Went into rehab on 12-12-93. When I got out , I joined a aa group, got a sponsor, and started to work the 12 steps. On 12-12-20 I will be sober 27 years. Yeah it can be done.

@@lordnelsonmc.billionberg9166 the best thing to do is go to a rehab facility as soon as possible. Then find a aa group, get a sponsor and work the steps. Also design a program that works just for you. Also seek a higher power to help you. I am doing those things and I am looking at 27 years on 12-12-20. It is a sure thing if you work at it at 1 day at a time. Good luck.if you need more advice, send me a message.

There are several ideas worth trying
Avoid stimulants including alcohol and coffee
      Try to relax
      Do daily exercises
      Seek help from others
(I learned these and more ideas on Trevs panic fixer site )

I'm on day 6 of abstention. The past few days were stressful and physically uncomfortable. I had chest pain, body aches, slight muscle spasms, and panic attacks. I wasn't dependent on alcohol to function throughout the day but I drank quite a bit in the evenings every night. Stray strong everyone! Man, that anxiety that develops is beyond horrible, I even lost jobs over it. I'm 2 months sober coming from every day drinking for years. My dependency was out of control so I had to keep drinking just to get sleep and be active. There was days I just laid down drinking in bed. I'm feeling a lot better now, especially adding a supplement with multiple vitamins and especially magnesium and potassium, it helps a lot. Stay away from caffeine and it will go a little smoother. Ty for the advice, love the channel and support. Happy holidays everyone 🎉✨🫶

Dude that anxiety and fast paced heart beat had me about to lose it, so I had someone give me a Klonopin which helped the first day. Second day I have slowly tapered. I feel so much better since I started taking supplements and electrolytes. It’s tremendously help alleviate. I didn’t realize how depleted alcohol binge drinking can do really screw you up for days. Not worth it. Never suffered this ever till recently.

Not necessarily a sign of alcoholism. But it can be the problem that leads to you drinking everyday which leads to alcoholism. The anxiety you feel after a drinking session is a rebound in the neurotransmitters in your brain. While you are drunk your brain is flooded with GABA (relaxing). In an attempt to level this out and maintain homeostasis your brain is flooded with glutimate which is a stimulating neurotransmitter. The alcohol wears off and the GABA levels drop back down to normal but your glutimate levels are still very elevated. This is what creates anxiety (or withdrawal). Source: I've been through withdrawal a few times and I'm a psychiatric nurse. I know my shit.

    • @lewisisdaman
      @lewisisdaman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

It is tempting to drink again to relieve these symptoms and that is where the problem starts

I get what you're saying. I made it to a fortnight.
Valium is a must for the first 4 days. And for anxiety. To really stop, you must have no excuses.
I ended with shaking later in the day, so I trick myself with one glass to stop the withdrawal symptoms. No good.
      I bought magnesium.
I use valium to stop a seizure and anxiety.

I ended up having a big seizure when I stopped. I had all the symptoms, hallucinations, heart all over the place, dizziness, insomnia and all of the horror stories you here. I pissed and shit myself. My friend took me to the hospital as she was so concerned with the state I was in, then as I waited on the gurney the darkness came over me and I had the seizure. Woke up in the scanner whilst they were checking my brain. I actually had two seizures one after another. I felt so awful. Three days in hospital and they sent me home. I could barely walk, dizzy and just felt like I'd been hit by a truck. It took me at least three months before I was feeling something near normal. They had me on all sorts of vitamins, drip fed in hospital then meds for when I left which I took for ages, til my body recovered. That was four years ago and I've not had a drink since. It was like walking through hell when I was in the midst of drinking. I was getting through a litre and half of spirits a day and whatever else I could get down me. Alcohol is so dangerous and so bad for you. How its still legal is beyond me. I feel for anyone going through it. You can beat it. Just go to the doctor and tell them what is going on and do a controlled medical withdrawal. Alcohol is the worse substance to get off. Get help from professionals. Good luck. Coming out the other side is like being reborn. You'll wonder what on earth it was all about. Horrible life destroying shit. There is a way out if your in the grip of it. You can be free of it. And you can have your life back. Start appreciating being sobre and all the wonder that it brings.

