As in Batman & Robin, that version of Batman doesn't even kill, it's a really interesting arc going from Burton's Batman to Schumacher's Batman.

The end really didn't really shock me either he was so obsessed with his work that he needed something else to be passionate about and that was bruce Wayne and he loved to ask so many questions and try to solve them he got insane no hard to figure out pay attention he wanted to be a God.

The scene at 1:40 when riddler screams in fear reminds me of scarecrow using his toxin against carmine falcone in Batman begins. I love how petrified the riddler is by the sight of the bat. This movie was certainly a lot darker than people give it credit for.
I always saw it as punishment for Nygma trying to destroy the very thing that will now haunt him for the rest of his life, the very purpose as to why Bruce became Batman.
It makes sense given Nygma had extracted Bruce's mind before this so it's very likely as a side effect of his machine being destroyed and all gave him Bruce's fear of the bat as well.

I love Chase's facial reaction when Nigma reveals who Batman really is. She's like, sure and I'm the queen of England!' ) I like the ending where Batman and Robin are running side by side towards the screen, kinda foreshadowing the next chapter but without Val K. That one was the more campy of these two and didn't combine the action very well, this one has a better balance imo

It's amazing how similar Two-Face's death is in this and the Dark Knight. He flips a coin to decide whether he's going to shoot Batman and a younger man. As he flips his coin, Batman intervenes causing Two-Face to fall to his death. The coin lands on the "Harvey" side.
TLJ was very nasty to Jim Carrey. Carrey claimed he said following when they first met: "I hate you. I really don't like you…I cannot sanction your buffoonery."
If he was playing the Joker it would have been amazing, trust me. The way he plays Two-Face in this movie is 100% the Joker. He was just playing the wrong role.
Essentially Riddler gets all the knowledge sucked out of his brain with only Batman's traumatic experience. So him saying he's Batman is way more unsettling than it needed to be. I love it!

Spacey Cave Co. No I was very much not a kid, nor a grown up when I first watched this. I was in my early teenage years wanting to watch something new to watch. The Dark Knight series was of course great, but as I had grown tired of Nolan’s trilogy, I was hungry for something new. Then I found it. Starring the villain as who might be my favorite Actor now, Jim Carrey. I remember the first scene with the little chamber of acid and. I remember the shivers I got just seeing my favorite Villain, Two-Face in such form. So different from The Dark Knight. Beautiful memories I will take with me into my adulthood.
I actually found the riddlers final Scene in this really disturbing, hands down to Jim Carey for this amazing preformance.....as much as this movie did suck

the curious thing is that in the cancelled fifth Batman film in one of the dialogues Batman mentions that the Riddler died of a brain tumor two mouths after he was sent to Arkham because he absorbed several minds.
No he still didn't have that it factor. Late 2000's when he had a couple of dramas under his belt he could have been a passable joker. That role doesn't suit him though, joker still has some seriousness to the character. Jim still to campy and over the top

It sure is! And it's poignant since for Bruce, he had learned to let go of the pain from his parents' deaths and was willing to give up being Batman, but seeing Gotham City still needed him, and how he had to save both Chase and Dick from death, it made him realize he doesn't have to be either Bruce Wayne or Batman. He's both, because he can CHOOSE that path for himself. :)
It's a very shitty movie, but this line gets me every time: the way TLJ says it and the choice of words are the real essence of two faces, in almost all the rest of the movie he is joker, still a great actor.

The story of Bruce's struggle to determine what he wanted at such a point in his life, including whether or not he wanted to continue being Batman; the burden of having to take on two arch enemies who both blame him for what they became and want to destroy, and then end, his life; and then trying to prevent Dick Grayson from succumbing to his own demons, while under presented, was still a good concept, and has its own place in Batman lore.
I love that this version goes against the long held belief that Bruce Wayne is a mask while the Batman is the primary identity. In this moment Bruce Wayne & Batman were one.
I think in novelization by Peter David it is way better as Two Face lunges for a coin and clings on a girder. Grayson accuses him of being coward, not able to make decisions without a coin. Two Face flips a coin one more time, looks at the result, then says to Robin "You owe us, kid" and commits suicide by falling into watery grave. Batman then says to Robin "You just showed Two-Face his real face. The rest was his decision. Maybe his first genuine decision in years".
This movie has some decent dramatic moments even given how broadly everyone is drawn. It's a good counterpoint to the moment earlier in the movie, where Bruce is forced by his own past to admit he's Batman as though it's a crime, but no one can hear him.

