  • Setting the SAG of your bike is a really important skill if you want to make the most out of your suspensions, whether you're a Pro athlete or just a weekend warrior.
    However, there's more than one way to set the SAG. Besides the most common way, you have the Race Tech method, which is actually the most accurate way of doing it.

    Steps to Podium is the type of channel where you know you can hit the like button before you have seen the video. Thank you for the clear details and explanation, this was very helpful

      Dammit man! you made my day! 💪💪💪💪 I appreciate so freaking much these nice words! it makes me go the extra mile one each and every video I make, truly. When you have people like you, Ariel Toron, watching them, giving anything less than 110%, is failing to myself 😀

      @@StepstoPodium Thank you very much for your reply. The efforts you put in your videos are evident and I personally benefit from the knowledge you share, as most probably many others do as well. As such, leaving a kind word is the absolute bare minimum. Keep up the good work - I'll be definitely looking forward to future Steps to Podium videos!

    Going all-in on my suspension ... I'll be doing the old-fashion way here, not that the race-tech method might be best... I'm not not down with mathematics..

    I did raise the rear-end up and it did make a difference in the static sag for sure...

    How should you set the sag on a bike with a low seating position, that you can flat foot? Should you back it all the way out?

      Thank you for watching! 😄 Yes there is. It's usually between 60 and 75mm. (Range of reference)

  • @МотоМучитель

    Guys, thanks for the video, it's very useful! But I wanted to deduce the determination for the word sag. is it possible to call a sag a range? Sag as a manufacturer's recommended suspension compression range? A static sag is from 30mm to 40 but its a range, it is a recommended range and for a rider sag also is a recommended range. So is the sag a range first of all?

    • @StepstoPodium
      @StepstoPodium  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The SAG is a measurement 😉

  • @FabioPradoLima
    @FabioPradoLima 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mate, when you say that "using this method they affirm it can be accurate to 1mm" means that if done again it'll always result in 1mm less or 1mm more everytime, is that it? (assuming no other thing interferes with the measuring) --Thanks again

    • @StepstoPodium
      @StepstoPodium  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Around 1mm more, or 1mm less :)

    So I just got my first bike I'm a heavyweight rider . So would I compress the spring or decompress the spring to stiffen the sag to accommodate. MY heavier weight

  • @Banlara1702
    @Banlara1702 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    what happens if your sag goes past a little bit what the recommended range in the manual is?

    • @StepstoPodium
      @StepstoPodium  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There shouldn't be a problem! those values are for a broad set of applications. if for what you use the bike for you get far more from a different sag value then the one recommended, there is no problem, as long as that doesn't imply you bottom out too often and cause accelerated wear on the shock/forks 😊
      If my info is right, some factory extreme enduro riders have the sag well above the recommended values (more than 105mm - why use that value, you have to ask them!), but since they tune the suspension for each race, they don't cause accelerated wear on the suspensions.

    Olá, no video não dizes dividir por 2, mas é fazer a equação de forma normal? Não percebo muito de matematica mas penso que seja 1º x2-x3, 2º dividir resultado anterior por 2 e depois subtrair o resultado com x1 certo? :D

    • @StepstoPodium
      @StepstoPodium  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      exactamente! 😁 primeiro a conta dentro de parênteses, depois a divisão e só no final a subtracção 👌
