIY with BimmerCode - th-cam.com/video/GPGhZWdfga4/w-d-xo.html
All of this info can be found with a quick google or TH-cam search 😉
@@mevans8646 Found it... finally. Had to unlock it. thanks so much for the help, man!
I'm curious about the MHD, is it able to have the overrun from a m2 when lifting at high rpm?
Are those cracks/pops on shifting stock or also with MHD?
Thank you
This is with MHD and burbles turned to zero. The crack on liftoff did happen on stock tune (I think that’s only an M-Lite thing, not on a 340/440) but in this video it’s the MHD short brap
@@mevans8646 Thank you !
Only 91 octane with a Stage 2 tune? Is that not bad for the pump/engine? And is there ethanol added in the US?
I'm European, here we only have 95 (e10), 98 (e5) and 102 in some spots.
93 octane not 91. However our octane measurements are different that in Europe so I think that’s technically equivalent to your 98. So it’s not bad for the engine. We sell ethanol but depending on the region it can be hard to find. Like near me there’s only one place and it’s 30+ minutes away so I don’t bother running it.
Better skip ethanol then haha it only messes with ur car. Except for E85, that's a different story.@@mevans8646
Does your transmission whine under heavy load or with the AC on ?
Only under full throttle from a dig. After 10-20mph it stops, and any other driving there’s nothing.
@@mevans8646 thanks a lot
Does the cat block turbo noises? what should i change if i want a raw engine note?
Any exhaust mods will free up some turbo noise but a catless downpipe would probably help the most.
. Adding an aftermarket intake also helps with turbo noise and overall engine note
@@mevans8646 thanks!
what kind of exhaust mine has only a downpipe
Check my previous video for exterior clips, dual resonator delete and Active Autowerke catted downpipe
Is this with the MHD brap feature?
Yup, on the short setting
stock muffler?
Yup
What’s the mic setup?
A $20 Amazon LAV mic sticking out of the trunk lid beneath my license plate and wrapped in a microfiber towel for wind noise lol
stock turbo?
Yup! Just MHD stage 2
Wya I got the exact same car estoril blue too
I’m in MA
