I’m 5 days in keto 2.0 and had a cucumber yesterday and was hoping it was going to be approved by Dr Berg and this morning here is this video. Amazing.
Dr. Berg I recently found your channel. Your videos are well done. I would like to share with you the hummus recipe that my Moroccan neighbors shared with me. Ingredients - 1 can organic chickpeas - 1TBS organic greek yogurt - 1TBS organic sour cream - 1TBS organic Tahini - 0 - 3 cloves of garlic. minced ( you can sauté the garlic to mellow it or you can leave it raw I enjoy it both ways) - Sumac - organic lemon - organic Olive Oil - organic cilantro, chopped Directions Drain the chickpeas of their excess liquid by pouring that liquid into a cup. Reserve the liquid. Place the drained peas, yogurt, sour cream and tahini and optional garlic into the blender and blend it up. Add as much of the reserved chickpea liquid as is necessary for the hummus to be the consistency that you like. Once you are done blending, place the hummus into a serving dish. Refrigerate 6hours - overnight to let the flavor develop in the hummus Just before serving: Sprinkle sumac on top. Squeeze a little lemon on top. Pour some olive oil on top. Sprinkle chopped cilantro on top. Enjoy Dr Berg and Keep up the excellent work!
I've been eating cucumbers every day, and my triglycerides level dropped to normal level for the very first time under 150! I will continue to do that! ❤ thanks, Dr. Berg!
Dr.Berg, can you do a video on Histamine Intolerance? Only 2% of the population has this autoimmune disease. I need help ASAP I can’t eat anything at all except carrots & onions.. (please thumb this up so Mr.Berg can see this) thank you.
Dr. Eric Berg DC thank you so so much for replying! I’ve seen that video 2 months ago but that’s just a little summary of H.I. All the ‘yes’ foods in that video, I can’t eat those. Those still give me a reaction. Only thing I eat daily are: Carrots, Onions, Almonds, Almond milk, Cane sugar for sweetener, Fiber Oat, Corn (barley), Millet flour, & black chick pea flour... everything else gives me a bad reaction. I’ve been dealing with this for 2 years now. It’s hell. For supplements I take probiotics, magnesium, k2 + d3 since it helps get rid of excess levels of histamine. I’m also a vegetarian so I can eat animals for DAO enzymes. Can you please please do a detailed video on histamine intolerance & its cure?? So I can live like a normal human being..
Absolutely adore cucumber 🥒 . Cukes are related to melons and they have a similar perfumed flavour, only more green and fresh. They are great sliced into iced water with lime and strawberries in summer. I love the crunchy texture. A couple of months ago, I started fermenting cukes. I slice hot house or Kirby cukes and add garlic cloves and dill to the salt water solution. I let them ferment on the counter for 2-3 days and then refrigerate. They are delicious!

I really like that you present everything written on your board with direct and most important points of each subject. You make it simple to understand, something that other health teachers should take note of, and you relate to common folks. So glad I found your videos. Thank you so much always. Awesome doctor. Yeah cucumbers. Aloha
@Aniruddh Rabinder Nath I'm pretty sure that, with neural imaging, it's been proven that the brain runs more efficiently on ketones rather than glucose. Humans didn't always eat as often as we do now, so they were naturally in ketosis much more often than modern day humans. The Asians are eating more calories overall so of course they're going to gain weight. That's merely their ignorance at play. Corporate greed does play a role but people also need to take some responsibility for what they shove down their throats.
Japan was full of fermented vegetables, just everything you can buy they have fermented versions there... that is why I felt so good there!!! last winter even though we couldn`t eat so much of a raw vegetables ...
Wow!?!?! I learn so much through your videos! Thank you for sharing. I love cucumbers, but never know I wasn't maximizing their nutritional value. One question, does avocado oil work the same as olive oil?