Vividly remember the nightmare of severe hangover/withdrawal the first few days after binge drinking. I didn't even feel alive, and the anxiety from brain chemicals being messed up was literal hell. Heart rate stays high the first couple of days, with the first day being the worst by far. The extreme tiredness and dehydration just makes the anxiety worse. I had a lot of confusion when withdrawing from chronic alcohol use, and those DTs can be very dangerous. I thought I was going to die all day long the first day after coming to.

Major props to Rick who was the guy who got me started on the use of supplements in recovery to the point where I am now branching out on my own in the hope of helping a few last gasp cases similar to myself. His use of amino acids made a strong impression on me but I would add two points. DLPA is a quasi-racemic version of L Phenylalanine. Straight L-Phenylalanine is an L-Tyrosine and L Dopa precursor but seems to have a more relaxed "joyous" effect than either DLPA or Tyrosine. L-Tryptophan is a serotonin precursor and L-Phenylalanine and L-Tyrosine are dopa precursors. It is important to keep the serotonin (happy) and dopa (pleasure) systems in balance.

This is the first time I've heard about Passion flower, will try. My mum used to drink valerian tea before going to bed; it worked wonderfully and in fact is the prototype of the 1st benso, Valium. One thing to avoid is valerian drops which are usually in an alcohol suspension - no go there. This is a great list. (I get my Epsom salts in mega bags in Canada, so the cost for me is luckily not prohibitive, and also helps with sciatica.)

110 days sober after a serious bout with end stage alcoholism. I too am still dealing with that neuropathy although it is much better. I take so many supplements it is hard to pinpoint but it seems like methyl B12 1000 mcgs., methyl Folate and Sulbutiamine (a very bioavailable form of B1 developed in Japan - most alcoholics have pretty severe B1 deficiencies, it's what causes the syndrome commonly known as "wet brain") - 100 mgs. really help with the neuropathy and an overall feeling of clear headed well being. I don't care whether my doctor agrees with me or not but in this case he absolutely does.

Thats sound advice. Just ask for Ativan or Libriuem for a 5-7 day period. You cant get hooked on them that way. Biggest thing for me after detox was family environment stress which cause triggers and cravings and eventually i relasped and had to get on a benzo regimen again. Benzos are a life saver if trying to taper off from alcohol withdrawal.

Awesome video! I've even used everything you talked about in the video over the years for alcohol withdrawal anxiety, benzo withdrawal anxiety, and opiate withdrawal anxiety, and even just generalized or social anxiety. The first time I came off alcohol after a really bad dependence I could barely sleep and I had so much tension and anxiety. My mom's friend who is an acupuncturist told me to take 500 mg to even 1,000 mg of magnesium at night with dinner for the first week or longer. Literally, from the very first dose I took, I slept a full 8 hours and woke up with much less anxiety. I love everything you taught about and have experiences with them as well, but magnesium was my first alcohol withdrawal remedy that I ever tried and I loved how fast it worked.
Great info!!! Looking forward to watching more videos you come out with. You really know this subject well!

Damn! I read like 5 comments on this. I was a HUGE ALCOHOLIC.....a liter or more of cheap disgusting vodka a day. I see on here ppl talking about "their 3rd day" with no alcohol. If I was on my 3rd day back when I was heavy drinking....on the 3rd day I'd NEVER be able to type a response because the shakes were too intense. I had to have ppl light my own cigt because I shook too much to light it myself. If someone is in major withdrawal symptoms you're NOT gonna type a huge response. PERIOD. I almost died from alcohol withdrawal LITERALLY. The hallucinating and not knowing if you're actually hallucinating or if its REAL is REAL alcoholism. I just cant with reading these messages. Apparently MOST ppl dont know what its like to go thru str8 up horrific withdrawal symptoms. This really irritates me. Oh I've been 4 days without alcohol and I shake a little bit. That means you ARENT a severe alcoholic. Seizures, hallucinations, psychotic break, mental break, ALMOST DYING....THATS ALCOHOLISM!!!!!! 🤬🤬🤬

My use progressed until I just couldnt even get drunk anymore, no matter how much I would drink. It wasnt being hung over the next day but rather major alcohol withdrawal, which was much worse and that is very scary. It really is an underrated and terrible drug. That is what brought me here...Seeking that positive change and making it last. Thanks for posting these videos!

sometimes have anxiety especially if my sleep is poor. I now take magnesium and a few other things,
tried valium and temaz. they work but i end up abusing them and using as an alcohol substitute. This video
is really good he is right about the magnesium and herbal supps, they do relax you but without the euphoria
of alcohol or benzos. If it helps get people off alcohol then brilliant !!!

