Blood does not stay that red, looks like someone splattered red paint around to give creepy feel. Real blood would be brown. Cool place, too bad folks can't just look around, never understood the needs to smash windows or destroy something just cuz it's abandoned.
some of it was paint(the really red stuff)...but the carpet going up the stairs was real blood and so was the carpets upstairs. Also the mattress in that garage was full of blood stains.
I was referring to the bright red stains, however, since ya brought the other stains up, how do you know, did you have it tested? There is no way of saying a stain on an old mattress or carpet is blood from a video nor really in person with out a test. Could be other bodily fluids, pop, mud and various other things. The scratches on the door, I would assume is from training a K9 unit, since they said it is used for Police training.
Jarret hmmm. I’m not to far away from this place. Maybe I’ll contact the owner and get permission to metal detect, and see for the both of us if that gold coin rumor is true...
Just did a quick Google search on this property... It was bought for $800K in Sept. 2017. Hopefully that means someone is going to fix it up. It's got 40 rooms, 11 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. It would make a beautiful B&B or Inn.
If the man who owned it went to jail for drugs and the whole house was taken by the government or something, they should hire people to run this place and give our homeless veterans a place to live, if anyone deserves a mansion it's them !!
@@brrjohnson8131 Its so sad when so many people could benefit from a home, or even a room, just 4 walls and a roof is so much comfort to so many people !!! Wish someone could do something to get the government to do what I suggested!!!

Still such a beautiful home. I would love to have seen it before it's obvious demise. It's so sad that juveniles and drug heads feel the need to break things and write on the walls. The woodwork around the doors and the floors, the fixtures - very beautiful.
Update for anyone who is curious: Jake Butcher died in July 2017 at the age of 81. He'd been out of prison for a number of years at that point. The house was so massive that upkeep and utilities for it were estimated to be over $20,000 every month- not sure if this refers to back in the 80s or what it would cost currently. It sold for $799,000 in Sept 2017. Hey CarpetBagger! I love the weird stuff you throw in your suitcase at the beginning of each episode. Could we have a video on those objects and how you came to find them? Best Regards,
This home was most likely purchased for the back taxes by then local police department. Due to the HOME'S size and massive layout it provides a perfect training site. Still, for a home that has been left alone, this property is in truly tremendous condition. I have seen homes left empty that in less then a week have been reduced to studs and ruble. There are obviously neighbors nearby and this has prevented a full on destruction of the home. Any area, anywhere in this country has residents who lack respect and any sort of decency towards others and these same people thrive on destruction. Still, this property is clearly not fully 'abandoned'.
My New home has high value, but we were suprised nobody hadn't already bought it. Nobody had bought it because some vandal had broken in while the house was still empty, and has broken the walls. So, once we moved in, we re-did the whole place.

Any realtor would tell you the only value to that property is the land that it sits on. It is literally what's known as a "tear down". I lived in the 80s as well and I miss the glamout sparkle shine and happiness that seemed to be everywhere. Movie stars WERE because they. deserved it and Singers/musicians had to be able to SING and WRITE not be porn stars and supermodels w electronic voice overs to be successful. Video Killed the radio star.
Wendy Pippin-Yarberry actually you’re wrong there. That was an option. The cost to tear it down is not worth it, unless a MUCH smaller home were built. The thing is it has good bones, just needs someone with lots of money. I can only hope the new owners have enough. Also, “the land” was subdivided. The river view, not so much due to the houses built in front of it.
You really deserve more subs. As a person who really enjoys adventure and abandoned things (and I also love the south!) I find this channel really interesting.
Yah its real efed up! U know what the poverty rate is in our country? This place could house alot of people n families. Turn something bad to something good n positive. Just sayin
Horrible idea. Someone still owns this place. They'd have to pay to fix it... Pay to heat it... Pay for water... You're asking a person to pay more so someone else can use the thing g they own but aren't using.
Funny, for forty years, unmolested, and now, stupid is as stupid does. Butcher ripped a lot of us Tennesseans off, the east TN way. Today that same crew ripping off the whole state from border to border. It's not Butcher folks screw doing this. It's just a piece of property. Well made mansion, just 1970s insulated. Jacob your the best visual story teller ❤
It wouldn't take much to repair the place, The bones are still good, the commodities are still in good shape although I would still replace them and it doesn't have too many broken windows. I would say a good five to ten thousand would do the job IF you do it yourself.