Thanks for the video on cucumbers I eat a half a cucumber almost everyday with healthy olive oil mayonnaise from Primal kitchen so that was very interesting to hear that from you sometimes I eat them raw but sometimes I use that mayonnaise so that's great to know thanks a lot
Kiszone ogorki - soured ( fermented cucumbers) rocks! They are so different from pickled ( hate them)- this is my remedy for stomach ulcers - sour cucumber, avocado sandwiches.
Thank You Dr Berg! I love cucumbers and eat them everyday in the summer, usually with home-made olive oil dressing...I will try fermenting cukes in my new fermenting crocks, Mmmm! Bubbies is delicious, but I wish they made organic ones! Make my own Hummus bi Tahini...
I feel like you are inside my mind everytime I’m thinking of something I see it the next day or within the week. How do you do it? Thank you for all the amazing information as always. I always tell my mom remember what Dr Berg said lol when I have to reminder her to not eat bad food.
You need about 2400 mg of sodium each day. If you’re an athlete like me you may want to consume closer to 3500 mg. Just try to make sure it’s sea salt and not all processed iodized salt since that stuff can make the face puffy
Dr Berg..is juicing fresh cucumbers inferior to these other methods that you have mentioned in this video as far as getting the nutrients from the vegetable?
Always such great info and content, you got me to start this Keto lifestyle and actually inspired me to start my own vlog documenting my keto weight loss journey. I started at 531lbs last week (embarrassing I know) but have lost 20lbs this week with Keto, exercise and intermittent fasting.... Thanks so much for everything you do.
Awesome program! Thank you Doctor, a gift for you my personal Hummus recipe. Very easy, just puree the ingredients. I can of Chickpeas, also called Garbanzo beans (healthier to cook the dry beans of same amount). 1/3 cup of low salt vegetable broth, 1 1/2 lemons squeezed, 3 teaspoons of Tahini, (can substitute 1 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil), 3 garlic cloves, sea salt to taste, 1/2- 1 tsp of olive oil optional. Also an old family summer salad, sliced cucumbers and onions with salt pepper and garlic to season mixed with a small amount of vinegar. Very refreshing, in the winter my Mom would add a bit of sour cream to this. Thanks again for all of your great wisdom!
What if I pickle with bragg ACV and use monk fruit as the sweetener? I assumed that was healthy although I ferment lots of foods in just grey sea salt and water as well. I make homemade dills that are seriously delish using my dill, my garlic, my shallots, my cukes, my grape leaves and my hot peppers all from my garden.
Food should be good and taste good too... our food these days taste good but are bad for us as food designers designed nutrition out of food in preference for taste and texture.
I'm so envious. I'm under investigation for an esophageal ulcer - or at least Gerd without acid - and I've found that when I eat anything acidic, it flares an attack - 'lump' sensation in my throat and chronic burping. I wonder if I could rinse the fermented veg to remove the vinegar and still enjoy the benefits? Unfortunately, the UK health system has all but collapsed so I could be waiting 2-3 years for the investigation. Great channel by the way!
Vinegar will pickle the process.. not ferment it. Buy yourself some Sauerkraut, remove the cabbage Leave the juices in the jar Add the cucumbers and close the jar. Leave in a dry area, generally 25°C room temp for approx 7-10 days.
@Ncyim Thank you very much. I've never been sick! But this started back in April and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with 'the' virus. I started with breathlessness and chest tightness and as those symptoms went, I developed the 'lump' in the throat sensation plus burping. I've never been tested for the virus, but wonder if it could be viral damage that I've suffered. I'll look into the method that you've mentioned. Thanks again.
Robert C Lynch , years ago I had that same "lump in my throat sensation. I was sure I had a tumor in my throat or something. Had a scope and it was just reflux "Gerd" causing the feeling. Took a antacid like Prilosec and Reglan for a while and got better. Although I had to wean myself off of it because you shouldn't be on it for more than 2 weeks. Dr. Berg has some videos on the topic of reflux. I actually started drinking a TBSP. raw apple cider vinegar in a cup of water 2 times a day and it helped greatly. He says it's actually the problem of not Enough acid in your stomach that's the problem but check out his videos.