We can criticize this movie for its many faults, but let's be real - those of that got to experience this as kids with limited comic/game adaptations during the time, this movie was fun as a kid.
I couldn't wrap my head around Bruce being a different looking person, at age 4, I was stuck in gear 1 & literally supressed the memory of this movie until years later in 05 finding out this move actually happened .
As a kid at first I thought the reason why the Riddler was screaming in fear was because Batman was about to do more damage to him but as an adult I realize why he was really screaming in fear see now he inherited the memories that Bruce had when he was a boy of his fear of bats and now the Riddler's experiencing them first-hand Riddler has got a far worse fate than death and that's having his brains melted so bad he don't know which way is up
In the comics when Riddler finds out that Batman is Bruce Wayne, Batman convinces him that even though he knows, he can't tell anyone because "A riddle everyone knows the answer to is worthless."
Even though its flaws are more visible now, I still enjoy this movie. As a standalone movie, it's a decent superhero movie, and it has plenty of good moments. It's unfortunate how this movie keeps getting lumped with Batman and Robin largely bc it has the same director. That movie was a disaster. This movie was a solid effort to portray a more heroic Batman, and I think it's fine for what it is.

Despite the silliness among a few other things there are some very good scenes such as the Bruce Wayne and Alfred scenes, Arkham Asylum being creepy, Freeze's path toward redemption when he helps Batman cure Alfred, Freeze's anger towards Batman when he allegedly killed his wife but the moment he says "YOU LIE!!" to Ivy it shows his way of saying "Look, I may hate Batman but I know for a fact he does not kill and he would never do a cold blooded thing like that." but the end is classic when he says to Ivy "I am your new cellmate and I have come to make your life a living hell. Prepare for a brutal harvest. Winter has come at last!" That look of fear Ivy has after Mr. Freeze says that is classic and she is clearly sharting herself at that moment another good scene in Batman and Robin is the motorcycle race scene.
Batman and Robin was the first Batman I watched and it was when I was a kid when Batman was really cool. Although it gets off to a decent start I didn't like the whole Batman and Robin fighting over Poison Ivy thing and got sort of bored. I watched Batman Forever a few years later and loved it. I think Batman Forever although a little cheesy is enjoyable to watch.
What I liked about this particular scene was that it really showed how far from sanity Nigma was. His Defeat and losing all of his knowledge made him so weak, it ignited him to lose his mind even further, turning him into a complete lunatic. I love it.
I interpret it this way: he wanted to be Batman (or/and Bruce) so bad, he ended up mixing things up after his trauma of seeing the Batman "becoming" (in his head) the flying bat.

The difference is Robin set out to kill him for revenge. Batman killed him to save their lives, and even then it wasn't a direct kill. There was some choice involved in how Two-Face died, endangering his own life just so he could grab the right coin.

I honestly love the way Dick looks at Two Face falling to his death the same way his parents did. It’s him finally seeing Two Face get what he deserves and he wasn’t responsible for his death because that would make him as bad as Two Face
Actually, the Burton/Shumocher Batman has never had a rule about killing, he's been doing it since the first movie. Really the only two villains he _didn't_ intentionally kill were Nigma and Mr Freeze. _(He definitely knew Freeze would kill Ivy when he arranged for them to be in the same cell.)_
Combine that with the youthful enthusiasm that Robin brings to the table, it only makes sense that George Clooney's Batman would be considerably more relaxed in his Batman persona.
This actually ends the conflict Bruce had in the Tim Burton movies. He always thought he had to be Batman by obligation, but he now realizes that he's only Batman because he chooses to be.
I’m sorry, but I absolutely love this movie. The score is so amazing, the atmosphere is so good, The story is entertaining, and it’s universally agreed that it’s way better than Batman and Robin.

The Batman's Riddler is so disturbing, but this Riddler's fate is far worse. His mind is completely broken (and would have been killed off due to a tumor created by his machine).
“Batman Forever had no dark moments.” *watches this scene, the wake flashbacks/falling in the hole then seeing the bat, the Greysons falling to their deaths, the Arkham end scene with the Riddler* “Uhhh.......”
It's actually those moments (along with Jim Carry's performance as the Riddler) that made Forever one of my favorites. Especially the Arkham ending showing an utterly broken Riddler, something about it was funny...and incredibly dark (more so considering on one script I believe the brain damage actually killed him).