ShastaHawk No judgement.. I'm sure you're a teenager. But let me tell the facts of money... You said $5 to $10 grand? LITERALLY just to have that LAWN MOWED ONCE would cost you 5 to 10 grand. No joke. (Show that video to your nearest real estate broker if you don't believe me) You can't buy a good used car for that. A 5 year old pickup in good condition will cost you 15 to $20,000. You wouldn't be able to fix the bidèt in the bathroom for $5 to $10 grand.. (a bidèt btw is what that silly looking toilet w no lid beside the toilet is called) It's not your post that bothers me so much, as the 23 thumbs up you got. Seriously, 23 people aren't all teenagers. Teenagers are still being taught. The adults who think what you said has any basis in reality have no excuse to be ignorant. "People who don't know what how to think will think anything u tell them to" (and "ShastaHawk" is a such a cool name you are just click bait too! Love it. Keep it. ) Keep dreaming though
He wasn't talking about fully upgrading it or daily maintenance.$10,000 in supplies would probably be enough to get it inhabitable. Someone your age should be better at comprehending English.
Even if you do it yourself you’re looking at $140-150,000 EASY just to get it where you cloud sleep in one bedroom, have one bathroom, and a partially functioning kitchen. If the home had not been trashed by shitbags it would be cheaper but there is way too much clean up work that has to be done.
Great video Carpetbagger, keep up the great work and I'm sure that you're much happier doing what you are now compared to what you were doing with the social work! Wishing you all the best :)
Sharon Looney I totally agree with you, but teenagers and salvagers don’t care about that. Which is fair enough I guess. If I found a nice table or lighting fixture or anything that I would appreciate myself, I’d take it as long as nobody else is appreciating it. That’s why I love finding old abandoned homes. If the owners are nonexistent, and there’s a nice antique radio, television, war bring-back, bottle, etc, I’m rescuing that. It’s not worth leaving it for an owner who doesn’t care about it just because it’s technically “their property” while they live in a town over in their middle class home. Plus, you’d be surprised how often you can track down the original owners who had to abandon it, or their family at least. I’ve returned family photos, diplomas, heirlooms, books, jewelry, and even an entire project- motorcycle the guy was building in the 70s when he was subsequently forced from his home. He’s since finished the bike he started 50 years ago.
All the homeless people who need some places to live. Could make a deal, clean fix stuff up in return for a roof over there head. When it's done maybe do it again some were else

@@cxxxrose I'll definitely come there...There are so many abandoned towns in the US. I need it also coz I like calm cool silent places...coz I want to sleep well and take enough rest
It sucks that places like this can't be used because of financial reasons. We need more places for people to live. It's crazy how many abandoned places are left to rot when they're already able to be fixed up and used. I love watching people explore them though.
This place still can be revived..It's doable.. Terrible...If I had the finances,I'd take it on to refurbish it and bring it new life..I've chased ghosts and spirits away in my day...Good vlog,Jacob.👍😉

Angels Haven I've seen it. that was super scary. I felt so bad for them. did you notice that all the things moving around and noises had led them to the body!
if that was here in Texas about 2 families of Mexicans would move in. one a painter, one electrician, one masonry, one fence builder. fix the whole place up in two weeks. then start moving in ppl with villages of Mexicans
It’s got so much potential the view is amazing but it has a very eerie feeling coldness too it. Don’t mean the obvious because it’s empty and abandoned. But I agree with others comments I would not spend the night there. It seems such a waste with people being homeless. That pool reminds me, of a scene from a Bruce Willis film 🎥 he’s some kind of angel 😇 survives a train crash. He ends up fighting some weird guy in a pool with a cover just like this area.
This makes me wonder what happened to Jake's wife, Sonya. Her mom and dad (the Wildes) lived next door to them and were friends with my dad. They used to fish together out there. They may all be long gone by now, as is my dad.
I remember this place now. Enjoyed watching the video again though. Beautiful house! Shame to see it go to waste and vandalized ! Don't understand the thrill someone gets from destroying something just because it's there. Anyway, great video Jacob!