@@jenniferdahl4010 Thank you for such a detailed reply. It really helps - and like you, I thought - tumour?? Because acid seems to badly affect whatever it is, I'm worried about taking apple cider vinegar - to raise acid - when I'm taking Lansoprazole to suppress acid. Also, I began drinking vinegar in water back in February - and not long after, this issue began. Hopefully I can get off the meds and look after myself.
@@ilovethebeach1877 - Nope; I cut up cukes & into the bowl; then I open a can of sardines, then hold said can under cold water to rinse first; then empty into said bowl. Then I add some hydrolyzed collagen powder, the aforementioned spices then olive oil, lemon juice; mash it, eat it. Obviously I'm not a foodie or any sort of gourmet; I have a philosophy of eating that precludes aesthetics & includes a certain dismay over how our culture considers food (or, more commonly, "food-like substances") that I will not burden you with here. I'll just add that I don't eat from 2 AM until 6 PM ("Time Restricted Eating") so that when I finally do eat this at 6, I'm pretty hungry. PS- Stay away from the beach during tropical storms or depressions of any kind (except perhaps economic depressions: your call), including of course cat. 1, 2, 3-5 hurricanes. Other than that I guess you can love the beaches that are left; they're steadily shrinking due to the ravenous appetite of the rising seas that are constantly eating more and more of the land every passing day or so it seems. Rant over and out. PS- I suppose you could make a dressing at that... but that sounds like work, to which I tend to be allergic.
My favorite way to eat cucumbers is a sort of hybrid Caprese salad with chunks of avocado, tomatoes, finely chopped kale, mozzarella and lots of fresh basil, topped with balsamic vinaigrette and lots of cracked pepper. I also enjoy making my own hummus - so much better than store-bought.
We have 'cacık' in Turkey...Crushed garlic is mixed with yogurt , then add very small cut cucumber in it, and add some amount of water according to your will, some salt, mix all them. At the and some black pepper, virgin olive oil and then minced dill over it...delicious.....
Doctor do we have to buy organic or can we use the regular ones and just peel them? I was craving cucumber and made a juice with them but i did not peel them so i thought i would ask you?
Food for thought: While cukes are not part of the dirty dozen list, they do rank just outside that list in 16th (placing them in the top third dirtiest of the 48 fruit/vegetables tested). Also, the skin and seeds do contain lectins, which can be broken down mostly with heat: steam/light pan fry.
I make a cucumber salad - cut the cucumber in small cubes and mix with a vinaigrette made of: olive oil + apple cider vinegar or wine vinegar + himalayan salt + cayenne pepper + mashed fresh garlic. Put in a fridge to chill and infuse and then serve. Yummy!
I was wondering about the nutrients in cucumbers just this week. I'm glad that I came across this video. Also, to find out about your keto channel. Thank you for sharing

same here!
Have some willpower, it'll help immensely.
Same here. Ice cream last night🍦🍦🍦
The only way I can keep from munching out in the late hours is simple. Try to not have any in the pantry. Me I won’t walk a block to buy munchies but if they’re in the house they start calling me around 10:00 PM🥴
we have all been there. try replacing the craving with extra dark chocolate and walnuts or brazil nuts and some beet juice. you will like the taste once you have had it a couple of times. really great high energy and satisfying feeling
😊

I always love eating cucumbers alone, with a salad, and sometimes by mixing them with a plain zero added sugar yogurt. Also, I add a high-quality EVOO on my salad!
Thank you so much Dr Eric, I really really enjoyed watching you talk about cucumbers 🥒 to us all. It’s so amazing what you can get from a ordinary cucumber isn’t it? I’m going shopping 🛍 today, so I’ll be cornering the market in cucumbers!!!!!!! Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I really like that you present everything written on your board with direct and most important points of each subject. You make it simple to understand, something that other health teachers should take note of, and you relate to common folks. So glad I found your videos. Thank you so much always. Awesome doctor. Yeah cucumbers. Aloha
I know i can smell the felt tip marker every time it squeaks
Huh!!! I’ve always thought they’re empty thanks Dr Berg for all the important information ❤️❤️❤️
I love cucumbers. This is great :) You have succeeded in getting me excited about Cucumbers lol!
