@hed_sh0tz__638 even with phone speakers you can 100% tell the difference it's insane how a simple exhaust tip size diameter changes the exhaust note giving it more depth to the note & also slightly louder with anything over 4 inch tips
Brother, way to bring the information to the people. You taught me something today. I always thought the tips were just for show. Excellence pure excellence!! The way you broke it down and did the before and afters. Outstanding job brother!!!!👍👍👍😎
The sound definitely seems more noticeable outside the vehicle, likely because being inside you're closer to the intake manifold and the cat converter end of the exhaust assembly, but it's a nice mod to make your car look more attractive and give it some unique personality in it's sound. Great video
Yeah the grittiness and throatiness is definitely more pronounced on the 4" when outside the vehicle. The startup is most notable. More pronounced bark and sharper tone. Great video man. Effective, thorough and to the point.
Wow! I'm not sure which one I like better. I love the deeper and slightly louder sound of the 4" tips but I also like the classic, sharp v8 muscle tone. Both sound awesome!
The main difference comes from the diameter/cross section area. Larger cross section slows down the exhaust gases, and from what I hear that results in the deeper timber. More effect with more length of changed section. Muffler delete with 2” vs 3” makes a huge difference, 2” is raspy and 3” is deep but drony
I can tell you from experience it does. I have a straight pipe from the cats on my 2008 charger rt and it screams but has some rasp and almost a tin can sound at wot. But then i welded on some resonated tips and it is like a night and day difference. Much deeper tone, throaty and at idle its a little louder and growly. I didnt think tips would be anything but cosmetic but it was a nice surprise.
Thank you for how concise and informative this was! Plenty of camera angles and good sound quality, and flooring the shit out of it, 10/10 will recommend!
Mechanic of 25 years here and I would have said the same thing tips don’t matter but damn was i wrong by the way excellent editing very clear and plain to see that tips do matter that’s what she said
I have a cat-back system on my Charger, I experimented with different tips and was surprised at the sound differences. The 5 inch tips really amplified the sound of the exhaust and I’m very pleased. Great video
Technically you’re probably right, but the right tips can amplify the sound to make it “sound a little louder” when it’s really a deeper/ throatier tone but same loudness
Tip choice is huge for sound, double-wall will reduce drone and rasp, dual tips can add crackle on decel. Single wall tips will you give you a tin can sound in most applications… Also I completely forgot how nasty these transams are! Spinning at 70mph?! I want one!
The tips add a horn effect to the exhaust like a loudspeaker, directly coupling sound more effectively outside the vehicle and giving it a specific tone
Changing twinpipe with twinpipe won't change the sound, single piece to twinpipe and vice versa will. However, extendeding or decreasing the gap between silencer and pipe will change the sound if you change twinpipe with twinpipe or single with single
Something I've Always wondered is if tips with a rolled edge sounded much different than the double walled ones. I feel like that lip catching the air coming out would give it a different sound.
Just came across this channel..... I can answer this, Yes, as long as you are comparing a Resonated Tip vs Non resonated tips..... I have ran straight pipe with res tips and they do change the sound 🤙
Yep and you can always hear dual exhaust more than a single exhaust, for example with a single exhaust on the right side of your vehicle you’ll obviously have a lot of sound on the right and hardly any on the left.
Would you look at that... someone who CAN actually make comparison videos.... you should be hired by every single youtuber out there that makes comparison videos
I try to make them an appropriate length. I can't stand when it's a 18min video and 17 mins of it is just them talking about something not related to the title of the video
It does change the sound. I had a 2014 nissan titan with jba headers and borla exhaust. Used to have a tip with a mesh inside and sounded good, but when it fell off i bought a Remington open-sight tip just single wall that thing was loud! Scared the s*#t out off people when i would start it.
Finally a video that explains it, shows it, and isn't 10 minutes long lol
most people make them 10mins because that’s how they make money, that’s why i don’t go for any 10 mins one😂
Then I'm in the right place
Couldn't agree more

i can’t tell the difference still
Fr tho.. all the different angles
@Murphys_Law9 listen with headphones or a speaker system.. then you can completely tell the decibel changes
@hed_sh0tz__638 even with phone speakers you can 100% tell the difference it's insane how a simple exhaust tip size diameter changes the exhaust note giving it more depth to the note & also slightly louder with anything over 4 inch tips
Sounds deeper with tips. Nice vid.
Deeper is always good, but my girlfriend only lets me do just the tip.

Are tips universal?
Golden!!
I have a picture of a local old guy who put an actual trombone horn tip on his truck
Literally the best exhaust sound comparison video that has ever been made. Thank you.
Also, your car sounds AWESOME!
damn bruh you sent it, i was expecting 70 at max, naaah u went flying

No tips and 4" Tips
Gotta respect a guy who will go so fast he could lose his license on the spot just to make a youtube video about how Quad tips sound
Wow didnt expect that much change in sound with just the tips. Ty for this vid.
The tips fo increase sound on my dads nissan armada made it sound like a GTR are start up
I was actually surprised at the results. There is definitely a noticeable difference. And goddamn LS1's sound amazing

I would say i could change the muffler/pipe and have a different sound each day lol.
One of the best exhaust tip videos I’ve seen mostly because of the pulls and multiple different views of it.
Amazing video! You did a fantastic job showing the difference without talking for 5+ years
Yes!!! in the video with the 4" tips I had to lower the volume on my headphones. I'll definitely add tips to my set up.

First time that realize this, it’s better without the exhaust tips ! I didn’t that it can change the sounds of a car ! Interesting!

The tips are like a EQ on a sound system, depending on what type and what you get determines the sound of output
Thank you for how concise and informative this was! Plenty of camera angles and good sound quality, and flooring the shit out of it, 10/10 will recommend!
Well done, easy to compare sound. I assumed they’d make a little difference based on the brass instrument reasoning but here we go, real answers.

they do make a diffrence depending on application. they cleaned the sound up on your exhaust and made it sound so much better
Finally a video that explains and shows the difference

It wasnt louder it was different.. Sounds cleaner with the tips

It sounds a bit muffled
Like tuning keys on an instrument I feel like tips can tune the sound and make sound more pleasing, like in this situation. I dig it.

This was a great video! No messing about and the comparison is done in every situation. Well done!
I never would have believed it, but there was a definite difference in the sound. Guess I need some better tips for my Mustang.
