I followed this and now my fov is very different! It was way off before and probably a big factor in my poor lap times. The car seems slower now, and the track is narrower, but this actually makes it easier to drive more accurately. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this video.. been struggling for two years to get this right. I have been super close before but never completely right. Thank you thank you thank you.
@@XJSimulations if you select 3 flat screens , it will ask for the angle between the center and side screen. It is not there if you have curved monitors.
@@XJSimulations it is simply because for this option iRacing expects 3 curved monitors making smooth arc without interruption and/or angles. changing/editing angle in DX11Monitor.ini file makes no change in fov at all. try it.
Wow this was amazing. In the planning of getting triples so will def save this video! Would u mind telling me the actual distance u have from your eyes to your center monitor?
@@XJSimulations Just followed your guide but nothing happens when I press compute =( So no idea what number I should have there? Any chance you could help me? Im 58cm eye distance and 712mm monithor width
The second most annoying thing about iRacing besides the grass and sand trap physics is the lack of a true seat forward and back feature. The problem with moving the camera is that the seat head supports almost completely block your side view on triples depending on how far back you go.
When going with the ‘just set viewing distance to 540 regardless’ method, I was never quite satisfied with the FoV outcome and ended up changing it with the slider anyway until it looked ‘right’. Interestingly, when entering the actual distance from my centre monitor (640), the calculated FoV was within 8 degrees of what I had eyeballed. I do think the math works when you correctly enter distance from screen. Maybe it makes more difference with larger screens/triple screens?
Thanks for the video... I definitely doesn't change monitor angle I gotta do that... Also gonna try the 540mm mine is at 685 right now. Maybe tomorrow ill do some playing around appreciate it
Great video, quick question, do you align the curved monitors with the curvature of the monitor so its continuous curve of all 3 so it looks like a seamless curve or angle the monitor to what some calculators recommend.
Great question and I think it is user preference. As long as you measure the side angle and use that degree, it should be fine. For me, I use a continuous curve with the monitors.
@@XJSimulations @artgrecco7373 I have a bit of a tight space so angle the curved monitors 'in' tighter. Imagine a half circle between the ends of the monitors and the centre of the centre monitor intersecting as you look from above. To set the radius curvature I measure between the end of each of the L & R monitor to get a distance and halve that (to get a radius). Example: I have 1500R screens on a 69 deg angle. The distance is 1210mm between the L/R monitor end points. I use approx 605mm as the Radius (not 1500R) and tweak a little from there. This isn't perfect but I have found that at least for me prevents the left/right 'squeezing' in to the sides. You can adjust these values until fences and other straight lines in the view at eye level look straight.
if you use triple screen, it is for align the lines to be continuous between central and side monitors. other words, you can adjust difference between level of your eyes and vertical middle of the screen to be in the same level without moving screens or your position up or down.
Good Day XJ simulations, first and foremost thanks for the video I learned a lot about FOV, but I did everything u said and still can't get my triple to work again. Everything was was working fine until I made a HUGE mistake and changed Resolutions in inracing from 5760/1080 to 1920/1080. Finally fixed that after hours, and can't seem to get it back to triple monitors to work. I delighted iracing and re-download it again cause i dident know that the 2nd patch change a few thing around in appini. Can u give me any suggestions for my fix. It would be really appreciated. Thanks
I really need to do a video explaining the steps to setup triples from the start. With the changes over the past few seasons, it is a bit different now. The changes you are referring to are in the monitor.ini or virtual.ini as opposed to the app.ini
Great question and I do not have an answer as I do not have a bezel free kit :) However, I would tell you to check the view with and without the bezel size. I'm betting without is the better way. Come back and let me know!
I'm curious if you're using nvidia surround or not? I've always NOT used surround, just updated the parameters in RenderDX11.ini to setup for 32" curved triples (and have a 4th monitor above the triples). But ever since the 23S1 iracing update my FPS has been crap. Tried resetting everything with the iRacing Graphics auto-config, but now I've gotten everything a big screwed up for triples. Wondering if I should just use surround now.
I’m not using Nvidia Surround in iRacing, but use it for some other racing titles. I had the same issues during seasons 1&2 2021. No explanation and no assistance from iRacing to resolve the problems either as it was a small minority of users. This time it seems like iRacing is working toward a resolve. Side note, there is no way in hell this current platform can handle rain!
This is the video I come back to whenever I have issues, it's the best video for setting up triples. 10/10

Awesome! Just what I like to hear. Super glad I could help you.
Screen Angle has been patched into the option menu since this video. Nice they added that. Thanks for taking the time to put this together!
Hum. I don't see the side monitor angle anywhere in the Option/Graphics menu.
@@XJSimulations if you select 3 flat screens , it will ask for the angle between the center and side screen.
It is not there if you have curved monitors.
It only appears if you put you re running flat screens

I'm 21 inches from my center monitor.

Yeah bud, you are right about that. There is a point of diminishing returns.
you can do that man.
just go in replay -> cockpit camera > control+f 12

Question: What are your recommendations regarding "shift horizon" setting?
User preference. I would tell you to experiment to see what works best for you. I don’t think there is a right answer.

-12 to -14 shift horizon or you're looking down, once you notice it you'll never unnotice it
only true if monitor screen is center at mid eye level as well
Any chance the name files changed? I can’t find any .ini files anywhere. Maybe because I installed via Steam?
You may need to review where Steam installed your local files. You can do that from Steam Library.

You'll just have to play with the bezel setting in iracing until it looks right. I have to use a negative number on mine for things to line up.
Thanks for providing that information for others!
Why not use SMP/MVP setting?
That is a personal preference for people to choose if it works for them or not.
it only works with RTX GPU cards
the same bulshit as I have heard before about the 540mm viewing distance, LOL
Is it BS? Or is it not?
@@XJSimulations of course it is, because viewing distance is one of two values which are needed to have correct fov. Steliyan is wrong in this part.
