I put a 160mm 36 rhythm on my roscoe 7 last week and the thing is a monster truck now! It handled a downhill bike park with pretty much no complaints lol
I am also a proud owner of the R9. I have unlucked many capabities on this bike. I got my bike in july 2022 as 2023 model before it became a cool bike and the bike has seen all 4 seasons in ohio, yes great on snow!. With that said daily riding wear an tear is already visable and by feel, iv lost weight on this bike. My dropper post spins and wobbles, ive upgraded renthal lock on grips, 40mm high rise fat bar, 31mm apex stem. My stock sprocket is knawed up but im impressed with my stock rims(knock on wood), stock tires are worn but maxxis pace tires, geotacker says i hit 32mph downhill on the road. I run metal rear break pads and resin on my front, plenty enough. my cranks are bent and due for a whole new drive train w/ oval and gear up on a better quality cassett. I think i may have to build my own dt swiss fr541 rim build, i know im a cycho lol. I do know i need to service my forks, im 260 now, bull in the areana, forks are holding up still. Id spend the money on these forks for the 150mm upgrade. Yes im intrested in a new fork but... bUUUt.. 44mm offset. Im a heavy guy, im already daring downhill, why not 200mm, 27.5 front tire. The R9 makes me want to build my own session. I have spent my entire life on bicycles, it was all i had, have, to do, to cope and to enjoy, im 33, 30 years of my life on bikes, i remember i used to drool over the giant glory DH bike when i was a teen and hoped someday i could try such a thing. With such great experince as a kid, even after losing a kidney from a bmx bike wreck, my pride for riding, one month after sugery. This R9 is perfect for me, but i derserve a session. Pain doesnt fucking exist!!
Wow. I actually found a video for this application. My story: I picked up a sweet used but excellent condition R9 last week. Upgraded already with Hope rear hub, grips, newer lgr discs and Selle saddle, chain, Garman mount & more. I wanted to try to swap around the spacers to raise the bars. 3 spacers total. The one at the top(above the bars, I put with the other two (below) raising about 1/4 inch im guessing. I first removed the Garman mount, then the Allen screw that came out was so small. Like less than 1/4 in diameter by 2 inches long. I'm 5'11 by 215lbs, should that little screw concern me? I know the bolt below holding the rest of the fork is there but it's seriously like super small. Is it just holding together the cap?? I just figured with Trek it would have been beefier! All and any comments and or explanations are welcome!
I have the roscoe 7 matt black 2023 and upgraded my seat to carbon seat, my rims to bontrager carbon line elite, my fork upgraded to a lyrik 150mm and some wolf tooth fat paw cam grips that are insanely nice. Also change my brakes to slx 4 pod brakes with Ice tec discs. Its a beast of an hardtail. The crank and derailer ill upgrade as it brakes or needs replacement
The bike looks great. That, "Coating" on your forks is called, "Kashima." The best part of this video is when he's banging in the star nut while the other end of his $1200.00 fork is banging around on the sharp edge of the table. These videos are excellent at showing you what not to do. You should place a towel or blanket down first.
please do a video on all the things you can do to make the roscoe 9 slacker! It doesn't inspire too much confidence on the down hills, needs to be a little slacker
@@hardtailrider7172 yea after posting this comment I found out you've already posted a video regarding that. So the main thing to get is the slack R kit?
Well, yes, you could over fork your bike to get a little more slack or even make your bike a mullet that would give you even just a little more slack. the best way to get the most slack the proper way, it’s just to get the kit
Hey Brother I love ur vids I’m Alex from Australia and I have a 2023 Roscoe 8 blue with a few upgrades it’s an awesome bike but there’s no way I could afford a lot of the items u bought I’d love to put those fox forks on my 8
@hardtailrider7172 I snagged some spank 359s and love them, matched them up with hydra i9, cushcore and assagai and dhr2. Kinda heavy tho. Seeing how light you've made yours is making me want to try some different things
Sick Roscoe. I’m just struggling to decide if upgrading to the 38 is worth the $1,000 price tag. Will it make my Roscoe 9 $1,000 better, Lol. I’m a big dude so I think it might be worth it.
Thanks for watching my videos. Well if you’re going to get a 38 fox float you’re looking in the $1300 range unless you found a great deal somewhere and if you’re a bigger guy 38 is an awesome choice
You’re welcome! I enjoy watching your videos. Fox is doing a 20% off sale so with tax the 38 would be 1068 total. Would you recommend going with the 51mm or 44mm rake?
I’ll be honest with you a 51 or 44 you’re not gonna feel any difference with those numbers.me I like 51 because it puts the wheel out a little further. If I was buying it, it’ll be a 51 for sure.
Different frame then ,7,8,9.... i got one nd would have spent the extra money on 7,8,9 but eyy u live u learn. Nd im still havin fun , but next cop is deff a 7 or up... 6 is for beginners / not really gonna get into MTBing ,,, but if your serious getcha a banger to begin with lol
I think carbon wheels would be awesome, but not on a Hardtail especially mine. I love to run my rear tire pressure extremely low. And when I’m going fast enough, I hear my rim bouncing off everything. If I had carbon rims I would’ve cracked them by now but hubs. Yeah I’m definitely in the market for hubs.
You spend over $3000 on a bike and want to upgrade with a $1500 fork. Wtf. Whose the audience here and can afford this? Are you paying for the this stuff? Mtb is becoming elitist. Just ride ya bike
I put a 160mm 36 rhythm on my roscoe 7 last week and the thing is a monster truck now! It handled a downhill bike park with pretty much no complaints lol
Yeah, it makes the bike feel completely different
Just a question.. Doesn't trek say to put a 150mm travel fork MAX on the R9? 160mm sounds awesome though, super slack!
nice black ones or orange? i want to get them for my ex 7
Deciding between a 150mm and 160mm on my Roscoe. Did your 160 have a 44mm offset or a 51mm offset?
150 is the max travel for the bike dude 🤦♂️

@@Jeremy2290 i would say it surpasses the 9 just the rims alone are better and the fork.
I have the same mtb but haven’t done anything except grips and a new stem

Trust me, this fort takes more of a beaten on the trail than it did on the table
Dude, stay to riding in your Walmart parking lot. Rocks and crashes are going to bang the crap out of this thing.

Marzocchi and rockshocks is the thing :)
They all have a great forts. if I had to choose one it would be the ohline forks
Marzocchi over fox?
Awesome bro. Plan on going out this weekend?
I’m sorry the following Sunday
@@hardtailrider7172 ok ill hit you up next weekend! have a good memorial day man
You too bro
By the way, it's a real gem, hard tail Xmas in Sept for me!!
Do you know what the steering tube length on the roscoe would be?
That all depends on the size of your frame
And year of the Roscoe
@hardtailrider7172 i have the 2023 model, same as yours. Size M
Man its looking so good.
Thanks more upgrade videos coming out real shortly I may or may not have bought some decked out rims for the Roscoe lol

Those are great upgrades. I will give you one hint they are from industry 9
Is it possible to put a downhill fork on the roscoes?
Yes, it is possible to throw a downhill fork on the bike
I have the roscoe 8 2020 with a 27.5 + is this compatible?
Yes, it is compatible

Am I right in thinking that the longer forks would have changed the angle again? What is it now?!
Looks sooo slack haha.

Fox fork! - Too pricy and not good!
Fox float is a tri and true fork and for the pricing is pretty cheap to me