Ate inches .my bad. Lol
help me.
My girlfriend likes them too. Good cheap toy!
😁
Every day I have sliced cucumbers (with skin on ‘washed) with white kimchi and salad dressing...sooo good:)
Thank You Dr. Berg! More proper Knowledge on health is always the best! :D
It's so easy to ferment your own cucumbers.....love them so good...video's all over utube
I mix chopped cucumber with some feta cheese and pour some mct oil and a bit of salad dressing for snack all the time 👍
Thank you for sharing that! I was just wondering how to eat them besides in a salad, and I really like feta cheese, so will use your idea.
I do cucumbers sliced, feta cheese and tomatoes with olive oil, it's my favorite. Sometimes it's my lunch. Seems to be enough to fill me.
Cucumbers and Radishes every morning for years with my veggie loaded Omelette. Love em both! Love 4Truth!
Like eating cucumbers cut in quarters and sprinkle a little salt on them for taste
my favorite is to spiralize the cucumber. Pour apple cider vinegar over and mix in celtic salt (82 minerals) Mix in spinach and avacado. Amazing!
I love cucumbers, the smell, taste and texture is heavenly. I eat cucumbers every other day
Very good.
I have 30 cucumber plants starting to climb the trellises. Once they start producing we eat them every day. So delicious!
Cucumber has LOTS of collagen precursors. Something I never see mentioned 🤔
Is it the silica?
@@LP-fz5xm Yes!
I do love cucumbers 🥒
@@xmikeox Yes, seriously what the hell is it? I'm too lazy to google it.
You better keep quiet or we'll send some people to your house to help persuade you to keep you mouf shut!! 😠🔫
Thank you for the video.
I just bought one box of cucumbers in Costco (Taiwan) yesterday. I will eat cucumbers more and more.
Thanks for the video on cucumbers I eat a half a cucumber almost everyday with healthy olive oil mayonnaise from Primal kitchen so that was very interesting to hear that from you sometimes I eat them raw but sometimes I use that mayonnaise so that's great to know thanks a lot
Thank you Dr. Beg! I appreciate your hard work on tips to make us healthier,,GOD bless you,
Cucumbers are my favorite vegetable!!!!!!!!!!! I use to eat them like a pickle right out of my grandparents garden when I was little!! LOL
I love cucumbers!!!! One of my favorites! I usually eat them raw, so good. Or with some lemon juice. Mmmm!
How much of these phytonutrients are from the skin? Sometimes I peel or partial peel them, because they seem easier to digest. Thanks
Would like to know that too..
Very important question..
Thx..!! :)
You peel the almost nonexistent skin of cucumbers? Do you peel apples as well?
Kiszone ogorki - soured ( fermented cucumbers) rocks! They are so different from pickled ( hate them)- this is my remedy for stomach ulcers - sour cucumber, avocado sandwiches.
I try to buy the larger cucumbers. Usually two to three a week. Cut them in half. That way they last about a week. Will begin adding EVOO.
For us in Morroco ,we cut cucumber with onino and tomatoes then de add salut vinegar and Olive oil.
The skin and the seeds have lectins. So make sure you peel them and dessed them. Also, they are kinda high in sodium.
Cucumbers are NOT high in sodium! About 4mg per 100g (or 1 medium size cucumber).
You need about 2400 mg of sodium each day. If you’re an athlete like me you may want to consume closer to 3500 mg. Just try to make sure it’s sea salt and not all processed iodized salt since that stuff can make the face puffy
Fermented food will destroy lectins.
Dr Berg..is juicing fresh cucumbers inferior to these other methods that you have mentioned in this video as far as getting the nutrients from the vegetable?
I love cucumbers 🥒 I’ve been putting them a lot in my salads lately and eating them raw. Doc, is it healthy to also juice them ?
