This was an exceptional video!! We ended up running to the music store and buying a few widths of guitar picks, and it worked like a charm!!) Still had to order a new remote, but only because it was a worn out roller. For cleaning, and fixing any other problems, this was perfect. My issue was the power button would not work. Had to take it apart and clean. I was not sure how to disassemble without damaging. Your instructions were great. Power button is now fully functional after cleaning. Thank you !!
I had a different problem, which was that I dropped my TV remote and it came of but I saw your video and it helped a lot putting it back thank you so much!

I would like to add one tip to solve the issue if not recognising the magic remote by the TV when you are sure that the remote is new and also the batteries. The method is to make sure you are at the main TV screen without any app is open (the screen that has pictures changing) and then with your remote pointing at the TV you have to press and hold the back and home button for five seconds until you see the red button is blinking three times(sometimes will not blink), do that twice, then press the back button three times and last hold the middle scroll button for three seconds, you will see a notification at the top mentioning the linking

Edit: Make sure that there is no other remote is registered is near the TV, to un-register previously linked remote, just press and hold the home and back button while pointing toward the TV for five second until you see the blinking red button

The cleaning didn't work on my power button, I stll have to press it with to thumbs force in order to it to work, when it was new (its my second magic remote: the first was the same and eventually it stoped working) it worked fine.

Good video. It a must to clean remote controls in a while, BUT..cleaning under the rubber buttons with alcohol can remove the conductive solution on them, so that the dont do the connection any more!!!
You can check if the buttons work with your mobile camera (that can see IR (Infrared light). 😉

Tried all the steps. Still isn’t working
Had wheel and arrows not working. What fixed it for me, was holding back and home for 5 seconds. This resets remote, and installs new software if needed.

Clean the contacts using a cloth? Doesn't make a difference. There is a plastic film over the metal domes. One of my keys is very intermittent, even pressing with the PCB exposed, it still doesn't work. In my case without taking the plastic film off, it isn't easy to diagnose. Annoying that the broken key is an often used one, as many of the keys I never ever use. Genuine spare remotes are stupidly expensive.

This remote control has buttons made of metal circles, over which adhesive tape is glued to protect them, and debris with dirt will not damage the contacts in any way, and your cleaning is useless. It is possible that the soldering of the chip is bad contacts, it is necessary to remove and solder them again, and a malfunction of the electronic components is also possible. - Your video is completely useless and not applicable to this remote.
I actually cleaned this remote a year ago when I got it used from eBay and you will probably won't believe the amount of cat or dog hair I found between the silicone membrane and the board.
quite right he does not mention the fact that every button when pressed, the red light comes on .S o pressing each button five times ? if you press a button and the red light does not show means the contacts are not making contact. . His suggestion to carefully clean the exposed contacts is useless , it is an internal fault, and these units are sealed.,, make of that what you will. This video is presented to us from a well meaning person who does not understand what he is talking about.