And it's poignant since for Bruce, he had learned to let go of the pain from his parents' deaths and was willing to give up being Batman, but seeing Gotham City still needed him, and how he had to save both Chase and Dick from death, it made him realize he doesn't have to be either Bruce Wayne or Batman. He's both, because he can CHOOSE that path for himself. :)

This was the best quote in the whole movie because it sums up the title of it: Batman Forever.
The story of Bruce's struggle to determine what he wanted at such a point in his life, including whether or not he wanted to continue being Batman; the burden of having to take on two arch enemies who both blame him for what they became and want to destroy, and then end, his life; and then trying to prevent Dick Grayson from succumbing to his own demons, while under presented, was still a good concept, and has its own place in Batman lore.

I think in novelization by Peter David it is way better as Two Face lunges for a coin and clings on a girder. Grayson accuses him of being coward, not able to make decisions without a coin. Two Face flips a coin one more time, looks at the result, then says to Robin "You owe us, kid" and commits suicide by falling into watery grave. Batman then says to Robin "You just showed Two-Face his real face. The rest was his decision. Maybe his first genuine decision in years".

Sure it’s not what you would expect now a days but he took the script and made the best of it.

This movie has some decent dramatic moments even given how broadly everyone is drawn. It's a good counterpoint to the moment earlier in the movie, where Bruce is forced by his own past to admit he's Batman as though it's a crime, but no one can hear him.

In the comics when Riddler finds out that Batman is Bruce Wayne, Batman convinces him that even though he knows, he can't tell anyone because "A riddle everyone knows the answer to is worthless."
Even though its flaws are more visible now, I still enjoy this movie. As a standalone movie, it's a decent superhero movie, and it has plenty of good moments. It's unfortunate how this movie keeps getting lumped with Batman and Robin largely bc it has the same director. That movie was a disaster. This movie was a solid effort to portray a more heroic Batman, and I think it's fine for what it is.

Despite the silliness among a few other things there are some very good scenes such as the Bruce Wayne and Alfred scenes, Arkham Asylum being creepy, Freeze's path toward redemption when he helps Batman cure Alfred, Freeze's anger towards Batman when he allegedly killed his wife but the moment he says "YOU LIE!!" to Ivy it shows his way of saying "Look, I may hate Batman but I know for a fact he does not kill and he would never do a cold blooded thing like that." but the end is classic when he says to Ivy "I am your new cellmate and I have come to make your life a living hell. Prepare for a brutal harvest. Winter has come at last!" That look of fear Ivy has after Mr. Freeze says that is classic and she is clearly sharting herself at that moment another good scene in Batman and Robin is the motorcycle race scene.
Batman and Robin was the first Batman I watched and it was when I was a kid when Batman was really cool. Although it gets off to a decent start I didn't like the whole Batman and Robin fighting over Poison Ivy thing and got sort of bored. I watched Batman Forever a few years later and loved it. I think Batman Forever although a little cheesy is enjoyable to watch.
What I liked about this particular scene was that it really showed how far from sanity Nigma was. His Defeat and losing all of his knowledge made him so weak, it ignited him to lose his mind even further, turning him into a complete lunatic. I love it.

I interpret it this way: he wanted to be Batman (or/and Bruce) so bad, he ended up mixing things up after his trauma of seeing the Batman "becoming" (in his head) the flying bat.

The difference is Robin set out to kill him for revenge. Batman killed him to save their lives, and even then it wasn't a direct kill. There was some choice involved in how Two-Face died, endangering his own life just so he could grab the right coin.

I’m sorry, but I absolutely love this movie. The score is so amazing, the atmosphere is so good, The story is entertaining, and it’s universally agreed that it’s way better than Batman and Robin.
Really, the only complaints I have are Robin's personality and Two-Face's portrayal.
This movie was right at the edge of being too cheesy, but then they pushed it way over the edge with Batman & Robin.
@@Gencoil I agree. Batman Forever was too campy IMO, but it felt a lot more genuine and thought-provoking in it's...own special way. You can see Joel's passion for Batman shining through the technicolor cracks.

It's actually those moments (along with Jim Carry's performance as the Riddler) that made Forever one of my favorites. Especially the Arkham ending showing an utterly broken Riddler, something about it was funny...and incredibly dark (more so considering on one script I believe the brain damage actually killed him).
Batman Forever was originally supposed to be a much darker film than it ended up being apparently.
That Arkham scene with the music actually freaked me out as a kid.
It had some redeemable moments.
