How can you call yourself a car guy just because you buy cars. But have no clue whatsoever how to fix them or tune them, troubleshoot, know how to read the tunes or anything or do absolutely anything to build your vehicles. Just paying someone else to do everything, your not a car guy just have money to buy all the stuff Bc of TH-cam. Makes

my thoughts exactly. It's common sense to change the set whenever you mess with spark plugs. But i guess i can understand Mike's impulse to save money if he's going to buy another set in a few hours (or the next day, even)

It was a really good thing that porcelain didn't come off and chew up the cylinder. That cheap fix would have become expensive real fast.
Yep, I've replaced two engines (in warranty) of my clients cars because of this in the past year...

@@jOEL-mp6ho It was an other Brand, it was a Peugeot 308 2017, 3 cylinder gas turbo engine 130hp. Not at all the same engine lol, but same issue..
The cylinder concerned by this issue has a considerable amount of calamine behind the admission valve head.
I think it's because of the oil breather coming too close to the valves.
It would be good to check where the oil breather is placed on the Coyote engine, it could give us an idea of the issue. In our case, the issue create rumble on the cylinder at fault.
Hyundai had one similar to that, you had to replace spark plugs because the porcelain would crack so you had to check if they were before, replace them if they were fine or cracked, if broken had to call tech line for assistance

Thx for posting this Mike. I have a 2018 Roush SC V8 F150 and had the exact same thing happen to me last week. My truck was parked idle outside for a week in sub freezing weather while I was away, when I came back I noticed the check engine light was on. Took it for diagnosis and it was a misfiring on cylinder #1. Thx to you & Brian, I now know to check the plugs! Appreciate it!
C63 broken, F150 broken.. soon the only car he'll be able to drive is the HOOPTIE. Which by the way, has been the most reliable and most profitable car he currently owns! ;)

Glad it wasnt a cylinder leak or anything more serious like broken piston/block.

If it was a cylinder leak the coolant light would come on. In fact the majority of the time I've seen a coolant light come on in my lifetime is because of the cylinder head gasket leaking but if you catch it early you won't get misfire either.
Perfect timing to be right where it could get diagnosed properly and fixed quickly and major props to Justin at VMP. For the owner of a busy company to return a call that promptly is definitely customer service!

Should order a full set of plugs since they are not easily local for you. Then you have them just in case
I would have a set of coil pack stock pile as well. 👍
And screw those overpriced performance plugs. A set of Bosch or Ngk platinums will last almost forever.
Yes Sir! ALWAYS keep spares. Is that Supercharger Belt now unique? Get a spare! What I do a lot is change those critical things out once early and create a stash.

I love Brian. He is a top drawer kinda guy to have as a friend. No bullshit, just facts from him. All your guys that have worked with you for your vehicles over the years are doing it well. I think the only bad thing i can remember was the alloy company messing you around. You got the snow, in a day or two here in the UK we're gonna have a North African airmass bringing late April type weather. Not complaining one bit. Sunroof will be fully open. I love them drives!
I envy people who think of cars like thry do their shoes. Very liberating not abusing, but not stressing either.

Mike just be glad that the tip of the spark plug held the porcelain of the spark plug and didn't let it break into the valves

Just be glad mike that it wasnt a P300 code which is a multiple/random cylinder misfire. Those are a pain in the ass to diagnose! Glad it got fixed quick and cheap!

When i bought my used F-150 a few months ago wasn't sure where to take it for service when i started watching your videos and saw that Brian worked at moon township Ford it was a no brainer! Been there a few times for service, awsome place and great people! Actually have an appointment next week to have my borla exhaust installed!👍
Mike I felt your anxiety man! At least the plug didn't shoot out or break off like the notorious 5.4 had a habit of doing. Love that supercharger!

@@randyscott954 you probably get the copper ones, iridium lasts longer than 100k miles, and ngk will always last longer
@@brianshaggy I agree, copper is like from the 80's back to the future crap when Flux Capacitors were popular or meth heads looking for quick cash, currently......I've ran NGK iridium in Nissan, Toyota and three F150s and the performance was noticeably improved along with gas mileage.

I'm glad that worked out for you. I had the same thing happen to me with my truck and it ended up being a lifter had collapsed on me. Really sucks. Gland nothing happened that pretty truck.

I know this has been said before but I would definitely recommend ordering a set or 2 if your going to replace 1 might as well replace them all at once .

Those headlights are badass!
First time you showed it starting from the front. Those lights look awesome on start up. As for the plug fail, I thought it would be either that or melted ht lead... buy a few spares on those plugs. If one failed already, odds are more will fail.

Mike, Before you exit the vehicle for the night, turn on your defroster and set the heater & fan to high.
The next time you use Auto-Start, you'll step into a nice warm cab.
Water pump and all the little coolant hoses and all your pullies are taking a beating, your u joints wheel bearings, brakes etc. Next is the transmission, those factory clutches and torque converter are not happy! Then Timing chain and Head Gasket are next! Happy supercharging!

VMP installed a set of one step colder brisk plugs to go with the supercharger, I've read that brisks are a tad brittle and that seems to be the case here.
The NGK iridium 6510 is a good option for an OSC plug or you can use a Motorcraft SP-542 which is also a one step colder iridium plug the full part # for the Motorcraft is CYFS-092-YPT.
Expect a lifespan of about 12000miles for a set of iridium plugs on a boosted motor, the tighter gap and increased combustion pressure shortens the life of the plugs life considerably compared to a naturally aspirated application.
I forgot to mention that my dad wants a Ford Truck too. He wants the F-250 king ranch fully loaded. I sat in one at the Syracuse NY auto show. It was so big inside that they took the battery out so I couldn't move the seat forward. But my feet couldn't reach the pedals. If I ever bought a truck it would be the Raptor but I am getting the Subaru Forester 2019. My dream SUV is the Audi Q8. It is like the Lamborghini Urus. Mike can you review the Audi Q8 when the weather is nicer please please.
Wonder what made it crack? I have Ngk's in my G8 but luckily haven't had any issues

I had the same problem 3 times on my 07 F150...I ended up taking out the k&n air filter (also have Corsa exhaust) I had a feeling it was running too hot and put the stock air filter back in and has been fine since. Just throwing it out there
I guess the last mod you need to do is a Lariat gauge cluster swap from Livinitup on the F150 forum and get me the Sport Cluster from him too and put it on your tab haha.

Do yourself a favor..
Grab a spare serpentine belt.. GATES RPM series
A Spare set of spark plugs (gapped and ready to go)..
And keep 2 fresh new Coil on plug packs handy for a fast diagnosis..
I’m 80k miles supercharged and still running mint...
An oil catch can is also strong recommendation to keep that intake pure and the twin screws dry..

Just installed my amber Morimotos this past Saturday. I prefer the sequential as well so I left them unplugged, but I also just removed that whole wire loom from the fuse box and replaced the 10 fuse. I had hyper-flashing once after the install, but nothing since. I wonder if it's necessary at all?
Pretty cool to see that computer program showing all of the cylinders firing. I guess just plug it up to your ODB2 port with the correct software.

Maybe I missed a previous video. But with the addition of the supercharger I am wondering if you had to upgrade any of the other drivetrain components such as but not limited to u-joints, spline shafts, transmission components or serviced etc?