Claw marks appear more reptile then dog. The "blood" in the bathroom some type of gloss paint, nail varnish would have flaked off in places however looking at the carpet marks they well could be blood when you look closely at the colour and distribution of liquid in each patch
Not likely. There would have been blood stains left on the plaster if they had been punched in. Also, the holes are too big and too rounded to have been made with a fist. There’s also a piece of plaster that was neatly cut out behind one of the holes. The holes were obviously neatly cut with some kind of tool.
spy4863 some of the holes were probably done by inspectors checking for mold between the walls. The others were from vandals. Here’s the problem with this property. It costs $25,000 monthly for utilities alone. The basement was full of mold, and the person who purchased the property did get a “deal”, but they will never be able to get the home back to what it once was. That’s just talking about repairing the interior. The other problem is the single pane windows. The utility bill could be reduced some if they were replaced, but again, huge expense. The pool is ruined and will need completely replaced, and the acreage it sat on has been subdivided. Several homes were built between Whirlwind and the river, and several trees hide the view now. I drive past the home every day on my way to work, and it’s heartbreaking to see the shape it’s in. Oh, all the “claws and blood”...that’s nonsense. There is not, nor has there ever been any “activity” there. The damage was done by punks breaking in to trash the place. The “blood” is stage blood and the claw marks on the door was probably from k-9’s during SWAT training and thanks to the morons who busted the windows I’m sure there is some wildlife that gets in.
Right! Such a shame! Such beautiful pieces of history and then morons have to to come along and destroy it. Although to be fair the house may have already been beyond repair from mold and neglect before the vandals got to it. Do you think so? Either way, it’s such a shame that people would let such a beautiful place fall into disrepair, although, to be fair, maybe they just didn’t have the money for the upkeep. Thanks for the info!
As bad as you guys say the condition is, this is still VERY fixable. The only huge detriment and “danger” is the glass, and the animals and draft let in by the broken windows. The paint isn’t a huge deal, it can just be painted over, windows, while expensive, are easily replaced, put some new wiring in some places, put in a couple bathrooms, and you’ve got yourself a mansion! Hell, this place is great as it is! If I found a squatter in there, I’d be jealous sitting in my new home! And in all reality, lighting and stuff can come later, how do you think they lit entire mansions just a century or two ago? The fireplaces could use a good clean, but are otherwise stable and would work just fine, the stairs have no structural issues at all. Listen, if the swat team is comfortable doing mock ops in this place, shooting blanks and possibly simmunition, all with hundreds of pounds worth of men and equipment, it can’t be that bad. I can do with the graffiti, if I couldn’t remove it. Great video as always!
These vandalizers have nothing better to do than to destroy perfectly fine property. ...kind of annoying to see something beautiful and neatly made just to be destroyed
Zara Muzaffar kind of like some of the bullys on here and their comments. Trashy kids with no home training or trashy parents bringing up useless vandals.
Imagine if all people respected the house and property. It'd be a cool place to hang out and party a little, but most people want to destroy things and make it uninhabitable. Great Vid.
Good title. The only thing the title is missing is the word "poo." If there were blood stains, claw marks and poo, you would have 1 million views easy. And...excellent video as always.
My thoughts on the clawed door are since it was mentioned the SWAT Team used the place as a training ground, part of one of their training could have included the use of I-Dont-know maybe a k-9 unit and it could have been a breaching into a locked room searching for something? Idk just a wild thought! Probably let the k-9 unit run free to get there or something so by the time they got to it he had clawed it up quite a bit but then again it's just a wild guess!
Omg is that a Laffun Head that you’re putting in your suitcase in the beginning? Growing up my aunt had one on her wall that would yodel and spit water. It scared the life out of me. Lol

7:52 when Kyle gets mad when his mom didn’t let him ride the 4 wheeler
Lmmfao 😂😂😂
You really deserve more subs. As a person who really enjoys adventure and abandoned things (and I also love the south!) I find this channel really interesting.
That house is still beautiful!!! I want it
Yes, Im very sad those idiots destroyed it.
"look at the original crown molding"
(That's something I would say) LMFAO
Yah its real efed up! U know what the poverty rate is in our country? This place could house alot of people n families. Turn something bad to something good n positive. Just sayin
That's a great idea
It would cost more money to make this place livable than it would to build a new place. Sharon, you're a moron.
