    It is safe to say that for future upgrades when installing a Supercharger. is to suggest that the customer upgrade to high flow cats at the very least to prevent this from happening. maybe even include that in the install package. as I would pay a little more for the peace of mind for this type of failure. as the extra cost of the cat would for sure be cheaper than a whole new long block or tear down and rebuild. Great video. looking forward to more.

    This is why when I added power to my GT500, I hollowed out the cats. When I did the clutch swap, I noticed the xpipe and when I looked down past the cats, I saw nothing. Took to digging and the left side was already falling apart. Took a while but doing that probably saved me a world of hurt. BTW VMP did a great job tuning Roxxy. I hope the person who has her now is enjoying her as much as I did.

    VERY unusual VMP didn't STRONGLY suggest high flow cats or headers with/without cats during the Whipple installation! If anyone ever looked at the stock "y pipe" and cats you would wonder how anything flows through them! I had 5 Star Tuning do a Roush on my 2018 F-150 and they insisted I install at least a set of SPD high flow cats/"Y" pipe or headers with high flow cats due to the high failure rate of stock cats after supercharging. Both VMP and 5 Star Tuning are some of the best in the business so it is unusual VMP didn't also insist on the new cats since that is such a common failure point. I also used Borla (Touring) for the cat back part and feel with the reduced power of the Roush supercharger plus my very conservative driving style I have a very reliable set up, although much less power than the VMP, but have had NO reliability issues in 12,000 miles of all types of driving. I am sure VMP will fix you up to be better than new plus able to handle any additional power you want to throw at it so hang in there for better things to come from VMP.

    First let me start off with the fact that Mike needed the cats to pass inspection in PA. Secondly for everyone beating up the engine STFU and do some research about the engine before you say it's weak. On top of that I hope VMP steps up and helps pay for most of this because they are a vehicle upfitter and for them to not recommend headers and or a performance cat is kinda BS as this is something that can happen with Forced induction

    • @jon8843
      @jon8843 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. It sounds like VMP knew the factory cats are too restrictive for the supercharger....They should replace the cats at the very least for failing to recommend and informing the customer....imo...sounds shady...now they gotta do all this extra work for more $$$ Lol

      or the tune had an issue. I'm at 656 rwhp on my f150 with the factory cats. I don't drive my truck very hard, but I do worry about this issue. there is a fella on the f150 forum where this exact same thing happened. OZ tuned, 3.650 pulley with factory cats. lost compression across the entire bank.

      Id ditch the cats ASAP. If not long tubes at least do cat delete pipes youll gain a decent chunk of power while slightly lowering boost making the setup more efficient. Coyotes are raspy so id recommend going with a slightly tamer muffler with cat deletes (idk what your setup is) just to keep from being insanely raspy

      Why would they. Its an easy business opportunity for them to grow their wealth. Just look at their shop. You honestly think they care about the customers wallet?

    • @wysetech2000
      @wysetech2000 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ShitFromShinola If VMP warned their customers about the converters they would have to warn them about poor fuel economy, more frequent spark plug changes, possible transmission, driveshaft and differential damage, bald tires and premature brake wear. They would have to warn the customer that they might lose their drivers licence or kill themselves or someone else.
      I guess some people would tell them to forget the supercharger but most wouldn't care.

    It's hard for me to believe that someone would be stupid enough to install forced induction to their motor, without addressing the stock manifolds and cats.
    I know 3 different people, who left their cats on, after installing superchargers and all 3 blew a piston!!

    Love the channel but why was a compression test not ran from the beginning to discover that either way it could have went blown motor or over heating or timing cause compression issues compression test would and should be the first thing on any ford motor 5.0,4.6new 5.0 and new 5.2 including the new 7.3 direct injection with 10 spd diesel truck

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! With the codes we had, we wanted to check timing first so we didn't cause any additional damage. Cranking it over for a compression test could possibly bend valves and we wanted to avoid that.
