  • In this video I show you how to disable the Magic Remote feature on LG TV's. In this demo I am using the 86 inch LG smart TV (The 2021 Model).
One of the main features of the Magic Remote is the ability to move a cursor around the TV screen and easily point and click to get access to content as well as navigate various screens and applications by simply pointing your LG remote control in front of the TV and simply moving it around. The LG remote controls a pointer on the screen and the user interface experience is very similar to that of using a MAC or PC with a mouse.
Some of my viewers have asked me how to disable this feature and I do understand that while it is a really cool feature it can be a bot distracting at times and there are some of us who just like to use a remote the traditional way, whereby we simply click the channel button up or down as we surf channels to look for some interesting content to watch.
In addition to showing you how to enable and disable the magic remote feature I also show you how you can increase or decrease the speed at which the on screen cursor moves on the screen when you move the magic remote.
Finally, I demonstrate how you can change the size of the on screen cursor as well.

I think most people want to disable it permanently

Agreed. I'm thinking of getting an LG TV, but will not do so if I cannot get rid of this "feature". Why LG do not offer the option of a normal remote control is beyond me.

Why when you hit the gear button takes you back to previous screen along with the settings? Is that common cause mine does that too

If it was possible to disable the accelerometer in the remote control so it doesn't put stupid menus on top of what I'm watching every time the remote control is bumped that would solve the biggest problem with this feature.

Just bought an LG open box with no magic remote. Thought is would be fine with a universal one. Now I have a notifications every 30 damn seconds trying to pair with the stupid proprietary magic remote trash and I can't stop it. I already have buyers remorse on the first day. Never again LG.

you did not show how to actually disable the thing. Each time I press the center button, the "registering" thing fires up, then fail as always, because the remote is not fully compatible (is older). What I ask is how to disable for good, so the TV never to start registering anything, no matter what. Your movie does not solve that issue

English lesson. Disable means to stop it working forever. Turn Off means to turn it off.
This b=video shows nhow to turn this annoying magic crap off, not how to disable it.
I have not bought a new LG TV for a few years - they have great picture quality and build.
But all this new annoying crap in their software means I will probably never buy another LG TV.

  • @iceshadow625

Waste of time. Temporarily making it go away is not the same as disabling it. Yes I can use the arrows, but it is annoying when I’m twirling my remote and the cursor keeps popping up on the screen.

This thing is utterly obnoxious. And it is even worse that LG does not offer an option to disable it.
Having to click a directional button every single time is not OK. I need to be guaranteed that it will never show up in the first place, because it throws me off every single time I touch the damn remote.
Every single damn time I go to use the remote, the damn little pointer starts moving on screen. I hate it with a passion. It is the worst part of owning this TV.
I had to go on eBay and order a 3rd party replacement remote without the accelerometers in order to make using my LG C3 TV tolerable. Otherwise I would have had to return the whole TV.
And its really stupid how proud LG is of this feature. Samsung was doing this on the JS9000 of theirs I owned back in 2015, but at least they had the common decency of requiring you to press a button for the cursor to appear, so I never had to actually see it.

Thats not fucking disabling it, we want that to not happen in the first place, we want to DISABLE it not just temporarily get off of it