Horrible idea. Someone still owns this place. They'd have to pay to fix it... Pay to heat it... Pay for water... You're asking a person to pay more so someone else can use the thing g they own but aren't using.
I think of that too w/all these abandoned home on TH-cam.
It's not a "poor enough" area for homeless veterans. I'll bet the permit for that would be damn near impossible
Hi 👋 Jacob, Hi Jon. I remember this mansion. Such a shame people that explore it, feel they need to destroy windows, mirrors, cabinetry.
Thanks for the tour I've walked right along beside yall looking at everything, wow sad what a house goes to such a waste see you on the next video
I don't know how I got here, but I like it and am now falling into the hole of weirdness
It wouldn't take much to repair the place, The bones are still good, the commodities are still in good shape although I would still replace them and it doesn't have too many broken windows. I would say a good five to ten thousand would do the job IF you do it yourself.
ShastaHawk
No judgement.. I'm sure you're a teenager.
But let me tell the facts of money... You said $5 to $10 grand?
LITERALLY just to have that LAWN MOWED ONCE would cost you 5 to 10 grand. No joke. (Show that video to your nearest real estate broker if you don't believe me)
You can't buy a good used car for that.
A 5 year old pickup in good condition will cost you 15 to $20,000.
You wouldn't be able to fix the bidèt in the bathroom for $5 to $10 grand..
(a bidèt btw is what that silly looking toilet w no lid beside the toilet is called)
It's not your post that bothers me so much, as the 23 thumbs up you got.
Seriously, 23 people aren't all teenagers. Teenagers are still being taught.
The adults who think what you said has any basis in reality have no excuse to be ignorant.
"People who don't know what how to think will think anything u tell them to"
(and "ShastaHawk" is a such a cool name you are just click bait too! Love it. Keep it. )
Keep dreaming though
He wasn't talking about fully upgrading it or daily maintenance.$10,000 in supplies would probably be enough to get it inhabitable. Someone your age should be better at comprehending English.
@@bob733333 you're a moron. It would cost a lot more than $5-10 grand to get this property in livable shape...
The Destruction is SO Sad!!
Beautiful House!!
I love this. The claw marks, the basement. We don't have basements in the coastal south, those are always very spooky 😳 Thanks 😸
Great video Carpetbagger, keep up the great work and I'm sure that you're much happier doing what you are now compared to what you were doing with the social work! Wishing you all the best :)
Too bad stupid people who destroy others property
Sharon Looney it was abandon not anyone’s property at the time
Keanu Jesus. It doesn’t matter if it is abandoned. If you didn’t buy it, it is not yours, and it is wrong to damage or destroy it.
*their
The homeless are probably the ones who busted the windows and stole the copper wiring.
The really sad thing is those homeless people you are talking about are the ones who screwed it all up in the first place...pretty sad!
True
@@dantolle1344 Naw I'm pretty sure it was those dam young hipsters that be spay painting shit and destroying shit. U dum FUCK.
This place could be so nice. what a waste
I do agree with you
This has to be the creepiest place I have seen you visit! Kept waiting for something to pop out! Another place I thought of is The Richard Petty Museum in Level Cross, NC. Haven’t been yet, but I will soon. Realized recently it is only about 15 minutes away.
So glad I came upon this channel. I love exploring things and museams, esp with a calm intelligent person like this guy
Looks like the grass is kept cut so someone must be maintaining the grounds at least.
John Doe the land owners around
This place would scare the shit out of anyone when it gets dark..
Rahul sharma ikr
It wont scare me, i would pay to spend a night here
all the money in Knoxville why dont someone buy n flip that house before its completely destroyed. i lived in Knoxville for 25yrs and n never knew bout this property.
David Davis I've just ran across this video, I've lived here in Knoxville and never not once seen this property.
Capt. - F/V Invictus there are many of these abandoned places all over the U.S
most of them are left to rot because they mostly in places that are not in a good location.
Outside of population, some in woods etc.