Last short comment on yoga as active meditation; in its current form Hatha yoga is only about 100 yrs old; injuries can occur, but definitely good idea -- I have always been drawn to endurance activity; I would say for me that the blue factor when swimming lengths in the pool has a meditative quality and for older individuals like myself is a low impact activity which affects the whole body, core muscles etc.; at the same time some weight-bearing exercise is crucial for bone health and balance -- i'm trying to arrange a detox, got through most of this day without alcohol, one drink and I'm motor mouth again. Your work is deeply appreciated and definitely time for me to be quiet.

I can go out to eat without drinking go to work or really anything however for the last 8-9 months I drink burbon before I go to sleep so I’m wondering if I quit cold turkey am I at risk for crazy withdrawals...I can go 24 hours without it for sure and not even think about it but haven’t gone much longer than that in a very long time.

I’m currently in my first foray into post-acute alcohol withdrawal. Almost picked up beer last night (had that strong dopamine expectation urge), but I’m keeping L-Glutamine in the car to kill the craving. It’s strong enough to curb the craving until I’m past my gas station trigger and finally home. I had some insomnia and shakes during sleep last night (first time I’ve ever experienced full body shakes), so I’m getting a feel for how hard these withdrawal symptoms are going to be for me after 2 decades of regular twice/thrice weekly late night beer drinking. I have some Phenibut coming in the mail, and am trying Bacopa Monnieri currently along with green tea and magnesium citrate to reduce the anxiety. I’m only two days from my last drink, and if I have to taper with alcohol until the Phenibut comes in to replace it, so be it. I going to try to struggle a little by starting with small doses (

I recently went on a crazy binge on quit cold turkey because I looked like shit on there were no groceries in the house. I took a shit load of vitamins B, magnesium etc. Also liters of green tea with fresh lemon. I also took a lot of Spirulina which is supposed to help with detoxification of the liver. Although I didn’t sleep for shit I felt quite relaxed. So I think my organs were recovering rapidly, but quitting cold turkey was not a good idea. I started hearing music coming out the wall, that was not even that unpleasant, but a bit frightening. Then I met a devil lady. Shouting and laughing at me repetitively. Non-stop. I tell you, I’m lucky to have walked out of it alive. Also to die while in the scariest experience of my life would not have been nice. Alcohol is fucking toxic, and a bad withdrawal will show you hardhandedly how bad it really is. If you are concerned, go to a doctor. Diazepam will help you sleep and this shit goes away a lot faster. Stay strong.

    • @claytonmenezes8840
      @claytonmenezes8840 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

Bro the Devil Lady might not be your mind playing tricks on you. Demons are real and I've had many experiences with them. My wife doesn't drink. Not only have I seen these demons, but my completely sober wife has too. One night a demon of lust with no eyes and bloody teeth met my wife while she was in bed. At the same time I was in another part of the house just beginning to have these uncontrollable desire to watch porn. My wife sees this demon walk through the wall and come to me. It said that I belong to it and was laughing at my wife when she said that I belong to her. Alcohol and drugs can sometime bring your consciousness to a certain place where you tap into the spiritual real. So don't ignore the experience. You need Jesus bro. In His Name demons flee. And You'll find mercy in God's presence through Christ.

Listening to this in bits and pieces; Big Pharma promoted SSRIs as not addictive, as opposed to the cross addiction of the housebound woman in the early '60s swigging booze and taking valium. My sis has been sober for 33 yrs and she was prescribed an SSRI on which she is dependent, no matter how many generations these drugs go through, she can't get past that last small dose without catastrophic consequences. So if at all possible, unless clinical depression is clearly involved, avoid it; does little or nothing to relieve anxiety. The only comment I have about these beneficial alternative approaches to anxiety relief is that the content is not FDA regulated. Melatonin is important in initiating sleep but supplementing with it is to my mind dangerous; less is definitely more and there is no way to properly ascertain how much you're taking just by picking up a supplement from a health food store.