Auxilium duuuuude....not cool
@Auxilium wtf duuuude. also, how do you know she didn't?
@Auxilium hahahah
Been craving them. Been eating them like crazy lately. ❤Cucumbers do make me feel good.
Keep going! Cheering you on! :D
@@JosEPh-zy3yr Thanks mate, i'm giving it a red hot go...
Powered By Keto Rooting for you guy.
Thanks Dr. Berg. This get me thinking if we should just consume more fiber rich food than taking probiotics?
Awesome program! Thank you Doctor, a gift for you my personal Hummus
recipe. Very easy,
just puree the ingredients. I can of Chickpeas, also called Garbanzo
beans (healthier to cook the dry beans of same amount). 1/3 cup of low
salt vegetable broth, 1 1/2 lemons squeezed, 3 teaspoons of Tahini, (can
substitute 1 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil), 3 garlic cloves, sea salt to
taste, 1/2- 1 tsp of olive oil optional. Also an old family summer
salad, sliced cucumbers and onions with salt pepper and garlic to season
mixed with a small amount of vinegar. Very refreshing, in the winter my
Mom would add a bit of sour cream to this. Thanks again for all of your
great wisdom!
Really interesting , never thought about cucumbers this way , thank you !
Thank you for the love and care for how healthy, silent follow still follow and gaining nutritional knowledge.
love the videos about health benefits of different kinds of foods. Helps everyone to make better desitions and possible try something new :)
Buy yourself some Sauerkraut,
remove the cabbage
Leave the juices in the jar
Add the cucumbers and close the jar.
I eat a cucumber and sardine salad for breakfast, w/olive oil, mustard, turmeric, garlic powder, lemon pepper, ETCETERA. That's some damn good eatin'!
Is that the dressing?
@@ilovethebeach1877 - Why not? Call it what you will... PS- I recently added lemon juice too (from a lemon, not a bottle).
@@TaichiStraightlife sounds yummy I'd like to try do you just combine it all in a dressing and pour it over cucumbers?
This sounds lovely! Am definitely going to try it :)
I love cucumbers as well. I like to juice them and also make a cucumber-melon salad, like mixing them with honeydew melon and/or cantelope. 🙂
Huh I'll try it thanks.👍
I am curious to hear his answer too
@@lifewellloved0204 ok, thank you!
Yummy!
@Lucie In making your cucumber salad.; Can you share the recipe? ty
Great info 😊 thanks Dr Berg.
In my country we mostly eat them raw like fruits
Yes l do too put them in a sandwich.
Grew Lemon Cucumbers this year, been eating with BRKFSTT, and OMG they are good, and seem to really derive alot of energy from them.
Hummus is so easy and cheap to make, why buy it? Make it yourself and you control all of the ingredients.
Home made hummus is so much better than any store bought.
You’re right i make tahini myself and i like it more than hummus, YUMMY!!😁🤩
I agree!
Hummus is for goats ...
Lilly Pod Lol, how about tahini?
I was wondering about the nutrients in cucumbers just this week. I'm glad that I came across this video. Also, to find out about your keto channel. Thank you for sharing
Or how about some cucumbers with sour cream and a little garlic and onion? Yum!
Julie, you can cook dinner for me any day!
It's called CACIK, in my country :)
How about mixing cream cheese with sardines and spreading it on sliced cucumbers. Maybe placing an olive on top. Could be an appetizer.
I wish I could eat them that way---it sounds really good---but I'm allergic to dairy and all allium vegetables (onions, garlic, leeks, shallots, etc.), unfortunately.
Noooooooo🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
You are the amazing doctor ever.
Great timing... I am flush with cukes in the garden right now..
Send me some lol
Me too! Ive been giving the excess away. They just keep coming Lol
Same here, and I don't like cucumbers. My husband does, and I guess I better learn to, too!
KC 76 Try putting a little salt and vinegar on it. 👌
Awesome info I really didn’t know that was that great!! I have so many homegrown from a friend I will eat them all!! Thanks Doc Berg!