This is actually in Oak Ridge, right beside Melton Hill Lake Park, if it's the place I'm thinking of
Madison Branam where is it located I have lived here all my life And never knew where this was
klmullins65 Anderson County Tenn. Whirlwind mansion
How the hell would you keep a place like this clean??? I can barely keep up with my 650 sq ft apt🤣....guess you'd need maids
Your vids are never clickbait and I’m grateful! I’m never disappointed :)
If I were homeless and new about this house I would live there
Yer take it over as a squatter
Me to
am coming to live in this home from Pakistan, Inshallah
*knew
@@cxxxrose I'll definitely come there...There are so many abandoned towns in the US. I need it also coz I like calm cool silent places...coz I want to sleep well and take enough rest
A lot of people explore that mansion so it wouldn’t be the best place to live
the architecture is amazing
Wow must have been so gorgeous at one time...sad now
It sucks that places like this can't be used because of financial reasons.
The coolest part of the video was the Zeppelin shirt 🤟🏻
sad people can't go into inhabited places and respect them instead of the ruining and trashing it sad and not necessary.
"I think this is a garage" sees garage door 😂
I laughed so hard I woke up the whole house. More videos like this please !
At a time when housing is such an issue for so many. To restore and care for such places would be such a great thing to do
Have you seen the OmarGoshTv vodeo where they did an overnight at a prison and diring the walk thru they actually found a dead body and had to call police. It was def a WOW must see vid. Look it up if u not see yet.
Angels Haven
I've seen it. that was super scary.
And one cook, and one pressure washer, and on housekeeper and one gardener, and one window cleaner, etc etc. . .
Ignorant!!
@@briwhit07 r/wooshhh
It’s got so much potential the view is amazing but it has a very eerie feeling coldness too it. Don’t mean the obvious because it’s empty and abandoned.
But I agree with others comments I would not spend the night there. It seems such a waste with people being homeless.
That pool reminds me, of a scene from a Bruce Willis film 🎥 he’s some kind of angel 😇 survives a train crash. He ends up fighting some weird guy in a pool with a cover just like this area.
I’ve been outside of it, but glad to see what it looked like inside. My dad has seen its glory days, but wish I could. Wish someone could restore it.
This house is gorgeous! It's disgusting to see it just sitting getting destroyed! Why isn't this home on the market?!?
*any stain or splatter*
"Blood!"
*sweat drips*
"I'm bleeding!"
Swat team trained there claw marksnare from k9nunit and blood is probably from red paint rounds
It's so sad to see a beautiful house like that left to rot..
Really sad,the sick mentality of some people never siezes to astound me.
I can’t believe that place wasn’t locked up, amazing you just walked thru the front door like honey I’m home…
This makes me wonder what happened to Jake's wife, Sonya. Her mom and dad (the Wildes) lived next door to them and were friends with my dad. They used to fish together out there. They may all be long gone by now, as is my dad.
Lol that cardio though 🤣😂
His mouth breathing is fucking killing me.
I remember this place now. Enjoyed watching the video again though. Beautiful house! Shame to see it go to waste and vandalized ! Don't understand the thrill someone gets from destroying something just because it's there. Anyway, great video Jacob!
Check behind the wine racks.
Claw marks appear more reptile then dog. The "blood" in the bathroom some type of gloss paint, nail varnish would have flaked off in places however looking at the carpet marks they well could be blood when you look closely at the colour and distribution of liquid in each patch
I just found your channel yesterday and am now a member of your Patreon and have watched bunches of your videos. Thank you for sharing!!
Hey Jacob really enjoyed this vlog .Love from NC
Someone punched the wall repeatedly and left the room with a bloody fist.
Probaby because the dumbass hit a stud lol
I couldn't watch because you keep spinning the camera too fast.
I'm happy to get you back. I really enjoy your videos . God bless you and your family.
Zara Muzaffar true!!
If only someone thought to lock the doors when they left it abandoned. Or purchased a couple cameras for a few hundred bucks.
I wonder how many homeless people have lived here or slept here.
Imagine if all people respected the house and property. It'd be a cool place to hang out and party a little, but most people want to destroy things and make it uninhabitable. Great Vid.
just starting to watch GREAT to know where the place is and about when it was last used great views
He accidentally said "butt blood" 😂😂😂
Roo_ 693 what time?
Are you 12?
Jake Butcher lived long enough to see this video but then died a month after you posted it.
An interesting video would one of Jack watching this video.
Good title. The only thing the title is missing is the word "poo." If there were blood stains, claw marks and poo, you would have 1 million views easy. And...excellent video as always.
+Curoi MacDaire there was crap in the toilet
Curoi MacDaire Funny you say that as there are a million plus views on this now! Lol
Lol
