I think SHADOW COUNTER! is probably more hype than that but I suppose it's a matter of perspective
@@TowerShield_ Shadow Counter isn't nearly as intense to me, but it definitely cuts through when it happens, so I agree with the latter part of your comment haha.

Took Max long enough to take advantage of it though. It's easily possible on reaction, let alone after a match. But Max seems to have gotten quite a bit worse as a player over the years. Not that I haven't, I suck at fighting games now.
@@thenonexistinghero i strongly disagree. that jago player was horrible and is the definition of a one trick pony. it is very hard to play against those players with a competitive mindset. no serious opponent would continue to jump and realizing that your opponent is leagues below what you expect them to be just needs some time to sink in.
@@zoolz8l Doesn't work like that. Someone who sucks at fighting games would get locked out against a pro playing to win. There's nothing bad players can do to surprise a really good player and give them trouble.
@@thenonexistinghero once again i strongly disagree. There is the "idiot mixup". Usually you try to account for your opponents best options (low risk high reward) but trying to cover all options is hard. so if someone keeps going to a high risk low reward option you might not expect it. and if you keep going for that it will throw off an experienced/good player more often than not. Thats why we dont only play one round in competitive matches. so there is time to adjust to completely bonkers play styles.
@@zoolz8l There is no disagreeing with objective facts. Regardless of the answer your shallow knowledge gives you, fact of the matter is that things like this only make it easier for good players to beat them. Doing something unexpected every once in a while can lead to an advantage, but doing it all the time is reckless and leads to getting wrecked.
It is very easy to respond to someone constantly jumping in in fighting games. Even I can do that and have done that and my reaction is very slow compared to any good player. If you miss it once, sure it can happen. Miss many major opportunities through multiple matches? No, you f***ing suck.
Never having played KI before, seeing how insane these combos are as well as the grounded gameplay REALLY makes me want to give this a shot. Love how much depth each gameplay system has!
Please do give it a shot. It's free to play on the windows store (if nothing has changed haha) so you can try it out. I personally got into it in 2016 via a chance encounter with the music. I've been a proud Kan-Ra main ever since

I'd like a patch for the next gen consoles with some graphic improve (more poligonal charge or anisotropic filteringand), but rendered at 4K 60fps would be enough though.
A true sequel would be awesome too btw.
Man, I still think the concept of the Counter Breaker is so goddamn awesome, it's a read of your oponent breaking your combo by stopping and inputing a different move... It's like playing 4D Chess but on fighting games.
Also, hype AF. The whole CCCCCOUNTER BREAKERRRR and then the hitstops from the continueing combo never gets old.
That jumping Jago reminds me of a match I had back in vanilla SF4. I was Cammy against a Ken, and the dude just kept jumping no matter how many times I anti-aired him or did full combo after he landed. Although that Jago was definitely a better player than the guy I'm talking about.
This game is so intense!! Everytime I see max pull of crazy combos it's so exciting! KI is a FIGHTING game and I'll never forget it.

Weird thought but I kind of want Max to do a “main stereotypes” video for KI kind of like what soundsmith did for tf2 or introspective for smash bros.
Considering how funny max can be and how well he knows KI, I imagine he could make some funny stereotypes for the people who play certain characters.
That makes me all kinds of curious of how Max would do it

Not the biggest fan of introspective, at least anymore but you unlocked a core memory of mine watching his smash 4 main stereotypes way back when. I’d love to see Max do that with KI!

3rd strike and KI is easily the best from this channel. Though that doesnt mean everything else is not good.
Never really played KI but it kinda gives me the feeling of If MK turned into an anime fighter.
It's been like that since 1994, the craziness of MK combined with the fluidity and refinement of SF... The 2013 game adds some extra ArcSys flair for even more glorious spiciness~
Max managed to find the one Gargos player that didn't know what he was doing. Every time I play one they absolutely have every aspect of gameplay locked down. That guy wasn't even using his sweep that reaches 3/4 screen.
In all fairness, even a really confident Gargos would struggle against Fulgore. A lot of Fulgore's kit makes him hard to lock down with his minions. And, less the Gargos commits to catching Fulgore teleporting around, he can't really catch up with him

I never understand why people jump so much. Especially when they're getting anti-aired every time.
Anti-airs aren't very common against your average low level player, which is what most people fight against.
Most people feel more comfortable blocking.
I recently got back into KI. For the life of me, I don’t know how anyone can take an extended break from this game, come back to it and still remember how to play it. It has so many weird mechanics that are just completely unique to KI.
They’re not bad mechanics. KI is functionally a great game and all the weird mechanics make a lot of sense once you learn all of them and see how they fit together. It’s just that remembering all of them is a giant pain in the butt.
I want to play this game again so bad.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over my last couple years of playing Killer Instinct it’s that you can never condition a KI player to stop jumping. They will jump for 12 games and die to anti airs for 12 games in a row and then message you ggs.
This game looks super cool
For anyone who thinks KI is dead, think again. Tons of KI content is being uploaded and streamed (myself included), including weekly tournaments happen all the time. Keep playing and a game won't die!
God damn I love watching this game. Especially certain characters like Tusk, Aganos, Eyedol, and Kan-Ra. So much hype and fun.
Yeah I feel like it's the short combos (because of breakers). I find long combos boring to watch. And Aganos must die.

I can't believe I only just thought of this, but part of me swore that max had done a rate the supers for Skullgirls. I get why he probably hasn't. Not only is he not that big of a fan of it, but lately Skullgirls has just been getting more and more stuff added to it that it might feel too soon NOW to make one. I hope he'll make one in the future, but I get why he might refuse.

Now that I have a decent PC I really wanna give KI a try, it seems super good !

Just be patient. It's amazing at both the button masher and elite levels but the transition period between the two can seem overwhelming because every character has such insane bullshit to master.
